I cancelled my online pre-order (since january this year) and got down to the shop today after work- and they had Sims 2- but only the dvd edition

Posted by: Coeur de lion Sep. 16 2004, 07:57 AM
DVD edition has extra stuff on it that normal one doesn't, my preorder has been sent but not rec'd it yet

Posted by: Aussie Koala Sep. 16 2004, 08:59 AM
ok but i have heard many reports from those that have the DVD version find it runs slower on your pc so I did not want to get that - plus having to move my dvd player from old pc to this one. My CD version was shipped but I cancelled thinking i get it here locally after advertisements. Maybe next week then!!

Posted by: admiralphilip Sep. 16 2004, 10:11 AM
I pre-ordered on ebgames and told them to ship it to my local ebgames shop. So I'm just waiting for them to call and say its in.

The DVD version wont run slower than the cd version. Even the slowest DVD drives are just as fast as the fastest CD drives. With a fast processor and graphics card (like your new one) and lots of ram the difference would be minute if at all.

My sister got the DVD version. She's hooked.  I got pokemon fire red, but the sims 2 looks real spiffy too!

Posted by: Coeur de lion Sep. 16 2004, 01:32 PM
I'm actually disapointed that dvd version has extra stuff, i've had sims 2 on preorder since 19th september last year then found out about the extra bits but we don't get the dvd version yet so i wasn't gonna change order and wait even longer but i hope maxis release the extra parts

I don't have it, and I've only seen a quick thirty second preview earlier this year. So what are the big differences between the old Sims and SIms 2?

I don't think they will. It's a bit like special features on a DVD that you don't get with a tape.

Posted by: admiralphilip Sep. 17 2004, 02:43 AM
I got it and its sweet.

Posted by: Aussie Koala Sep. 17 2004, 03:45 AM
Yay I have it now  Just in time for weekend and I brought this big thick prima guide too - after a quick forum read Im off to install

Posted by: rednotdead Sep. 17 2004, 03:47 AM
yep i on way to shops now to get it i also read in the sims 2 forumon official site that there already cheats for it  i get the dvd version later on cant wait any longer

Posted by: dinwrest Sep. 17 2004, 07:07 AM
I might get this if I have enough money becuase I'm also saving up for Godzilla save the earth and ZT2 I might have enough though.

Posted by: Coeur de lion Sep. 17 2004, 11:36 AM
Arrived this morning only played it for a short time but first impressions are WOW!!, its cool so many options it gives and the change from 2d to 3d has been done so perfectly i only hope zt2 changes over as well as this has

Posted by: sheila77 Sep. 17 2004, 03:04 PM
I was going to hold off on getting it but now I think I might go ahead and get it now. I wanted to hear what other people had to say. One of the things that I didn't like about the original was having to tell them to do every little thing!!! Apparently some of that has been corrected in Sims 2. An article I found that gave it a good review can be found http://tech.msn.com/games/ (http://tech.msn.com/games/). It helped me form my opinion anyway.

Posted by: Kuma Sep. 17 2004, 03:09 PM
does anybody know how to make two charcaters you made meet each other?, it was easy in the sims but i cant get them to meet no matter where i go with one of my characters the other one is never there

Posted by: rednotdead Sep. 17 2004, 03:13 PM
cant help you there im afraid  i only just got home and its taking ages to install the game so cant play it yet maybe i have it installed before midnight

Posted by: Kuma Sep. 17 2004, 03:16 PM
well maybe somebody will learn and they can tell me, have fun once you start playing its really cool but i think my character is going to die

Posted by: rednotdead Sep. 17 2004, 03:31 PM
well maybe you can look through http://forums.thesimsresource.com/forumdis...?s=&forumid=489 (http://forums.thesimsresource.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=489) and see if anything helps you

Posted by: Coeur de lion Sep. 17 2004, 04:06 PM
I would think the logical way of getting 2 created sims to meet is get the sims to meetan in game character, when they have both met the same one play as that character to introduce our user made ones or try throwing a party

Posted by: Aussie Koala Sep. 18 2004, 08:22 AM
Right- and Kuma, you go visit community lots - they sometimes there.

I have found some bugs/flaws but nothing too major. I have been turning on/off the ageing process as I think that happens too quickly for the toddlers especially. I bought all these groceries at the shop and then my fridge was still empty and i had to order groceries home delivered- if anyone knows if there is something I doing wrong there I would be interested.

