Renee's Random Zoos
« on: July 05, 2006, 06:41:08 PM »
All zoo projects [that I decide are good enough to upload] of mine can be found here.

First off, my savannah-themed zoo. Not very far. But I've got lots of money to spend. Started with basic grass map.

Entrance: Nothing special. : http://img422.imageshack.us/img422/2746/savannahentrance7nr.png
Overview: Everything I've built so far. : http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/5151/savannahoverview11yh.png
Lion Exhibit: The lion exhibit. 4 cubs in 6 months. : http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/9818/savannahlions2ci.png
Giraffe Exhibit: They like a lot of trees for giraffes. Got a baby one in there, too. : http://img422.imageshack.us/img422/7852/savannahgiraffe3ty.png
'The Hub': Just the center part. And the food court. : http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/1185/savannahhub7cr.png

To all of you experienced zoo builders, this probably looks very plain. But my zoos aren't usually very guest-oriented. Often there are no paths, just exhibits and guests wandering freely. More pictures coming soon [unless the lions eat them].

Looks like a good start. I've never put a food court without tables before. Do your guest get mad about that?

More pictures of the savannah zoo.

Thompson's Gazelle Exhibit: Also nothing special. Unless you count the fact that there was a baby after half a month. : http://img103.imageshack.us/img103/8362/zoo0022pt.png
Hippo Exhibit: The suitability won't go above 82-83 but there's still a baby, and they're pretty happy, too. Also added a statue. Guests flock to statues and they were making my lions nervous [there's one over there too], so I thought I'd even out the traffic. : http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/7637/zoo0031nc.png

I upped my admission price to $100 and there's still 100+ guests.

Thank you so much! *hug*

On to the new pictures!

Elephant Exhibit: 2 African elephants. Again, nothing special. : http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/6338/zoo0048vw.png
Rest Area: For those weary travellers. I downloaded some zoos earlier and these flowers came with one of them. I was looking for something decorative and fell in love with these. The water jets also came with a zoo. I like how this place looks. : http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/6149/zoo0058vq.png
'Pyramid': A pyramid of flowers topped with water jets. I think it looks cute, especially with the brick and benches all 'round. : http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/9008/zoo0063ck.png
Overview: Everything I've built so far that wasn't in the previous overview. :D I added to the food court. : http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/8754/zoo0078ru.png

I don't usually build zoos like this, but I'm having fun. I think I'm going to try new things more often now.

More pictures!

Merry-go-Round: Added this behind the lions. The statues were added to attract guests. : http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/1706/zoo0082nw.png
Landscaping: Added a path around to the Merry-go-Round area. Also added landscaping [flowers] to make it look prettier. : http://img358.imageshack.us/img358/1871/zoo0096jg.png
Pyramid Change: Changed the second tier on the pyramid to waterfalls instead of flowers. : http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/4020/zoo0103qz.png
Rhino Exhibit: Added a Black Rhino exhibit by the pyramid. In this picture you can see the viewing area and lion statue. Also looked at a few guest thoughts, and noticed that they said, "This area is quite lovely." That's a first for me.: :) :  : http://img350.imageshack.us/img350/9761/zoo0114um.png
African Buffalo Exhibit: Added this right next to the Rhinos. There is an observation area. No flowers, for the moment. : http://img350.imageshack.us/img350/6906/zoo0124xv.png
Overview: Overview of the entrance. Here you can see the new carousel and landscaping. : http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/1615/zoo0137gl.png
Overview: Overview of the back half of the zoo. Here you can see the 2 newest exhibits. I think this whole zoo is coming together nicely. : http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/8918/zoo0140pl.png

That's all for now. I'll probably have some more up later today.

Thanks guys.

I started a zoo that's all Desert Tigers and nothing else. My guests aren't very happy, though [I don't care]. But I'm not going to post it.

I was right. More pictures.

Wildebeest: My first time with Wildebeest. I ended up with more wildebeest than I started with shorty after putting them in. This is just behind the pyramid. : http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/8961/zoo0157yd.png
Restaraunt[sp?] & Babies: New restaraunt in the back of the zoo. After 2 months $4,000 profit. Not bad, eh? Here you can also see the African Buffalo and Common Wildebeest babies. : http://img117.imageshack.us/img117/2159/zoo0169ph.png

Gah. Forgot to take an overview shot. I'll edit this post in a few minutes...

EDIT: Here's the overview.
Overview: Just an overview of the latest exhibits. I'm getting really tired of this zoo, and my gazelles are starting to die of old age. This is the last picture from my savannah zoo. : http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/5969/zoo0174qv.png

Here is another zoo I've finished. This one actually didn't take that long. I love how it turned out. It's called Tiger Tropics [hmm, I wonder why?]. This was started on a small grassy zoo with billions of dollars [I edited the game file so I have billions in starting cash].

A shot of the entrance and the path leading to...wherever it leads to. : http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/3480/zoo0185ja.png
Continuing along this same path, some fountains and flowers. : http://img133.imageshack.us/img133/7287/zoo0195cl.png
Going even further along the path you come to a large viewing area and a restaraunt [still can't spell that word!]. : http://img102.imageshack.us/img102/2912/zoo0204yb.png
This is part of the Bengal Tiger exhibit, which is the only exhibit off to your left. Here you can see most of the tigers. : http://img102.imageshack.us/img102/8908/zoo0219eu.png
This is part of the White Bengal Tiger exhibit, which is the only exhibit off to your right. Here you can, again, see most of the tigers. : http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/4222/zoo0225ov.png
Here are two overview shots. : http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/4945/zoo0231xz.png, http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/151/zoo0244ze.png

I really like this design for the zoo. There's the elevated walkway running the length of the zoo, and exhibits on either side. In this one I only used two, but that can easily be changed. : :) :

very nice but could you possibly use jpeg for your picutres insted of png as some people have been reporting problems with seeing your pictures as they take a long time to load for those without broadband or very fast interent connections.

I don't save them as .png. I take snapshots in the game with the snapshot icon, and upload them directly from the screenshots folder to Image Shack. In the screenshots folder they're .bmps, and I don't know how to make Image Shack stop converting them.
