I used to name all my zt1 animals, If they were asian elephants their names would all start with A : Anita, Alice, Annie, Amber, Alistair..... If they were manatees : Melissa, mandy, Mongo, Mitzi... I still name some ZT2 animals, but not always.
P.S. - You have NO excuse for not naming dinos, they live a looooong time !!!!

I've discovered with ESP, that it's VERY helpful to name the females according to mates. Example, I have two female lions named Lion 2, mate 1 and Lion 3, mate 5. With ESP, this is VERY helpful in not releasing someone's mate, which makes them very unhappy, especially when you're trying to breed. Also, it's quick to do.

When it's a long named animal, like the Scimitar Horned Oryx, I just call them S. Horned Oryx 2, mate 3, or with the chimpanzees, call them Chimp 3, mate 4, and so on... I find it helpful in keeping 'pairs' together.  ;)

I still name my animals.  I name The keepers/scientists/Marine specialists first.  Then the exhibits. Usually after exhibits in zoos, wild life parks or from seaworld.  Then i name animals. I name my keepers after Japanese rock band members for some reson.  And the animals i usually just name randomly.  and always with the same alphabetical letter beginning.  it helps me keep track of births becaus ein large zoos i don't always see the message saying someone has given birth.

I also put baby aniamsl in a nursery section of my zoo.

I used to name my animals, but then my zoo got so big, I couldn't be wasting my time naming the new baby lions (of which there were, like, billions).

Small zoos, sure, but I really can't stand small zoos.

If I name anything, it'll be marine show animals - every time I have a show (dolphins or orca, I don't use the sharks or sealions/otters) I always give the performers names, and if they breed I name the offspring.

Dinosaurs (T-rex, apatosaurus etc.) and whales (humpback, bowhead etc.) I often name too, mostly because they live a long time and I usually only have a few of them (the fact they breed fairly slowly helps).

I used to name my animals, but like Tailchaser said many of the animals breed WAY to quickly to keep track of and I usually end up adopting them out or releasing them to the wild anyway.

I usually name my animals. I name them after whatever that comes up in my mind that will fit or I name them after a word in the language of the area they came from.

I name my animals this way:

first letter of the species name = first letter, and last letter ditto.
So a Bengal tiger i name Boer or Bamboozler or bifger or sumthin, really, its fun making up names!  :lol

As for exhibits, i use species names or if I know, latin names. So my bengal tiger exhibit could
be Bengal Tiger or Panthera tigris B. (Bengalensis is too long)

My zoo keepers are always BTigerKeeper, AsElephantKeeper, SerowKeeper etc.
My tour guides are always Pokemon, and my mt. workers are always Comic characters, ususally foxtrot.

Yea, in all I'm a nerd :P  :><

In ZT1 I never named my animals because, as has been said, they died too fast. In ZT2, I only name certain individuals of certain animals of which I am very fond. The rest I name "Species Lord/Lady", according to gender. It's quite helpful for seeing the gender ratios at a glance. When one of those favorites comes along, I call it "Caribou Lady "Meeya"" to designate the name. I used to use "Male/Female" instead of "Lord/Lady" but L/L have the same number of letters, which is nice for unity. -nods-

I ALWAYS name my animals. I name them something unique every time. Does anybody else name your zookeepers, Matience Workers, and Tour guides. I do! Usually I stick to a rule such as: all zookeepers must have a name ending in the sound -ry.

I think naming your animals and workers makes it feel much more like a real zoo. Think about it: you are at a zoo, and you look into the zebra cage, and you say "Wow! Zebra 2 looks happy!" REAL ZOO'S NAME THEIR ANIMALS PEOPLE! THEY ARE NOT NUMBERS! hehe :lol

I never name my animals because I forget who's who and then when it says 'whoever needs more space' I have no idea what animal it is.

I hardly ever name my ungulates, but I name alot of the others, unless there's a large herd of them.
