I'm looking for fresh ideas and also to see what everyone else normally does.

When you make an exhibit, are you more into function or appearance?
I'm wondering what creative types of exhibits you've seen or made...
Or are all of your exhibits exactly the same the every time?

Links to pictures would be helpful too, if you have them. :original:
-------
Something I use a lot for elephants and rhinos is this design:
http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/4484/elephantexfv2.png

Basically a large, flat, exhibit surrounded by concrete walls until the curve, where short iron bar fencing takes over, with dirt path around that and then a short hedge to keep visitors at a good distance. The shelter for elephants is really large, so part of it protrudes to the adjacent exhibit and acts as the rest of the wall.
I imagine this would look good for any larger animal, for visibility, but I usually use it for elephants and rhinos since their fencing options are so bland....

Dear Persian Cafe, most of the people who want to "show off" their zoos do so in the Show & Tell section. If you want to add more pictures, I'll be glad to move this there for you. Just pick a title for it.

We can't let it stay here, you see, because if you're asking for pictures, it's more of a Show & Tell project. If you don't want pictures, then this is fine. :original:

I think, CSL that Persian Cafe is asking for zoo exhibit building strategies, perhaps?

I like that design very much Persian Cafe! I might try some in my zoos. Mine I usually just kinda fence in and then place some animals and random trees...I'm not very "pretty" oriented in my zoos lol. Unless we're talking guest areas...there is where my creativity comes in!

Hmmm...
See I was debating which area to put this myself!
Pictures would be helpful because it would demonstrate what something is supposed to actually look like, but mostly I would like strategies, as mikaboshi mentioned...

I don't think this fits into either category when you look at it that way... :hmmm: I don't mind if this is moved anywhere, as long as people can respond freely. C:

Well, tell 'ya what. We'll just leave it here for now, and see how it goes. How does that sound? After New Years, when more members get back, you should get some good answers. Happy New Years. :original:

I'm quite interested in everyone's strategies for exhibits. Mine usually end up in the same style, so I'm always looking for some tips.

The elephant house may look like a fence, but does it actually contain the animals?

1)wat i like to do is build the fence however i feel like it
2)next i like to open the animals zookeeper recomendatians
3)after that i give the animal or animals rocks, plants, and trees (in that order)from the animals biome
4)i put in the food and toys
5)the last thing i do is give them a small pond or a deep lake depending on the animal so i dont hav to put in water bowls