Posted by: James 24 Sep. 18 2004, 11:41 AM
It sounds everyone is having a great time with this game  Hopefully I'll pick up my copy soon  Then I can tell you all the wierd and wacky storys that come out of my computer

Posted by: Coeur de lion Sep. 18 2004, 12:34 PM
haven't tried going to store for groceries i did mine over the phone.
I did get some clothes shopping and found you can buy different styles of same type i got 3 different lots of swimwear

Posted by: Aussie Koala Sep. 18 2004, 12:59 PM
the party thing does not work either as you can only invite max 4 sims - well thats all it lets me invite- and you have to know them. I also could not invite people I met in community lot so I see your problem Kuma. - im sure we work it out soon as we all new at this  - and lots to learn.

Posted by: James 24 Sep. 18 2004, 02:20 PM
Woohoo. I just got my copy  Installing disc 3 atm  I am so excited, can't wait to play it.

Posted by: Sea Unicorn Sep. 18 2004, 02:36 PM
Lucky people, I am probably getting mine on my bday

Posted by: Kuma Sep. 18 2004, 04:42 PM
i found the only way to get two sims to meet that you made so to make them live right next to each other, then when they come to greet you that sim will just show up with whoever else comes. yes they do grow up to fast but i didn't know you could turn off the ageing thing, i dont want my sims becoming elders to fast

also a bug that i found is when your on the second level of a house everything on the buttom level doesn't show like if you can see below through the stairs, they walk over adn started washing dishes the water just comes out of nowhere if your looking from up stairs

Posted by: Aussie Koala Sep. 19 2004, 05:15 AM
ok yes i have been successful with meeting my other created sims by greeting them as they walk past my house.

I will look out for the upstairs thing- I only have built on ground floor so far.

Posted by: wisco Sep. 19 2004, 06:06 AM
for those of you who have sims 2 ... what computer do you have, because I want to know if I can run it with some details on mine. I only have geforce 4 mx440 graphics card and I think that won't be enough to run it normal!

edit: btw, is there a demo?

Posted by: James 24 Sep. 19 2004, 06:53 AM
There is no demo.

I have 1.8ghz p4, 384mb ram and a radeon 9800pro and it's ok but does chug when there are loads of people in the house.

minimum spec

800mhz, 32mb transform and lighting capable video card. 256mb ram.

So if you pc meets that it should be ok.

Posted by: rednotdead Sep. 19 2004, 08:24 AM
i have a GEforce MX400 but my processor is only 688 instead of the minimum 800 but it still plays apart from it running bit slow and the intro movie stutters and is blocky but i can live with that just to play the game

Posted by: Doshi The Yoshi Sep. 19 2004, 12:42 PM
I seen the box at Wal-Mart. It looked pretty good! I think i'll get it, but I have to wait to get my alowence. If it is'nt good i'll trade it in at EB to preorder Zoo Tyccon 2!

Posted by: Kuma Sep. 19 2004, 03:31 PM
i dont think so but i guess they will add them in an exp like in the first sims

by the way i cant find where to turn the ageing thing off how do you do it?

Posted by: James 24 Sep. 19 2004, 03:34 PM
The only pets I have seen so far are fish.

To turn ageing off:
1. Press Ctrl-Shift-C at the same time, a text box will apear
2. Type 'Aging off'
The press enter

I woulde'nt mind if one of my sims died! Because I want to see the Reaper! He's awsome!

Posted by: rednotdead Sep. 20 2004, 01:33 AM
hey can anyone help my sim wants to see a ghost and have a near escape from death (silly woman) how to i do that when she lives by herself so i got no other sim to kill off to grant her wish

Posted by: James 24 Sep. 20 2004, 02:23 AM
I honestly have no idea  I guess it's when the reaper comes down and someone stops you there but I've never done that.

The reaper went and killed the mother of this family and now the child has been taken away somewhere and the husband is scard for life

Posted by: Aussie Koala Sep. 20 2004, 09:05 AM
@RND I have not tried killing any yet- Im doing well to keep them alive at the moment  However, from the Sybex guide in order to see a ghost you need a tombstone or urn on the lot of a Sim that has passed away. With the grim reaper you need another surviving sim on the lot to plead for their life - so not sure how you going to achieve those things

Sims 2 is extremeley interesting and the characters have lots more personality and stories to them

@ James Yikes poor man! I had one poor kid that witnessed a robbery in their home - she had awful nightmares and did terrible at school, threw tanturms all the time and was basically a real brat. Now she is a teenager and her parents got her into private school. She is now is doing well at school and even won the local spelling bee- she still has trouble making friends though.

