Since the Articles database is still on the fritz, I've decided to post my Offspring guide here instead.

This is a list of all of the animals in the original game, as well as ES, AA, and MM, and how many pups, cubs, infants, eggs, etc occur in each litter, clutch...you get the picture. For anyone who wishes to code their animals to have a more realistic number of babies!

Information contained in this guide are accurate to the best of my knowledge. I tried my best to find the best information and cross referenced until I was satisfied. Not all reports will have the same findings, thus why numbers you may hear or know of may differ from the ones in this text file. This is by no means a definitive source; it is merely a guide to help those who wish to code their animals with an accurate number of offspring. Thank you, and happy Tycooning!

Grizzly Bear: 2 to 3 cubs
Polar Bear: 1 to 4 cubs, average 2
American Beaver: 1 to 4 kits
Dromedary Camel: 1 to 2 calves, average 1
Cheetah: 1 to 8 cubs, generally 3 to 5
Chimpanzee: 1 to 2 infants, average 1
Nile Crocodile: 25-100 eggs, average 50
African Elephant: 1 calf, twins rare
Greater Flamingo: 1 egg
Thomson’s Gazelle: 1 calf
Gemsbok: 1 to 2 calves, average 1
Reticulated Giraffe: 1 calf, twins: uncommon
Mountain Gorilla: 1 infant, rarely 2 (second often allowed to die)

Kangaroo: generally 1 joey, but 2 in very good conditions
Ring Tailed Lemur: 1 to 2 infants
Snow Leopard: 1 to 5 cubs, average 2 to 3
Lion: 1 to 6 cubs, average 3
Moose: 1 to 2 calves, average 1
Okapi: 1 calf, twins very rare
Ostrich: Use communal nests (consisting of 3 to 5 hens’ eggs) containing 15 to 60 eggs
Giant Panda: 1 cub, though recently discovered that they have twins half the time, but one is allowed to die
Red Panda: 1 to 4 (cubs?)
Common Peafowl: conflicting information; 3-12 eggs with 6-8 in wild
Emperor Penguin: 1 chick
Black Rhinoceros: 1 calf
Bengal Tiger: 2 to 4 cubs, typically 3 to 4
Common Zebra: 1 foal

Spanish Lynx: 1 to 5 cubs, generally 2 to 3

West Indian Manatee: 1 calf; twins reported
Bottlenose Dolphin: 1 calf
Blue Marlin: 7 to 10.9 million eggs
Narwhal: 1 calf, twins reported
Sea otter: 1 pup, twins occur 2% of the time, but only one can survive
Manta Ray: 1 or 2 pups
Rockhopper Penguin: up to two eggs, and may "adopt" a third; usually only one survives
California Sea Lion: 1 pup
Goblin Shark: Information not available, as never studied in the wild
Scalloped Hammerhead Shark: 20 to 40 pups
Blacktip Reef Shark: 1 to 10 (usually 4 to 7) pups
Whale Shark: Uncertain. Not even sure if give birth to live young or lay eggs.
White Shark: Different suggestions, from as little as 2 to as many as 9 to 11 young
Leatherback Sea Turtle: Average 3 nests per female with a clutch size of 50; but 100 to 180 eggs per clutch are recorded.
Green Sea Turtle: 100 to 200 eggs
