Start-up - Black Screen

Wondering if anyone has ever had this problem.  Playing Zoo Tycoon and Marine Mania for several years.  Purchased Zoo Tycoon 2 - Endangered Species.  Didn't realize I needed Zoo Tycoon 2 until after I installed it.   : :(

I haven't gotten out to purchase Zoo Tycoon 2 yet; instead I went back to try and play Zoo Tycoon.  When I open it now I only have a black screen.  I can go no further.  "crl+alt+delete" reflects the game is not responding.   :erm

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game 3 times with no positive result.  Still the same problem.  Any ideas what is wrong or how I can correct it.

I've had this problem, and I'm afraid I had to buy a new disk. Have you considered that?

The same thing happened to me awhile back...I was really dissappointed when I had to buy a new disk just like Tigress...

That was my next step, but I was glad to get reinforcement from others.  Didn't want to buy the disk and find out that wasn't the problem.  I'll try that today.
