Title: Bluefin tuna - dirty tanks
Post by: happyholly on October 20, 2006, 01:57:12 PM
Hi

First of all, apologies now. I think I have already seen a topic about this but I used the search facility and couldn't find it.

Every time I use tuna in my zoo, their tank gets dirty really quickly. I suppose its not a big problem, because I use the money cheat so I can just buy new filters. But its annoying. Is there a solution to this - maybe a hack?

I couldn't find anything in downloads; any ideas?

No, germanwolf, only about 8-10 in a large tank. And the water gets dirty almost straight away.....

Have you assigned a few marine peeps to the exhibit? They clean the tank too so you wouldnt have to worry to much about it.

Hi Happy Holly,

This is a little late, sorry, only just joined :-)

I to had this problem, had a MASSIVE tank, with about 20 Tuna, and it was always filthy.

No matter how big your tank is, you have to much fish, which is why the tank got dirty.

Reduce to about 6 fish max, then your water will always stay clear. Learnt this the hard way :-) Looks a little odd, having this enormous tank with only 6 fish, but happiness is almost always 100 and water is always clear !

THis just begs to ask the question: "Who had the idea to put TUNA of all things in a zoo?" most zoos don't bother with these fish because they r food for most humans

Actually, quite a few aquariums have tuna. But besides from that, they are only there as prey for other animals, not as animals for guests to see.

Anyways, yeah, just put a little less tuna in I think and it should work out :original:

Well waaayyy back when I used blue tuna, I found the same as Holly. Even with only maybe 4 or 5 pairs in a good sized tank, the tank stll got dirty. And in terms of mirroring the natural environment, it should be possible to put a lot more than that in a tank. Eight is hardly a big shoal! :whistling

I think this is for MM for ZT1 - there are only yellowfin tuna in ZT2, and they aren't zoo animals.

Try a re-install, because I used to have VAST schools of them, or try a big tank - they produce 4 fry each time they reproduce, so the numbers tend to increase very quickly.
