Sound files?

Is it possible to extract the animal sounds? I don't know what file contains them, or if it can be 'translated' to wav or mp3 or whatever.

The animal sounds I have found so far are already .wav files.  There are some availabe for download on the original ZT website by M$ - http://www.microsoft.com/games/zootycoon/zoo1/downloads.asp

I'm specifically trying to find the chimp. Where did you find the sound files? Are they in the .ztd folder? What are they called?

the sounds in sounds.ztd are just ambiental sounds. seagull sounds etc. I don't know where the others could be.

Go to the entities folder, or the place where all the animal files will be, then click the chimpanzee, sound and select whatever sound you want, or if there is no sound folder search in each and every folder in it and there will be a list of .wav files somewhere!

Simba please pay attention to the game version for the topic before adding an answer.

This is a ZT 1 Question and the file structure in ZT 1 is a lot different then in ZT 2.

Are you comfortable opening a ZTD file?

The sound file for the chimp will be found in one of the animal ztd files.

To find the file I suggest you first just copy the animal ztd files to a new location - say a folder called to extract. This way you do not damage the original files in the game.

Once you have them copied and have the copy to work with then you can rename them from .ztd to .zip and open them to find the chimp sound file. The animal ztd files should be in the main ZT folder or the updates folder as the chimp was an original ZT animal.

let me know if you find it.
