Nile Crocodile Care / Shelters and Privacy
« on: February 13, 2007, 03:02:53 AM »
I am having trouble with my family of Nile Crocodiles. I have about three, and there are always at least two that are unhappy because of privacy issues. Since there is no specific shelter designed for this animal (or at least to my knowledge), I have tried a few that I guessed might be suitable, but none seem to have worked. I have also planted scads of trees to substitute for a shelter and create some privacy for the animals, but I seem to have failed.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Much thanks.

Kat

Moved to ZT2 Strategies

Try making some of the fencing around them something guests can't see through; they may be complaining about the privacy from guests.

A large amount of deep water, trees and some fences guests can't see through as Mika said should do the trick ;)

Thanks for moving my post. I'm sorry I didn't put it in the right place to begin with. As I say, I am new, and was not sure where to post. I see now that there is a section for strategies, so I will post any further questions there.

Thanks for your suggestions. I didn't think about an opaque fence. I bet that's the problem! Also, I have been using shallow water. It seems so simple now.

Thanks you two!

Kat

No worries Kat, people make mistakes all the time, we move posts not to tell people off, but to move them to areas where more people who are able to see the question may answer! :)  I'm glad we were able to help!

You know what makes a good job, too?
Try making a little valley in the middle of the exhibit, then put some water and grass on the borders.
That works for me. I'll post a screen when i make a new zoo.

I have this same problem with Okapis. All but one side of their fence is opaque, and I have many trees in the exhibit. Yet they still complain about privacy issues...

Kat,

I'm new too, although I have been registered for a while, I still have trouble with that kind of thing!

I also had trouble with Nile Crocodiles.

Well, it's never a problem for me 'cause I don't let guests in! :rofl2:

I don't let them in for a long time either, but even when there are no guests, they still complain  :ohmy.

Hope your able to resolve the issue Kat,
