Title: Zookeeper601's Zoos
Post by: zookeeper601 on February 11, 2007, 08:35:38 AM
My old topic was lost in the move and penguinman said it would be okay to start a new one so here it is!

I'll post all the old pics then try to get some new ones.

Here's the whale shark tank, had to make the inside cut out bigger because you can't place jeep track right next to tank walls :(.

The giraffes' exhibit. It took ages to make because of the surrounding cliff.

Thanks and welcome!

Florida panther river - the track is covered by the river that runs through the whole exhibit (thanks to zoohio for the idea). This one was pretty easy to make.

More Florida Panther pics then on to the Okapi exhibit.

Post by: zookeeper601 on February 12, 2007, 01:54:15 AM
Okay, here's the Okapi Clearing. An original zookeeper601 idea, place a small fenced area in the middle of an animal's exhibit, then join that area and the outside with an elevated path. This gives the guests a 360 degree view of the whole exhibit.

For okapis, make sure there is lots of foliage since they have no shelters for privacy.

More Okapis, I'm very proud of the pic of the Viewing Area.

Remember, feel free to request any animal you want, I have ZT2, ES, AA, DD, MM and all official downloads.

Here's the hardest one so far, Markhor Mountain. This took about quarter of an hour to make, so hopefully you like it! Unfortunately, the markhors keep falling down the ditches so I may have to do something there but lookwise I think it's lovely.

I decided to place a sky tram tour for guests to see the exhibit as the mountains block off the views. Sky tram is definitely the best way to see the exhibit, I'll make sure to get a pic from the tour.

Wow.. the Okapi exhibit is beautiful! I love all the foliage for them! and the Markhor exhibit is really unique. I'd never be able to get that kinda of symmetry! lol Good job!

Remember to request people!

You're not the only one, Nique, as anyone who has seen my less-than-spectacular cliffs and waterfalls will tell you! :rofl2:

Great pics, there zookeeper601. Sorry your original topic got lost!). If you are taking requests, could I have some PWH, please?   :D
Title: Re: Zookeeper601's Zoos
Post by: zookeeper601 on February 12, 2007, 04:03:19 AM
Okay, here's the PWH. This wasn't too hard, although the slope was slightly harder. I thought this slope to lake was a good idea, because there isn't too much you can do with a grassland exhibit except add some sort of water. I thought it would look good if it was the same level at the corner then sloped into a semicircle, so here it is, Przewalski's Wild Horse Lake.

Title: Re: Zookeeper601's Zoos
Post by: zookeeper601 on February 13, 2007, 01:04:59 AM
Finished, sooner than I expected. This one was quite hard to do because I wanted to get the inner shape as close to the outer shape as possible. The idea is similar to Markhor Mountain except with water instead of mountains. So here it is, Gemsbok Mound.

Open for requests!

That was what my original idea was from, a kind of Motte and Bailey castle sort of look to it. More pics tomorrow morning, a few more Gemsbok then whatever the next request is.

Title: Re: Zookeeper601's Zoos
Post by: zookeeper601 on February 14, 2007, 02:25:57 AM
Right, this took ages to make because it is quite detailed and there is symmetry so that is always harder. This is Bengal Tiger Valley. I got the idea from my local zoo (Whipsnade Wild Animal Park) tiger enclosure. There is the exhibit at ground level with a hill at the back where you can go up and see the tigers from a different view. I was going to do just one at the back but then I thought it would be good to have one at the front and one at the back, then I added elevated paths over the exhibit so that you can see it easier. Here it is, Bengal Tiger Valley!

Title: Re: Zookeeper601's Zoos
Post by: zookeeper601 on February 14, 2007, 10:17:47 AM
Here we go then, Meerkat Trench. This took AGES because all of the dips had to be made plus I had to vegitate the exhibit myself otherwise big rocks and trees would spoil the levels. I struggled to think of an exhibit idea for the Meerkats but suddenly thought of a trench since they use burrows. I'm very proud of this exhibit, lots of effort made it so hopefully you'll like it, especially orangemonkey22 since you requested them :)

So without any further hold-ups, here's Meerkat Trench!

What do you mean by 'Could I use them?', do you mean if you can use the trench idea? If so, then of course!

WOW, very nice. I had never thought of making a meerkat trench. Very creative :goodjob:

Thanks, like I said, I struggled to think of an idea, certain biomes and certain animals are easier to think of good ideas for than others, but then the trench idea came to me. Originally I was going to do just little hills but then it evolved into the trench idea, glad you like it!

P.s. I've added Lions to my list! I'll mull over ideas while trying to go to sleep, that's what I did with the Gemsbok.

Post by: zookeeper601 on February 15, 2007, 02:34:01 AM
Here we are, Asian Elephant Podiums. I thought of this idea this morning in bed. I thought 'Wouldn't it be cool if there was a podium sticking out from the exhibit so that the elephants could go out onto it and guests could see them close up'. Then I thought, 'I could put food on there so that they have to go onto the podiums'. The podiums were a bit hard but not too bad, so here's a pic. More later :)

You have really unique ideas for your exhibits! I love to see how everyone stretches their imaginations to give the guests and animals what they want! I have to say though, the trench idea for the meerkats is really cool!

Title: Re: Zookeeper601's Zoos
Post by: zookeeper601 on February 15, 2007, 12:13:52 PM
Thanks everyone for your kind words! :)

Unfortunately, all of my exhibits are in different zoos as my laptop will not let me have over about 5 exhibits at once. Maybe I could add another one or two to the meerkat zoo since the trench is so popular, then put it up and let others build around those three. What do you think?

Remember, all of these ideas are fine for anyone to use, I'd love to see any exhibits you make using them though!

Maybe I could do a series of zoos with about 3 exhibits in each, just exhibits (nothing else) then put them all up. That way, my comp would be able to handle it, plus any hard ideas would be already there.

Tell me what you think, should I put some of these up?

Okay, maybe I will, what exhibits from the current choice would you like to be added to the Meerkats if I did make a Trio Exhibit Pack?

Or, what combo of current exhibits would be the best in your opinion?
Title: Re: Zookeeper601's Zoos
Post by: zookeeper601 on February 16, 2007, 01:36:48 AM
I'll get some more Asian Elephant pics now.

By the way, the podium idea is universal, you can use it with any animal you want, just stick that bit out, raise and smooth it then put food at the end so that animals have to go onto it to get food. If you want your guests to see a Fennec Fox feeding close up, just add a podium and they'll enjoy it.

Such a cute picture, the Elephants sleeping! Plus one from in the exhibit. After that, onto the Lions.

I know, it's SO cute! I've never seen them sleeping really, I don't usually look, but I wanted to get a pic and saw this so thought it would be a good one.

I'm stuck for ideas for the lion, but I'll keep on thinking.

hmm, maybe a pyramid for the lions. When I say pyramid, I mean more like a Mayan one;and the dominant male lion would lie at the top or something. As for the crocs, perhaps a little water park?

Thanks very much, this exhibit was very hard to make, levels look lovely but they are very difficult sometimes! :) It's funny how I got that idea for the crocs, it was actually based n a hotel I saw in a brochure, it has about 5 pools on different levels, and I thought 'That would be good for the crocodiles!'.

I'm open for requests everyone, also, a general idea (e.g. water park for crocs) would be great too, after doing lots of exhibits, your ideas run out!

P.s. I'm re-attatching all of the previous attatchments (since I have reorganised the pics on my comp) because there are no preview pics.

when your finished with your current requests, i would like a snow leopard exibit. maybe like add like a minature mountain range in the exibit smooth it out a little with the smoother brush (not the flattening one)  and add a little waterfall in the middle of the mountains and have that start a river that goses through a wonderful little forest. whew that was a mouthfull...
