Title: Important
Post by: Penguino on February 11, 2007, 07:53:15 AM
If you do not wish your email to be public, please go to Profile, account related settings, and check the box "Hide email from public". Thank you very much.

May I ask how I hide my age? Quickly? (Sorry, my family is always concerned about things like that)

I believe it has soomething to do with your birthdate.  If you don't want anyone to know your age, just go into Profile Forum options and delete any info on your birthdate.  Don't quote me on this but that's what I think.

Yes, MarineManiac is correct.  You just go to your profile and then to forum profile information and delete your birthdate.

I finally just figured this out today, with much of the help of Penguino, that if you clicked on hide email, it will hide your email.  However only you can see it as well as Admins but members cannot.  I checked and your email says hidden.

THank you for checking that MM, as I was going to suggest that perhaps that you are still able to see it and not members but I couldn't prove that theory on my account. Thanks again!

Ok, thanks, but the admins still know my birthday right?

I'm going to say no ( since there was no option to display birthday and hide age), but I don't think we'd mind if you reminded all of us.

You can set your birth year to 0000 and keep your date if you wish not to reveal your age.

Click on your profile link at the top of the page. Then on the left, click on Forum Profile Information. There you will find that option.

For those members or for parents who may have concerns about ages and birthdays being displayed.

This site is governed by United States laws. Those laws state you have to be 13 years of age to be a member of this forum unless a parent fills out the needed COPPA forum unpon registration giving permission for those under 13 years of age to participate. Having ages displayed helps us to make sure we as a site are operating within the law.

Information sent to this site's webmasters and administrators is kept in the strictest confidence.

I have no problem with our members wishing to hide either their age or their birthdates for an extra security precaution. Howerver I do have to be sure this information is available to any legal authority who may request it through proper legal channels.

Would those who wish to hide their age or birthdate please email the required age and birthdate information including the site username for the member to webmaster@zooadmin.org

This information is available only to Texgnome and Yellowrose the stie Owners/Webmasters and will not be released to anyone unless it is through proper legal means and needs to be released for us to abide by the law.

Your help in this is greatly appreciated.