I have not got as far as having a sim become an elder yet- I have one going to become an elder in 8 days - which means about 3 days game play for me. Her husband does not turn old for 18 days. She is pregnant and also has a child and above reformed teenager. It will be interesting to see what happens then.

Posted by: rednotdead Sep. 20 2004, 09:12 AM
ah well looks like i will have to get someone to move in with my sim and then kill them off either that or invite a neighbour over to use the pool and then just take away the ladder till they drown i dont know why my sim wants to see a ghost or almost die she must be seriously strange   (seeing she based on me in looks and star sign and asperations that a bit worrying  )

Posted by: Zookeeper Missie Sep. 20 2004, 09:54 AM
Wow this game sounds so much better than the first sims. My mother bought me The SIMS2 but I wont get it till my birthday, which is October 6th, so maybe I can "research" it more in depth. I'm trying to talk her into playing it. Them maybe she'll leave her computer on and I can sneak on.

Posted by: Aussie Koala Sep. 20 2004, 11:12 AM
@RND-  yes wonder why they want to do that- do you want to see a ghost and have near life expericenes  ? I wonder if any of the community lots have graveyards they can go to see ghosts?

My family is now in bigger problems- they have twins now and the whole family has turned totally dysfunctional, everything is breaking down, the reformed teenager is back to her tantrums - and I have no idea how to get it under control
Oh plus an old flame of the wife turned up at the twins birhday party and now they not talking to each other and he wont sleep in same bed with her. They have -20 relationship now. sigh

i bought the expensive telescope for one of my sims to stargaze he looked at it and he got abducted by aliens and now just had a baby

Posted by: Coeur de lion Sep. 20 2004, 11:58 AM
red did you choose the knowledge aspiration for your sim as wanting to be abducted and see ghosts is a classic set of wants for them

Oh and AK good luck getting your family back under control

and by the way the money cheat is motherlode

Posted by: Tasmanian_tiger Sep. 20 2004, 05:48 PM
I must say. The sims 1 got me hooked for only a short period. I didn't like to give all the orders like go to the bathroom, eat, etc.. It got a little boring. But Sims 2 sounds interesting. Do you still have to look a lot to them doing bathing and eating, etc..?

Posted by: Coeur de lion Sep. 20 2004, 07:11 PM
they still have those needs but they seem to be filled a lot easier plus the AI for the sims is much improved so they will take care of these things much better

Posted by: Aussie Koala Sep. 20 2004, 07:34 PM
The adults seem to take care of their needs much better- and I have found it manageable in small family. When you have a large family it seems more complicated as everyone is trying to do everything at once - so a lot of time wasting - for example: 2 adults and a nanny might go to feed a toddler- then spend a few minutes picking up and putting it down- until someone actually does it.
The kids themselves are a bit of work. Every toddler I have just wants to play in the toilet and splash in puddles- which according to the guide is a sign of their immaturity and may continue this behaviour into other life stages  You are supposed to stop them doing this by having their aspirations high- but even when they on platinum they still do this in my game.

When they are kids and teenagers I have no idea how to get them to do their homework by themselves- this also is hard work to manage.

Also there is no easy way to tell you out of groceries without clicking on the fridge- so the babies and toddlers yell until the delivery man gets there

Anyway, if you dont want to do a lot of clicking and controlling them , just have a small family !!!!

Posted by: Kuma Sep. 20 2004, 07:40 PM
i really dont like the old poeple in my sims family  most of my sims have jobs so i dont have to control them all the time, but i just dont like having the old sims around then i wouldn't have as many sims to control anyway

Posted by: rednotdead Sep. 21 2004, 02:13 AM
dont you just hate the teenagers they worse than real teanagers all they do is moan and slump around the house and trying to get them to school is murder

Posted by: Kuma Sep. 21 2004, 02:30 AM
i think the teenagers are cool and they always go to school and do there homework easy for me

Posted by: James 24 Sep. 21 2004, 12:32 PM
New flash: The husband of the wife who died and the child got taken a way has died himself

I try to replace the fridge when it get's down to around 50, usually using the computer or phone I never go shopping .

I've got my young Sims to do homework but sometimes I find it best to have an adult help them with it

Posted by: Aussie Koala Sep. 22 2004, 01:38 AM
Does anyones kids do their homework on own ie:without clicking on it for do homework? Mine come in from school dump it on the floor and go off to play and would glady forget about it altogether without my intervention. Sometimes I have to hunt to find where they dumped it so I can click on it for them to do it.

