Title: Zoo Tycoon Unleashed

It has been some time since I filled you in on the goings-on over at ZTU and ZTU Forums....I have been working 60-70 hour weeks so I have not as had as much time as I wanted to update things. Our most recent quarterly contest just ended and the winner was RatBag Oz. All of the entries in the contest were incredible, sso please feel free to come on over and check them out. The big new showever is that we will be doing the ZTU Around the World event again this year. Anyone who joined us last year can certainly tell you what a good time was had by all... On the list of events for the day are:

*Small contests throughout the day with prizes, and a grand prize basket as well. There are lots of Microsoft provided prizes to be had :)

*2nd Annual Fansite Awards will be presented that day. Nominations are currently open through next weekend, when we will start the voting.

*All remaining suitability guides for ZT1 will be posted, as well as the remaining ZT2 animal guides

*All remaining scenario walkthroughs will be posted as well.

*The write up that Microsoft put on the main site for us last year will be updated to reflect the new date, etc.... We are currently hosting a contest for the graphic that will accompany that write up...Entries must be submitted by the 25th to allow for judging and Microsoft to get it posted.

*There will be special animal and design workshops that day...

*We will be trying again this year to break our "most members online" record, which currently stands at 195...

*There will be a fansite scavenger hunt, involving a slew of fellow ZT fansites....

*We are doing the community zoo project again this year, and there are still several slots open. We hope to start working on it within the next week, so please sign up now if you want to join in the fun!

*And LAST but not LEAST, we finally have a top notch design team who have created some fantastic downloads. Look for a dozen or more new downloads to be revealed.

This is not a final list of events, and we will probably add to it as the event draws nearer. Right now we are shooting for May 15th, and we hope that you'll join us for a lot of fun. Members from ANY and ALL Zoo Tycoon Fansites are welcome! :)

Microsoft will be updating the main site shortly, and again this year we have great Microsoft prizes. In addition, GMX Media has decided to donate 5 copies of Deep Sea Tycoon 2 for the event. RatBag Oz and African Raptor have been hard at work and have created dozens of new downloads for the event. A sneek peek can be found on the main site on the previews page. Those pictured there are just a sampling of the offerings, which are pretty fantastic! We hope that everyone will join us on May 15th for the event - you won't be sorry :)

After an extended leave due to illness, I am back to the board and will be making some changes. I will be completely revamping several sections, so if you can't get into the site...don't panic, I may just be fixing something and will have everything back up as soon as possible...

It seems like everyone had a real good time with this, so wait until you see what teamwork can create! These zoos all look so fantastic it's gonna be hard to pick a winner :)

In site news, there have been some staff changes. I have stepped down as admin to take a much needed vacation from the board to focus on real life problems. PsychicZookeeper has rejoined the admin staff and we are proud to welcome TigerKitty to the admin team as well. Rest assured that with all these changes, the board will still remain the board everyone has known and loved - no major changes, we promise!

ZTU's fantastic contests, wonderful knowledge about the game, and her length of service to the ZT Community were all instrumental in the initial creation of this forum and its subsequent growth. We thank her for her many contributions to our forum and hope that she will visit us often and continue to contribute as she is able. And in those rare moments when she is not visiting the forum or thinking about us ;) , we sincerely wish her all the best that life has to offer.

If you used to access the forums through ZTU's site, then please change your Bookmarks/Favorites to the updated address. The Admin Team of PsychicZookeeper, Zoxaeus and I are commited to keeping the forum a fun and educational place to be.

Meanwhile, back at the forum, ZTU is continuing with gift baskets that will be auctioned on EBay with the proceeds donated to Noahs Wish, a charity that rescues and shelters animals in disasters, and has been doing heroic work rescuing animals from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Microsoft is is gonna donate a couple copies of ZT2: Endangered Species Pack to add to the baskets, and one of the baskets will have a copy of ZT for the Nintendo DS. There are TONS of other goodies, too many to name, so please look for the links to the eBay site and make a bid!!

"Our goal at the forum is to foster a fun and caring community centered around the Zoo Tycoon games. Our Designers and some members enjoy creating new items to use in the games. We would like all those who visit the site to look around and see all that we have to offer. Many members have been grateful that we require them to explore and post, otherwise they would have missed learning or enjoying something new. We are also aware that some members are just not comfortable with posting and ten posts seems impossible to reach, so they never get a chance to use our wonderful downloads.

We are going to decrease our minimum posts required to download from ten to five to accomodate those who are uncomfortable posting. Posts in any area of the board count towards the minimum, so you can introduce yourself in the Member Area, join in the Fun & Games section, chat about a wide variety of topics in the Chat section, or share your strategy in the ZT 1 or 2 areas.

This is a trial period. We may adjust this policy again in the future."

I've gone on Microsoft's site and clicked on Zoo Tycoon Unlimited USA and it said to look for a new site before November.

They work for you? I've posted at least two or three times and people have given me links, but they all say the same thing. "Cannot Find Server" at the top, and "this Page Cannot Be Displayed" or something to that effect on the main body of the page. Same for if I go to the Fansites page on the Main Zoo Tycoon site and hit Zoo Tycoon Unlimited, but when I hit Zoo Tycoon Unlimited USA, it comes up with a page that says that the site is undergoing construction and to look for a new site before November.

nope. Same error Message. And I just got off Microsoft.com's main page for Zoo Tycoon,Dinosaur Digs and Marine Mania. I went to the Fansites page where they have all the Zoo Tycoon Fansites listed. They have two for Zoo Tycoon Unleashed (formerly Zoo Tycoon Unlimited) one just says Zoo Tycoon Unlimited with the error message previously posted and the other one Zoo Tycoon Unlimited USA says they are reconstructing the website. So, I guess that means I just won't be able to get on it for awhile, but it'd be nice if they had a date that it will be finished on. Thanks.

