Thats a good Idea. Then when they come out with MM2, you can alter the depth of the tanks, instead of having just a flat tank bottom.

I agree with y'all that use the combo water. I do, too. To repeat, it's more 'natural'.

My moose, too, spend most of their time in the water, as they do in the wild. So do my elephants, which actually like shallow water too, so they can 'wallow' like the rhinos (who also like combo water) to keep off flies. My Bengal tigers LOVE to play in the deep water!  :happy

i always use a mix, and usually i put waterfalls :) i put shallow water nearer to land and deep water in the middle.  I also rarely use exhibit fences.  i like making my zoos natural, so to keep the animals contained i build cliffs and mountains around the animals, giving them enough space ;)

as someone said before, if you can place them in water, they can swim, except for the fennec fox for some reason.

I only use deep water for tapirs, jaguars, tigers, polar bears, penguins, and Komodo dragons. Shallow water for the rest. :D

Yes, it's especially annoying when animals get stuck in deep water a lot. "blah, blah, blah is in the water and it can't swim!"
Arrghh!

I've found that Crocs can get privacy from deep water - they went absolutely spare in one of my zoos until I added a huge patch fo deep water

I usually use shallow except on a few certain one's. Like Polar bears I always give them deep. I also noticed elephants don't drown in deep water either or at least mine didn't! Zebras, lions and the such I usually give shallow :)

I always use deep water for animals which swim, and shallow for those who don't. :happy I use a combo of shallow + deep for elephants though, because they like swimming in the deep water and wallowing in the shallow water.

I wonder if you could make an swimming pool for guests with deep water?

Hmm... I'll have to give that a try, even if it means dropping them in the pool...

I always make a pool of sholow water, then make the center deep for combined exhibits.  This way, all animals can get what they like. :D

So here's a question, then. Does everyone put some water, either deep or shallow, in all exhibits? I don't always, for example I dont put any water in a lemur-only exhibit, and they never seem to mind. And if I put them with okapi (my fav mixed exhibit) I put a small amount of shallow water, which they dont mind, either!  :rolleyes So should I be putting water of some kind in all exhibits for maximum animal happiness?

Nah, I hardly ever put water in my exhibits, unless it would be aesthetically pleasing, and my amminals are perfectly happy.

I think it's a matter of personal preference, really.

I virtually ALWAYS put some sort of pool for my animals (except the fennecs). It's simply aesthetically pleasing. The animals don't seem to mind, one way or the other, but I like them to be in as natural an exhibit as possible (like the San Diego or Brooklyn Zoos). Pleases the guests visually, and certainly pleases the animals.  :happy

for all tundra exhibits with water, I like too use only deep water.  Since many of the animals (mainly polar bears and penguins) live on pack-ice, the only water is that in which they are floating, which is very deep.

I usually use shallow water so that non-swimmer animals won't drown. I only give deep water to animals that can water.