I found out if someone helps them through one full homework assignment, in future they do it quicker- but I have never seen a kid go to the homework by themselves and do it.

Also something interesting for those that do not know - most of the premade families already living in the neighbourhood are there as "tutorials" to show you different features of the game and the different cinematics you can view.
For example: In Strangeville - You can play the Specter family to view the ghost animations and to see what happens when someone dies of old age, Play the Beaker family to view a nervous breakdown and the Siims pychiatrist visit, the Curios family- see a Sim aducted by aliens and also give birth to an alien and the Grunt family to see how you can use the obstacle course to quickly gain body points and also see the military helicopter pick a sim up to go to work.
They are designed so if you play them correcly you see these features within 2 sim days!!

All the neighbourhoods have different families to show different features and its quite cool  If anyone wants to know what other families are supposed to do just let me know and i tell you - its all in the Sybex guide here

Posted by: rednotdead Sep. 22 2004, 01:47 AM
ive heard that bella goth is hiding in strangetown somewhere and i wonder if we are meant to find her and try to get her back home sort of a mini quest within the game ive also just learnt how to build a 5 story house including basement now i just trying to figure out how to make the basement so you are able to put stuff on the walls

I got it. I love it. Had to wait for it to come in the mail but I got it for 39.99 and no shipping costs. That was great. Spending all my time playing now.

I've had the game for about 2 weeks. I find that it can be very dizzying. So far, I had to not save a family cause a child got an F (didn't do all her homework) and got taken away. But I eventually got her back up to a decent grade (She's now at an A). That took a lot of forcing her to do her homework, having mom help with homework, reading a book, playing darts, swinging.............but I finally got her the A. Unforunately, she was rejected from private school for a 2nd time due to the fact that I guess the house wasn't impressive enough for the headmaster.

Don't worry jediliz, you eventually get there- I had all those issues too but now mastering - well maybe not mastering- but overcoming them  - just trying different things and tactics you soon sort it out- keep going and you will have that kid in private school before long.

I had a problem once when the headmaster would not even get out of the car to come to my house- so I put it down to either having the buffet table or some trash in yard. Not quite sure there but once both those things cleared up he came in and all was well. Do not invite him until you have a sim with a high cooking skill also - and a bar there help for the schmoozing- well thats helped me anyway

Posted by: caribou_caro Sep. 29 2004, 12:57 PM
I got it last week and I'm really enjoying it. I bought the DVD version to begin with, but we just couldn't get it to run, so I took it back to Wal-mart and exchanged it for the CD which works fine. I find what I like best is having so many interaction options, especially in bed - you can relax, read, daydream by yourself, or you can cuddle, kiss, make out, or woohoo with someone else. The Aspiration Reward things seem ok but I haven't got alot of benefit from them yet, except maybe the love tub. AK, did you try having some toys around for your toddler to play with instead of splashing in the toilet? They can earn creativity points from the xylophone, or logic points from the blocks. One other great thing about Sims2 is that personal needs take a more reasonable amount of time, and your Sim can actually fulfill needs at work - my DJ gets a full social bar just from working.

Posted by: Coeur de lion Sep. 29 2004, 01:30 PM
I like the fact your needs can increase at work, mine gets social and fun in the athletics career plus he always has a meal

I just wish they had a coffee machine at work, one day my sim was really tired and went to work and when he got home he collapsed on the floor. Darn toddler.

I'm thinking of getting the game, it looks very good.... could you guys (who already own the game) tell me the difference between the DVD and CD version? I don't find anything in thesims.com BBS, beside the DVD version sometimes make conflict and won't install. I'm also afraid that if I get the game, it won't run OK because my PC's kind of old (about 3 years old). the spec of my PC is P4 2 GHz, 1.5 GHz RAM, 80 GB hd (62 GB free space), 64 MB video card (NVidia GeForce 2 MX 200). I think the sound card is built in. thanks in advance

I just got the DVD version, and it runs fine on my computer. I have A LOT less ram than you do (only 256 MB). My processor is a just a little faster than yours but I think you should be fine with what you have. I would try getting the DVD version if you want it, and then if it doesn't work you can try taking it back, like what caribou_caro did. Some places won't allow that though, so I guess see what the return policy is for the store where you plan on getting it first. They say there are some extras with the DVD version, but what it all entails I'm not sure of. I haven't had much time to play it since I bought it, unfortunately.

