I'm stuck again! Need help with American Beaver privacy!
« on: March 02, 2007, 04:57:01 AM »
I know, I know. You're thinking "God, is she here again asking questions?!"

Well..... I am.

I am having trouble keeping my American Beavers content. I have an opaque fence (large wooden slat fence - the only one available at the mo), deep water, and loads of trees.

What could provide the kind of privacy they need, since there is no beaver lodge in the animal shelters? I wish I had the skill and patience to make one myself, but the truth is that I am clueless.

Can anyone help?

Thanks so much.

Scruffy's right. You just need a pile of branches and if you keep them happy they will build lodges. You can also try deep water or clumps of foliage.

Click on the beaver and go to the "enrichment" icon. You'll see the "pile of branches" there and you can click on it and place it in your beaver cages. You don't have to do anything after that, the beavers make their own shelter! It will take a while, though.

Its easy!

Step 1: Place a pile of branches!

Step 2: Wait a while!

Step 3: Look for a pile of sticks in the water. Click on it and it says "Beaver dam"

Good luck, (but be careful, beavers breed like crazy  )

Also to help with privacy, make all of the fence away from where guests would view it as something solid..offering 3 sides of privacy fencing helps keep the beavers from feeling like they are being surrounded

Or you could even put only opaque fencing, and use a sky tram or jeep tour if you have AA or ES!

Again, be careful with beavers!!!  :slol:
