Ok, I've come up with a way to make Reptiles, etc... houses.
*needs ES*
Step 1
Lay out your floor. Use any path you like.
Step 2
Lay out your exhibit. Add more flooring if necessary.
I suggest using glass fences for authenticity, and a Dino Danger fence section for a gate.
Step 3
Delete the flooring in the exhibit. Add the biome of the animal you plan to put in it.
Add any small attractions (benches, lights, kiosks) to the concreted section.
Step 4
Place a high, solid fence around the area. Make exceptions for special objects. (fog machines, statues, etc) If you have the zoo wall fence download, use it. Otherwise, use any solid fence.
Step 5
Select an elevated path. Cover the entire exhibit with the lowest possible elevated path.
Step 6
Add your animals to the exhibit. Add trees, (if possible) shrubbery, rocks, and different terrain.
Step 7
Make a two-space barrier around the whole building. Color the terrain whatever you want the building's walls to be.
Step 8
Use the elevation tool to increase the altititude of the ground within the two walls.
Even it out. Delete the surrounding fences.
Step 9
Explore your new building!
*Pics tomorrow!!!*

helpful, but if you want to make a building with a fence, this is how:
the lowest elevateid path design is to low for a fence, and the next highest is to large to make it look like a building, so use the elevation tools to make a fence be just right with the elevated path. you can make holes in the roof to make room for trees, but put trees in before you put the roof in.

thanks that realy helpful

I'm very curious what it looks like. Please post that promised picture.
-
Ive seen these. THEY ARE AWESOME!!!! now i know how to make them i will try
-
My comp crashed when I was saving the pics, so I'm gonna try to re-do it for a later date.
Aside from this, I've found that the marine mania tank walls make better and more realistic walls.
-
I just made one and thought i would post some pics

Whoah, now that is cool. I'm gonna be trying that for sure!!!
-
me too, that looks awesome! I really dont like the reptile house the game comes with very much.
-
That...is..awsome! I have GOT to try that!
-
I just need reptiles now For zt2
-
There are already quite a few - the Komodo dragon, Galapagos and spurred tortoises, green and leatherback turtles, the Nile monitor and the Nile crocodile.
You could make exhibits with tank walls to look even more authentic, but you must use one tile of regular fencing.
-
yeah. This sounds really cool and intersting. I can't wait to try this out. :bounce:
-
but crookshak, theres only 1 if you dint have any x packs.

I like the idea of a reptile house, I thik I'll have to try it out myself!
-
I made a small mammal house this way one time. I had 4 pens, and in them I had meerkats, red pandas, fennec foxes and... what was the last one agian? Oh, shoot, I don't remember. I'll check. Anyhow, you get the idea.

I like the way this works, but i figured out how to make an actual indoor facility a while ago. you need marine mania. this works especially well for aquariums.
1. make a solid circle with a path.
2. surround the outer edge of your floor with clear tank walls. these walls can be as tall as you want and when you place an elevated path adjacent to it, it actually clicks together with a neat white border.
3.Now you should have what looks like an empty tank with a missing wall and a paved bottom. Now you put buildings and other decor in your building. this is so you can make your ceiling just the right height. remember you can adjust the tank walls.
4. Now all you have to do is make tanks connecting to the clear tank walls and put animals in them. it actually looks like an indoor aquarium! you can probably do this with a variety of houses. use your imagination.

the idea was sort of a forehead-slapper...

I man or may not be working on creating Reptillian and Amphibian Animal Statues. Carry along.. Nothing to see here... :shifty:
-
for a reptile house: i think a good idea is to make a komodo dragon and galapagos giant tortise tank with coastal biom. not only does it look better than scrub, it keeps the animals just as happy as scrub
for an amphibian house: i like to use all of the poisen dart frogs that can be found on this site ince the downloads comeback
for a small mammal house: i like to do lemurs, small cats, or wolves with wolverines
-
If you are doing a farm instead of a zoo, you can make barns this way. Covered food courts are fun; put a ramp leading up and put eating space on top.
-
another cool idea is to make the house , and on top make a playground and a food court that is directly atached to the house
-
this is fantastic! :signclosed: i think