Posted by: James 24 Oct. 1 2004, 03:34 PM
gysca, 1.5GB of ram? That seems alot for 3 years ago, mine only has 384mb and was 3 years old. Are you sure you didn't get it confused with something else?

Apart from that everything looks ok, geforce 2 getting a bit dated though now and most probably will force you to play on low 800x600. New graphics card are pretty a cheep. A geforce fx5200 or a radeon9200 are pretty cheap and would do the job

Concerning DVD or CD. CD comes on 4cds and dvd comes on 1dvd with bonuses. Depends if your pc has a dvd drive

Posted by: gysca Oct. 2 2004, 10:15 AM
uh.. yeah.. 1.5 GB (not GHz! heheh) of RAM... I'm not confusing it with any other part of the computer.. actually when we (hubby n me) wrote the requested spec (for the store to build it), the tech support people asked us why we need that much RAM.. my hubby calmly said he want to have a computer with as much power possible to last at least 5 years or so, plus at that time he plans to have a server, plus I have a bad habit of opening lots of windows.. the store people kinda forced us to stay "low" with 1 GB RAM at that time, but a few month after that my hubby found a cheap 512 MB stick, so he bought it &  voila! 1.5 GB of RAM  ...we're thinking of getting a new video card, but my hubby said it's time to get a new comp? hehe... still deciding ^_^

but anyway, enough story.... so I have to decide between 4 CDs and 1 DVD huh? there's no other known differences (pros & contras?) than that? I'll probably take the DVD... thanks James24 & sheila77 for replying.

Posted by: James 24 Oct. 2 2004, 10:27 AM
The DVD version also comes with some extras not avaliable on the cd version

i recently got this game and there is one word to desbribe it: EXCELLENT!!!!!

Posted by: lthill Oct. 13 2004, 10:35 PM
I got it and I love it. The Sims2 takes the game to a whole new level. I is better than life because if you don't save you can do it all over again. I made Sims of the Simpsons and The King of the Hill families. Its great

i,ve just been notified that i won a sims 2 dvd from entering a competition at the sims2 uk official site yeah im really excited cos i love playing the game and now im getting the dvd version which isint on sale in the UK yet

Posted by: asthmatic_hyena Oct. 14 2004, 03:51 PM
Congratulations, Red!
I've had the game for two or so weeks. It runs slow on my PC but its otherwise an excellent game.

Posted by: ANIME-NIAC Oct. 17 2004, 07:22 PM
I dont have it but when i do get it I want the dvd because from what I read on the box it has tips on making movies.
And I really want Mad House to be a good sitcom.

Posted by: asthmatic_hyena Oct. 17 2004, 10:16 PM
I know that it has been asked several times before, but what extras does the DVD version come with? I got the game for my birthday, but the givers didn't know if I had a DVD drive or not, so I have the CD version. What am I missing out on?

Posted by: jediliz Oct. 17 2004, 10:19 PM
asthmatic,

there's a bonus disk that came with the game. I didn't really explore it much. But one advantage of the DVD rom version is that the whole installation of the game was one disk and not 4 (is that how many came with the CD edition?). They were priced the same, so I thought I'd get the DVD version cause I had a DVD Rom. But I got more memory a few weeks ago cause the game was sluggish for me.

Posted by: asthmatic_hyena Oct. 17 2004, 10:25 PM
Yes, there were 4 CDs but that didn't bother me much. Since you say that the gameplay is more sluggish, I'm glad that I have the CD version. But what I really want to know is what is on that enigmatic bonus disk...

Posted by: rednotdead Oct. 18 2004, 01:13 AM
included on the bonus dvd disc are

interviews with the sims2 experts - get essential hints and game-play strategies from the makeres of the game
the sims 2 film school 101 - learn movie making tips, tricks and special effects
the sims 2 movies and outtakes, watch films made in game, hilarious bloopers and rare vintage ads from the sims.
exclusive digital goodies, decorate yur desktop, IM or website with brand new The sims 2 assets.

Posted by: asthmatic_hyena Oct. 18 2004, 03:20 AM
Well, then the only thing of that that I would really like would be the movie making stuff, so its OK that I got the CD version.

I have the sims 2 it's really cool!

Posted by: TigerTail Nov. 17 2004, 10:04 PM
I own Sims2, really its my brothers, but he's nice and lets me play!

