How do I edit DDS files in GIMP?

Anyone know how? It says the file is invalid, and it doesn't read the file.

Do you guys know why?

As I haven't used GIMP I'm afraid I can't help unless you just need to make sure that you have edited the properties so that they do not read as "read-only" any more.

(Just in case, simply right-click the file, go to properties, and uncheck the read-only towards the bottom and then click OK)

You need to first open up the file using a program such as DXTBmp (you can find a link to download here.) DDS files are encrypted, and need to opened with a program that "unpackages" them into a BMP that any image editing software can read. For further instructions on how to make the program work, download VAT, a tutorial on making varients.
