Hey guys, I found out an amazing fact when playing around with which animals like what biome, and I come to a conclusion that.....
All original Zoo Tycoon 2, Endangered Species, and African Adventure animals are all nearly fully content with being placed in any Marine Mania biome. In their biome meter they are in the low greens!
These four animals look nice in the coastal biome:
- Komodo Dragon
- Galapagos giant tortoise
- Greater flamingo
- Hippopotamus
I just thought i'd share since I think it's pretty neat.
(This made me think too hard). :sweatingb
-
The Komodo Dragon is an island animal, so it would sometimes be in coastal areas in nature.
-
Good! Good, I was hoping I could keep my Galagos tortoises in coastal habitats. :original:
-
I tried making a flamingo enclosure and putting coastal down last night, and their biome needs were pressing. Maybe something's wrong with my computer, but coastal works just fine for my Komodo dragons.
-
i dont now wat hapened to your flamingos, but these work fine for me. i also like to mix coastal and raiforest. it only works for some animals, but i think they are downloads.
-
interesting, I should try this some time
-
Yeah, this was a great idea! My Komodo dragons and my Galapagos giant tortoises seem to like the coastal biome and it does make sense since both natuarlly live on islands.
-
another good idea is to use costal with palm trees and put ni some desert/scrub animals
i also think that if u do costal with tr trees u can put in tr animals
tr=tropical rainforest
-
How about the ring-tailed lemur? That's an island animal too.
-
I suppose lemurs would like it. :dolphin
-
Yeah, well I don't have MM2, so I can't tell whether or not they like it.
-
Oh...
Sorry if I seemed like a jerk to you, FN. :crying:
-
Nile Crocodiles love coastal as much as wetlands! :woot:
-
Some of those crocs swim in the oceans in reality, so they should be compatable with wetlands. My only complaint is no DD animals like MM biomes, at least not the rex.
-
No, you didn't, African Elephant.
There's something wrong however -- Nile crocodiles don't swim in the ocean, at least I haven't heard of them doing it. And why would a Tyrannosaurus like coastal!?
-
Well, for true compatibility, somebody should mod all of the animals and make them all like the same thing, say "Coastal". That way, you could have all the animals living in harmony (NOT) :whistling: :slol:
Anyway, I'm glad somebody figured it out (I never would have, I like to listen to the zoo keeper too much!)
:ty1: for the great idea!

Oh. Sorry, I'm usually sensitive about things like that.
And yeah, WHY would a Tyrannosaurus like coastal? Plus, the crocodile thing kinda makes sense, because since Nile crocs live in the Nile River and other rivers in Africa, it does make sense to see one swimming near a river's exit by a bay, or a mangrove swamp, but not in open ocean though. :dolphin
-
i think that a trex would like reef becaus ethe grass for it is TRF
-
^ My thoughts exactly.
I think I might conduct a study to to find which official animals like the MM2 biomes.
-
Tell us the results when you finish!
-
The nile monitor (AA) likes coastal too.

Good luck to you on that! :egggrin
That's one thing Zoo Tycoon 2 will always have over Zoo Tycoon, you can place animals in other habitats/biomes.
-
Wow, this is really cool! It will help us alot with our exhibits! or, at least, with mine. :eggwink I cant wait to try this out, it will make some awesome exhibits. Also, I have also noticed that Asian elephants do well in the rainforest biome. :hammer2:
-
I may try this, but I tend to use the animal's regular biome (or the one the game tells me to).