Posted by: asthmatic_hyena Nov. 17 2004, 11:23 PM
One thing about the game that I don't like is the lack of objective. You spend a while raising stats to max, and then what? He/she dies and you start from scratch? I turned off aging to prevent that, but I would like to see Maxis include some sort of objective, or scenario, with defined goals. I enjoy games more when there is a feeling of achievement from completing the challenge.

Posted by: Sea Unicorn Nov. 20 2004, 12:26 AM
I have it and you could use those hacked objects to max their motives and aspiration. In the hacks and objects section of downloads at http://www.modthesims2.com (http://www.modthesims2.com)

I begged my mom to get it but she told me I had to wait until Christmas... Or maybe even after that because it might be a while until we can get back to America for the holidays... But I got a sneak preview disk and I've played it through and through...

What's so special about the DVD edition ? It's 10$ more so I'm guessing worth 10 $.

I have the normal one . I created a family with my frinends from school , maybe next time I might make a whole bunch of family/friends together (this time all as adults instead of teens)

I cancelled my online pre-order (since january this year) and got down to the shop today after work- and they had Sims 2- but only the dvd edition

I don't think they will. It's a bit like special features on a DVD that you don't get with a tape.

17 2004, 03:09 PM
does anybody know how to make two charcaters you made meet each other?, it was easy in the sims but i cant get them to meet no matter where i go with one of my characters the other one is never there

well maybe somebody will learn and they can tell me, have fun once you start playing its really cool but i think my character is going to die

well maybe you can look through http://forums.thesimsresource.com/forumdis...?s=&forumid=489 (http://forums.thesimsresource.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=489) and see if anything helps you

To turn ageing off:
1. Press Ctrl-Shift-C at the same time, a text box will apear
2. Type 'Aging off'
The press enter

They have -20 relationship now. sigh

Anyway, if you dont want to do a lot of clicking and controlling them , just have a small family !!!!

i really dont like the old poeple in my sims family  most of my sims have jobs so i dont have to control them all the time, but i just dont like having the old sims around then i wouldn't have as many sims to control anyway

Usually it is best to make the family then make a empty lot, move them into that and then build the house:)

I got it.

Posted by: James 24 Sep. 29 2004, 05:51 PM
I just wish they had a coffee machine at work, one day my sim was really tired and went to work and when he got home he collapsed on the floor. Darn toddler.

Posted by: gysca Sep. 30 2004, 10:57 PM

Posted by: sheila77 Oct. 1 2004, 11:20 AM

I have the normal one . I created a family with my frinends from school , maybe next time I might make a whole bunch of family/friends together (this time all as adults instead of teens)

The weird bunny guy - I think he was like a pizza guy or something
The odd tribal guy - medic
Miroku (from inuyasha)
Kagome (also from inuyasha)
Me
an my daughter (no I don't actually have one I just wanted 8 sims :happy )

most were made using the debug thingy . My favourite was me (even though he looked nothing like me)

Highlight for the money cheatGet the cheat screen up, and then type in motherlode for like 50,000.

Go to Strangetown. There's this one house with stairs on top (in the far lower left). It's got three men. Play it for a while. Highlight again to see what happened to me the man had an alien baby!
The Sims 2 is a great game. I don't have the expansions. My brother got it from his friend but it didn't work on any computer exept my moms so I played it there and then she said that I couldn't play it on there now :( I think it has stuff to do with that disk so I'm gonna get it and hopefully the expansions (Especially University) for  Christmas.

I just got the Sim 2 a week ago and I am addicted. I have many families started. Sad to say that one couple, the dad is getting older and will most likely be gone about the time his adopted son, Dustin becomes a teenager.
I think I have gotten to attached to this family. He was my first Sim. I wonder if I will be wearing black while I am mourning! :sad
LOL
I love building the house, but by the time I am done, no one can afford them! LOL

Has anyone ever used the (highlight) boolPropCheatsTestingEnabled true code? thats probably not how you type it (I can never remember how to type it! :><) but its this really powerful cheat. You can even just drag SIMS' mood and skill bars right up using this cheat! :w00t

i think that there should be an expansion pack w. animals. like.....

dogs: different breeds like huskeys, golden retrievers, dacshunds, german shepards, and great danes
Horses: Quarter horses, clidesdale, shetland ponys, appaloosas, paint, and thorobreds.
Small pets: Hamsters, birds (all kinds), lizards, snakes, guinia pigs, ferrets, turtles, rabbits, and mice.
livestock:cows, pigs, chickens, sheep, goats, and geese.
Cats: all kinds

and also some new objects......
Bowls: food, water; different sizes
Cages:crates for dogs if they are being rude. Kennels for dogs if they are outside and you do not have enough mula for a fenced in yard, and cages for all the small animals.
beds
toys
barns for the livestock
new fence

and community lot objects

Pet Shop supplies
playpens
playground toys

and just new stuff

well you can run your own business which is great - but word of advice -DO NOT USE YUR OWN CAR TO GO ANYWAHERE ALWAYS USE A TAXI - theres this massive bug in the game at the moment and we are now waiting for a patch so we can drive the cars from nightlife again. and there also seems to be a bug with the uni and open for business packs so again dont use the uni neighbourhoods till its fixed - but apart from that its great lots more stuff to buy and they are bringing out 2 mini ep's in the next few weeks as well so even more stuff to play with

I just recently bought the Sims 2 and Universty and Nightlife. But I have a few questions.
How do you remove walls?
How do you make Alien Sims?
And is there a cheat or hack to get the asperation rewards like the Cow Plant?
Thanks in advance for answers.

To remove walls, hold the control key while in build mode! The cursor turns into a bulldozer. Drag this along the wall that should be removed!

I am not sure how to make an alien Sim! Sorry

You can only get Alien Sims by getting your alien sims in strangetown to conceive. Otherwise, u can go to ModtheSims2.com, for downloads regarding making your own alien

no thats not true you can get alien sims in any of the neighbourhoods if you stargaze with the expenesive telescope between 7pm and 2am (or 2am and 7am cant remember which) there is a possibility that your sim will be abducted and if they are male a possiblity that they will come back pregnant with an alien baby - and also there is the maxis made alien skins that you can use to make your own alien sims and to get the asperation there are vartious cheats that you can download or even use the unlockcareerrewards or the asperation cheats that you can type in the bar apter presing ctrl+shift+C

Title: The Sim's 2 and expansions
Post by: RedNotDead on March 17, 2006, 12:07:47 PM
ok when playing the game press CTRL+SHIFT+C and you get the cheat bar up

for the careers cheats type in unlockCareerRewards and press enter (note you must type it exacly as i have typed it)
for the asperatins type aspirationPoints num (the num being your chosen aperation level)

or lockAspiration on which stops the asperation levels going down for all sims on the lot
or aspirationLevel ]0-5] for selected sim which gives a big chunk of asperation reward points to the selected sim - with these you soon will be able to get all the aspirations rewards.

Star-gazing works, but the baby may not be an Alien. There's a 50% chance of it being an Alien, so it's not worth having your Sim gaze until their motives reach zero. (Unless u're using MaxMotives cheat). The best way is to package your Alien Girls from Strangetown over.

they bought out a patch for the bug almost within days of the game being released - same as for family fun once they relised their was a major bug they got a patch out quickly.  in fact they ahve just changed the patches to included even more bug fixes which makes me happy cos one of them was for my specific graphics card, so now my Servos work properly.

dlugopets if you check out the front page

you will see the paw print after the blurb about the glamour pack and in teh forums there is a whole topic about the meaning of the paw prints that have been appearing on the site.

Well its offiical now the next EP after Glamour pack is PETS!!!!

http://thesims2.ea.com/

Quote
Players will also be able to teach their pet new tricks, take them for a romp in the park, outfit them with new pet accessories and even give them a job! As in real life, your Sims’ pet will require care and training. A neglected cat with an urge to scratch might claw up your new couch if you aren’t careful, and leaving your dog unattended near a freshly planted flower bed probably isn’t wise!

"The Sims 2 Pets captures the magic between pets and their owners," said Executive Producer Rod Humble. "A dog gnawing at his chew toy, a cat jumping at a dangled feather, a toddler stroking the chest of a big dog who sits by patiently—even a frisky dog getting caught rolling around in the trash. These special moments all come to life through the lifelike animations and artwork of The Sims 2 Pets. There is something delightful about your Sim, a little pet person, having a pet of their own. Pets allows players to tell more stories with their Sims and helps create more emergent anecdotes within the game."

So far they have 34 breeds, but in the create a pet, you can create pretty much any type of breed, from what I gathered by reading the press release and info page.

