I normally like 2 put a low fence or sometimes high and make moat on 3 sides and then put a path infront of the forth if it is not attached 2 a wall:rolleyes:

I prefer using dry moats, because they look better with smaller walls

i use a ditch in front of guests, then it slopes up to a plateu where animals are. then i use cliffs in the back, with a break for a gate out of view. this way, the guests have a dry moat seperating them, then they can still see level on the other side. i like waterfalls.

I never build sunken exhibits unless I'm really short on money.  I hardly ever even use elevation.

I like building exhibits with mostly cliffs as barriers because if you are playing a challenge game and you are faced with the earthquake challenge, you don't have to repair that many fences.

I usually create cliffs for at least one side of my exhibits, especially if it's one of my favorite animals. I'll make a sunken exhibit for a few, like jaguars, but I don't do it that much. I used to not use elevation at all, but in my last few zoos, I use it all the time.

Okie, I usually raise the elevation for my viewing areas, that way I can use fences that animals can climb over =o

This is what I do: I close the zoo first -- guests are SOOOO annoying, the staff are bad enough. Then, I use a themed window fence according to the animal specie(s) in the exhibit. (unless the animal(s) can't use it)

Rainforest -- Bricks
Savannah, Scrub, Desert, Grassland, Wetland -- Wooden
Forest -- Concrete (there's nothing that seems to match)
Tundra, Alpine -- Tundra Themed

Then I put food, shelters and toys. I only put those that look natural, with few exceptions. Then I use the biome brush. I usually put a deep pool for animals that like swimming, and shallow ones if there's animals that like swimming and those that don't. If there's only those animals that don't like swimming, I just put water dishes and no pools. (Just because an animal can swim doesn't mean it likes it/often does it in real life. Lions for example I don't put pools). Then I add a few staff gates and add the staff. Then I move on to the next exhibit. Nothing fancy really.

That's how I build normal zoos, but sometimes I make certain "projects" like national parks, battlefields, obstacle courses, swimming pools and even live lizard hunting grounds.

:specool: How do you make them? I sometimes use different biome foliage for the location of the world .eg. African Savannah trees and grasses then make the ground and rock biomes grassland for the Ratels and Sec. Birds. I also do this with African Tropical rainforest trees and ground and rock biomes to Temparate Forest  in my Barbary ape exhibit.

Note I close zoos at all times.
National Parks:
1. I choose a location. (Usually African Savannah)
2. I set up an area and put in corresponding biomes (in this case scrub, grassland and savanna, and I often choose maps by the ambients inside, eg: I use desert maps because I want springhares in the park)
3. I put in a shallow water source
4. I put various ground food and natural-looking shelters
5. I put suitable animals
6. I put zookeepers in as rangers
7. Now it's a complete ecosystem

Battlefields:
1. I build a small area
2. I drop in lots of animals
3. FIGHT!
PS: Once I did a water-fight with the animals fighting in a pool!

Obstacle Courses:
1. I build a racetrack only one square wide
2. I put food at the end
3. I make obstacles like lakes, etc
4. I drop animals in to race
PS: I once filled the entire racetrack with shallow water and put in fierce carnivores and stampeding ungulates at intervals. I even made a primate island. (The primate island had no purpose but to make the situation more mixed-up. In the end the mandrill killed all the other primates and then jumped into the water and drowned)

Swimming Pools:
1. I make a huge pool
2. I make a "bank"
3. I put animals in
PS: Once a swimming pool turned into a forest exhibit with gray wolves, wolverines, moose and American beavers, and the beavers built lodges and the carnivores swam across the lake (formerly a  swimming pool) to catch the herbivores. GREAT!

Live Lizard Hunting Ground:
1. I make a small area
2. I put in lots of obstacles like lakes, etc just to give the live lizards a chance
3. I drop in TONS AND TONS of live lizards
4. I put a bunch of carnivores in
5. MASS MURDER!
