Title: NONE of the files are working!
Post by: tycoonistmaster101 on October 15, 2006, 05:48:50 PM
Thats right, none! Not from zt1,or 2. They won't let me extract! It says "The archive is either in uknown format,or damaged." Whats the deal here!? Cause this is really getting on my nerves.:pinch:

Sounds like a re-install is in order here if neither the ZT1 nor ZT2 files will work. You could have a computer problem, also. If you're going to buy MM2, I suggest you wait and do the re-install then, rather than have to do it twice.

Do you mean downloads?

If that's the case it might be that they are not completely downloading for some reason.  I just tried to download this one (http://zoo.ogresnet.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=897) and it downloaded and extracted fine for me, so for starters you could try that one and see if it works for you.

If it doesn't, it's not the site but definitely something on your computer.  I'd make sure you're only trying to download one file at a time, and that it completely finishes.  I'd try disabling any download managers you might be using.  I'd also try extracting a different way - if you're using winzip, try winrar, or the built-in Windows extractor.

If that one does work for you, if you could link to some of the downloads that weren't extracting for you possibly myself or someone else could try downloading them to see if they work.

You might need the latest version of WinZip. You may download it at http://www.winzip.com .

No no,it doesn't have to do with re-installing,it won't even let me extract them to different places.

A few other things you could try to narrow down the problem would be to try downloading a .zip file from another website and see what happens.  I suppose the easiest thing would be to try a different Zoo Tycoon website.  You could also try downloading files in a different browser, such as Firefox if you use IE.

Anyway, good luck and be sure to let us know what happens.  :)

I use Earthlink, and what I find rather weird is I never had these probs until that last update on the site. By the way,a few of my past files aren't working. The black lion,South China tiger,Liger,Asian Lion, and a few others. Their needs wont go up. If they eat,its like they arent. The food doesnt diminish, and they stay hungry.

a lot of the earlier ZT2 animals are not compatible if you have expansions.  Unless the specificaly say works with ES or AA then they dont generally work.

Alot of the ones I attemt to dl say specifically they work for ES. Besides,I can't even get them in the game! They won't extract at all,it says they're either corrupt or damaged or in unkown format. I'v re-dled winrar since I cant pay for winzip, and it didn't work, and i'v looked into the file settings and everything was in order. The last file I got to work was a few weeks ago when I dled the valentines day horse.

Are the files downloading in full? - sometimes I get this message when they haven't downloaded properly.

When you first click to download the file it says what size the file should be, if you make a note of it and then compare it to the size of the file you've downloaded.

If the file on your computer is smaller then it hasn't downloaded properly

How would I fix that? I'v re-downloaded several files several times.

Not overly sure on this one - if you have dial-up then I know downloading can be a pain as your internet provider can time out the connection whilst you are waiting for it to download. (the larger files anyway)

Usually the file downloads ok the second time for me....Some programs can interfere with downloading, try turning a few of the things off in your taskbar (e.g. printer monitors, quicktime etc), I'd leave your antivirus switched on for now though

Every time i download something i get the same message after it gets done downloading.  when it gets doen it opens in WinRa and a message appears, and it says the file name and at the very end it says, The archive is either in unknown format or damaged. what is wrong with it
Title: download cut off point

When people get that message it frequently means you need to turn off your firewall before downloading. Try that and see if the download doesn't work better.  (If you don't know how, ask the computer owner.)

Try downloading with a different browser maybe, like instead of Internet Explorer, try Firefox.

I don't really know what to tell you, unfortunately

Post by: tycoonistmaster101 on December 03, 2006, 12:23:13 PM
I know i'v posted something like this before, but now i'v got a new detail. Whenever I try to dl ZT2 animals,it always,no matter what, stops at 82.4,and I mean always. I tryed the ES persain leapord, and I tryed some skin varients, but it always cuts off at 82.4 then says it can't extract because the file is corrupt or damaged. What can I do to get it to dl completely?? This is getting rather annoying. :pinch:

Grrr...ok,I hate to be such I nag,but i'v gone through the folder option,my comp, internet options, and all that jack, and I still can't find the problem. I'm about ready to destroy this thing. Any suggestions?

Title: Just Wondering...
Post by: goldenpuon on December 10, 2006, 03:03:25 PM
My computer does downloads very slow, about 5KB or less per second.  The downloading proccess will get stuck, lets say 25% and not go any further if I'm opening a web page or doing anything else that involves loading on my computer.  My computer is 3 years old and has about 40% of its memory used. I use Netzero internet. Is this downloading trouble because of my internet provider, the amount of space left on my computer, or something else?  Please let me know.

Thanks!

Post by: ShenTirag on December 10, 2006, 03:46:30 PM
If your computer downloads slowly, that is generally an issue with your internet provider and how fast your connection is.  If you are on a connection sharing with lots of people, this could be the reason your downloads are so slow.

You may also want to investigate your firewall settings.
Title: download cut off point
Post by: csleesburg on December 10, 2006, 03:49:13 PM
Have you tried turning off your Firewall and/or anti-virus? Also, some ISPs won't let you download things that are over 2 MB. Check with your computer administrator first.

ISP is Internet Service Provider - you can't change that unless you change who you get your internet from.

Are you using the AOL browser to download? I suggest NOT. I always use Firefox, only using Internet Explorer when I am forced to, and never, ever use the AOL browser.
Title: download cut off point
Post by: ShenTirag on December 11, 2006, 01:31:02 AM
Yes, do not use the inbuilt AOL browser, please use Internet Explorer (on computer as default) or Mozilla Firefox (available to download) instead.  I believe another user recently complained about files cutting off when using the AOL browser, and using IE instead helped.

Hi Im new to this site and I have problem downloading those file for zt2,

I think my problem is different from others because the file that I download cannot complete 100%, when I try to resume it wont work, but there are no winrar or winzip archive popping up or anything, only that i couldn't complete the download, it continue for a few percent and stop at some percent then when I try to resume it it wont work, using dap (download accelerator), and when I try downloading it using normal windows download, the file stop downloading and said it has been aborted by the server or something like it. Please help me, or maybe the author should fix his download, the download is red footed tortoise and leopard tortoise.

Well have you been able to get animals into your zoos before, hupdo? If your concern is over the 2mb limit some Internet Providers put on your connection, don't worry - you can't get in trouble for it. You just may not be able to download them IF your ISP does that - most don't to my knowledge.

The 2 mb problem is something that is controlled by your Internet Service Provider, and cannot be chnaged unless you switch to a company that doesn't restrict your downloads, unfortunately :crying:
