How to make hidden files visable & change file extensions
« on: June 09, 2006, 10:29:14 AM »
When you want to work with a ZT file, be it a ZT 1 or a ZT 2 file you first have to make all files visable and make the file extensions visable. To do this follow the steps below:

1. Open windows explorer

2. click on the Tools tab.

3. Click on Folder Options

4. Cilck on the View Tab

5. Scroll down to Hidden files and folders and check the box that says Show Hidden Files and Folder

6. Right below Hidden Files and Folders - uncheck the box that says Hide extensions for known file types.

Now go to the ZT 2 folders and copy the x100_000 file to a place on your system where you can easily find it again. Now when you look where you saved it you will see the complete filename x100_000.z2f.

Before you can do anything with this file you have to change the file extension .z2f to .zip To do this follow the steps below.

1. Right click on x100_00.z2f
2. scroll down to rename.
3. click in the window somewhere after the f to get rid of the highlight.
4. use the backspace key to delete z2f and type in zip
5. click and empty area in the explorer window and you will see that the file is now named x100_000.zip

Now you can double click the file to open winzip or winrar to gain access to all the files and folders inside.

You can't open any ZT file with a zip program until they have been renamed. This is safer then using the open with option because you are sure the right program is being used. It is very easy to select the wrong program using open with options when you are not sure what to do.

Note: 'Depending on the operating system your computer uses you may not be able to see an open with option. Using the above instructions will garentee that you are using the proper program for extracting files.

For using with ZT 1 you change filename.ztd to filename.zip and continue with above to access the contents of the ZTd file.

Hope this helps explain it a little better and good luck.