I know. Everywhere I've tried I get the same error message except if I go on Microsoft's Zoo Tycoon Official site and hit Zoo Tycoon Unlimited USA. Don't ask me why they haven't changed it to Unleashed, anyways, when I hit on that page it comes up, but says that the site is under constructionand to look for new stuff before November. I have Microsoft's site bookmarked. I'll just have to keep going back there and checking. I took the Zoo Tycoon Unleashed page out. I'm hoping someone from there will see these posts and let me know what's going on if anything.

"Should anybody learn of someone unable to access the forum please find out exactly what the error message is. Are they getting a "cannot find the site" or "DNS error" or accessing the site but getting fatal errors -- we have had multiple problems and have fixed all of the ones we have the ability to fix that we know of, but for some, the internet addressing system is not working, and, well, we need to know as much specific info as we can get! "

Anyone who is having difficulties accessing ZTUF, please PM me with this info and I will get it to admin for you. In the meantime, try deleting all your cookies and try to access the site again. It may or may not work, but it's something you can try while you wait for this to get fixed.

Yeah, that's weird. I can't even access it from the Internet by typing in Zoo Tycoon Unleashed. I did Bookmark (from an old post on this topic) from the Main Microsoft Zoo Tycoon site) the Zoo Tycoon Around the World Ad on the Fansites page, which shows the same page as the Zoo Tycoon Unlimited USA, but I know they've since changed their name to Unleashed. Anyways, the error messages I've gotten have all been the same: At the top it says: "Cannot Find Server" the body of the text says "The Page Cannot Be Displayed", "The Page You are looking for may be experiencing technical difficulties".

Some members have been in a skin that was not functioning properly after the software upgrade, some members have tried accessing us through the former website and were unsuccessful.

The correct link has been posted here by Bielski, Thanks!!, and is http://www.zoxaeus.com/ZTforums or the one Bielski posted, and leads to our newly-renamed forum Zoo Tycoon Unleashed. (The forum name at the top of the page is all that changed -- not the address.)

The error that KTesch is describing is most frustrating since there is probably nothing we can do about it. It probably says somewhere on the page "DNS Server error." The forum site is up and running and active, I assure you of that. It is very frustrating when, on the same computer, I can access the site via 56 kb dialup but not via 6 mb highspeed cable.

Well then, I don't know what's going on. I typed in the address you posted (ie,) the same one that Bielski gave me and I get the same error message. I'm currently scanning my computer, but haven't found any viruses that might be causing the problem. I guess I just won't be able to come back, as my problems aren't intermittent as you've stated some poeple have had, they've been constant.

There is a way to fix the "Page cannot be found, DNS Server error" which involves your internet service provider, which I will work with you via PM. Intermittent includes those who are unable to access the site for a few minutes or hours as well as those who are unable to access the site for days or weeks.

Peacenote, that fatal error is a new one. thanks for posting it, I'll see what can be done.

The party was so much fun! The Speedy Design contests were, as always, very popular. And some of the screenshots of animals unleashed are hilarious! Of the new downloads, my fave is probably Genki's Sweet Buildings with a Banana Boat Restaurant, graphics by Genki, rotations and programming by TK, fern, and Jay. Not only is it a jaw-drooping treat to behold, we are so grateful for the community effort. :)

kTesch, the forums, downloads, gallery, arcade, PM system -- all seem to be working fine now. They were down for a few hours last night after Around the World Day for a software upgrades. With all the different modules, it takes quite a while now for Zoxaeus to complete the upgrade, and she did need a few hours of sleep after the ATW Day activities. :wink:

Post by: marlizdu on June 02, 2006, 10:32:59 AM: Over the next 2-3 days we will be carrying out important maintenance on the Unleashed forums. Most of the work will be behind the scenes so you shouldn't notice any real changes to the forums.

As the maintenance being carried out could be effected by certain components on the forums we have had to turn off certain functions. These are as follows:

1. No new registrations
2. Downloads Database has been turned off
3. Gallery has been turned off
4. Arcade has been turned off

We appreciate that many members download a lot of our files and that a lot of members enjoy spending time in our arcade. All that we ask is that over the next few days you remain patient with us while the maintenance takes place.

During this time you may experience board down time (The forums turned off, in which case you will see a message saying so), you may get an 'Error' message when trying to connect to the forums or you may experience no problems reaching the Unleashed forums at all. If you do experience any of these problems try checking back either in a few hours or the next day.

The Unleashed forums will be turned offline for the first part of the maintenance which could take anywhere from a couple of hours to a day. As soon as the first part is over we will turn the forums back online.

We would like to thank our wonderful members in advance for their continued patience and co-operation whilst we try to make Zoo Tycoon Unleashed a better place for everyone.

You should have your validation email now. If not, please post a note in the bugs and suggestions forum under new registration problems and we will get it sorted out for you. There was a problem with the validation software, and I know that validation emails were not going out and that has since been fixed.

Stormy has been a designer at Unleashed for approximately a year, concentrating on beautiful UCIs for ZT1. You may have some of her gorgeous paths in your game already. With a new year, come new ideas and inspiration! Stormy is now creating outstanding UCIs for ZT2 and plans to wow us all with some very amazing ... well, you'll just have to visit and see! A little bit of business --- In our recent forum software upgrade, we lost our Download Database.
It is being restored now, and we welcome you to look through what our designers have created and find something to add to your ZT1 or ZT2 game.
We also lost our distinctive berry-and-gold skin, which is being modified to work with the new software.
Some members have also had intermittent problems with their computer security systems -- you may need to tweak your settings to be able to access the forum.
