I've also noticed massive savannah exhibits gain stars quickly. In every scenario I play, I always have a giant savannah exhibit, and try to include the following:

Thomson's Gazelles, Masai Giraffes, Reticulated Giraffes, African Buffalo, Gemsbok, Gerenuk, Black Rhinoceroses, Gerenuk, African spurred tortoises, giant sable antelope, common zebras, African elephants, Asian elephants.

There's a lot more I'm sure you can put in, but that's all I can think of.

I have found the same thing, I like to use large savannah exhibits with every animal but the big cats...although watching an animal get eaten may make some guests happy it, I don't like it much!  I also use large penguin exhibits, they work well with 6 kinds of penguins or more...but they do need at least one keeper as they are dirty little things.  Had to laugh as my 2 year old Granddaughter went to the zoo and all she had to say about the penguins was they were stinky!

Wierdly my hippos HATE the savannah. I made an exact same exhibit with same folaige, water-land amount, shelters, food, enrichment, keepers, size, fence, everything. And I made one savannah and one wetland. The happiness of the wetland ones was satisfied, but the savannah ones had biome yellow. Wierd, cause in the wild hippos are found in wetlands, rainforests AND SAVANNAHs.

Yeah, I have no problem with hippos enjoying the savannah...weird!

And...guests DONT enjoy animals dying for ANY reason! Even if its old age, they are upset by it. They DO enjoy carnivores "stalking prey" but when they catch them its another story :)

I enjoy mixing up Savannah exhibits as well, but one large one is just too much upkeep. I try to make 2 or 3:

One contains Masai, Reticulated and Baringo Giraffes, as well as Gerenuks. Another Elephants and Rhinos (sometimes I combine the giraffe/gerenuk exhibit and the elephant/rhino one). Yet another contains zebras, wildebeest, sable antelopes, gazelles, and anything else that will fit (ostriches and quaggas, generally)

For rainforest I combine okapis and bongos, as well as a few tapirs.

Arctic exhibits are one of my favorites to combine, and are extremely popular! Combine penguins, caribous, musk ox, and maybe some polar bears.

I think...

-African Elephant
-Black Rhinoceros
-Common Zebra
-Ostrich
-Reticulated Giraffe
-Thompson's Gazelle
-Giant Sable Antelope
-Masai Giraffe
-Warthog
-Wildebeest
-Gemsbok
-Aardvark
-Gerenuk
-Meerkat
-White Rhinoceros
-Greater Flamingo
-Hippopotamus
-African Buffalo

...must surely be THE ultimate African savannah exhibit.

I wish I had ES and AA, then I would have tried the ULTIMATE AFrican Savannah exhibit (probably too big to call an exhibit, must be the size of an entire large zoo, sumthing like a whole park!!)-

1) Reticulated Giraffe
2) Thomson's Gazelle
3) Plains Zebra
4) Bontebok (Zookapi DL)
5) African Elephant
6) Black Rhinoceros
7) Nile Hippopotamus
8) Ostrich
9) Greater Flamingo
10) Gemsbok
11) Giant Sable Antelope
12) Aardvark
13) Masai Giraffe
14) Gerenuk
15) Meerkat
16) White Rhinoceros
17) Warthog
18) Wildebeest
19) African Buffalo
20) Secretarybird
21) Ratel
22) Baringo Giraffe
23) Roan Antelope
24) Lesser Flamingo
25) Dikdik
26) Aardwolf
27) Kudu

I've not included carnivores (except Aardwolf which eats only termites) so that it still is an exhibit that's realistic as an exhibit, all the animals are from the same area, and they're all compatible. That'd be an awesome exhibit. With just one jeep tour going through. That'd be amazing.

I did that once! But the game slowed down ALOT. Anyway, you all are forgetting the secretary bird! As long as you don't have meerkats, (I suppose) They can be added to any large savanna exhibit. (But just add one male, so cleanup is easier and you don't have to worry about it complaining for a mate.

Predator and Prey?
« Reply #18 on: March 25, 2007, 05:51:30 PM »
I'm new to ZT2, and I was wondering if you really can put predator and prey together?

Also, how can you put 6 kinds of penguin?

Thanks,

You can if you keep the predators happy and well fed. Only the Nile crocodile can't be kept with its prey.

Yes I some times put Leopards with Bongos and Okapi. It works well most of the time, but if the Leopard gets to hungry they might attack.

Penguinman made 3 packs that had all kinds of penguins in them.  I am not sure if they have been fixed to work with ZTMM yet, he has been very busy.  I had them all and used them a lot.