If "Pets" includes Birds and Reptiles, plus smaller mammals, I might just buy Sims 2. I think it'd be cool if they Made a Sim Zoo, and you could tranfer the zoo to Sims 2, and visit the zoo.

dlugopets, thanks for those links. I haven't been at that site since they started hinting at that EP, so i was pretty out of touch with the progress and timeline. This pets EP looks very interesting. I remember the one for The Sims 1 - so much fun!
(ah, gotta love those crazy barking cats  ) That's the one thing i was hoping they'd see fit to add to The Sims 2. yay

RedNotDead, Oh dang! Did they hint at what type or is it a surprise? You know, i've never pre-ordered a game, i'm one of those folks that actually enjoys the hunt for a copy on release day.
<-----Nut! :loony:
But with more developers offering exclusive content on the pre-orders its starting to look like it may be time for a change. (Tricksie devs) I too get every rediculous EP they put out, i did get the Family Stuff EP, but not the Glamour Life EP yet. Now if only my nephew would kindly return my copy of TS2 that i lent him for the summer...

well its a cat LOL at other sites they are offering differnt animals depending on where you order from
You can also get a Star Dalmation when pre-ordering from Play (http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/1102136/The_Sims_2_Pets/Product.html) and a Purple Pug from Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sims-Pets-PC-CD/dp/B000HG3JIC/sr=8-1/qid=1159186745/ref=pd_ka_1/026-5839108-3967641?ie=UTF8&s=videogames).

These are from Uk sites but from other places around the world there may be different animals on offer.

I play The Sims 2, too.  I pre-ordered Pets through the EA Store, but that was before they offered the bandit cat for pre-ordering.  I have no idea if I'll get the cat or not, but I'm not that worried about it.  I ordered through EA because it was the cheapest store for me.  I guess EA likes to have returning customers.  I seem to constantly get coupons from them.    Not that I'm complaining.  : :P :  I have all of the Sims 2 expansions and stuff packs, and I've been sent so many coupons that I've practically gotten Glamour Life Stuff and Pets for free.  I've pre-ordered Nightlife, Holiday Party Park, Open for Business, Family Fun Stuff, Glamour Life Stuff, and now Pets through EA.  I bought The Sims 2 DVD Edition at Wal-Mart on Christmas Eve 2004, and I got University at GameStop.  The day University came out, I ran around to about 4 stores before I finally found it at GameStop.  After that, I decided to save my sanity and pre-order.  I'm still torn on pre-ordering MM2 or waiting until it hit stores.  I might have to wait on that until January.  I don't have the money to really be buying it right now.  It was Pets or MM2.  :sweatingb  I chose Pets because it was cheaper.  I might get lucky and MM2 will be on sale by December.  I can hope.

I hang around on The Sims 2 boards and I'm constantly hearing people complain about the pre-order items.  I've been on that board since Christmas 2004 and I've been hearing these complaints since August 2005 when Nightlife's pre-order item (the hotrod) was made available.  Most, I believe, are kids that can't get their parents to pre-order for them so they complain about not getting the items.  Others live outside the US, but, as RedNotDead pointed out, the star dalmation is now offered on Play.com.  Since that's a UK site, Americans can't get that animal unless we want to pay heavy shipping.  EA and Gamestop both offer the bandit cat, and the US Amazon offers the purple pug, too.  The animals aren't downloads anyway.  If you read the descriptions closely, it says they're all unlockable from within the game.  I saw a whole fiasco with the three Glamour Life pre-order items on the Sims 2 boards just a few weeks ago.  People were giving out their code words to download the items so everyone could get them (before Maxis cracked down on those people), and then someone discovered Wal-Mart.com actually posted the code to their item (a painting).  Since that was legal according to one of their mods, I was able to get my paws on that item.  The EA Store hadn't done a pre-order item for Glamour Life so I got jipped in that respect.  At least Wal-Mart was nice.  I can see the codes for the pre-order animals popping up all over the place within the first week of Pets being released before Maxis starts putting out ultimatiums or something.  But, since they're already in the game, a clever modder can unlock them in minutes.  The question of whether or not they will remains to be seen.  All of the modders I know like to keep to the law side of modding.  :original:  That won't stop others from cheating, though.  :pinch:  Those people are going to ruin it for the rest of us.

That was very nice.... no offense, but try to use more Paragraphs.  at least, that's my opion.  it gets sorta hard to read if its a huge blob.....

But anyway, you could prob just search sumthin on the internet and find the cheets. It wouldn't be that hard.  I would however like a real looking animal.  A purple pug is a bit too out there for me.

[modnotice=RednotDead] Do you have to be so rude.  You should look at your own posts first and maybe learn to spell to make your posts easier to read, i.e. it's something not sumthin and cheats not cheets[/modnotice]

I wasn't trying to be rude!  Why did you think that?

I said "no offense!"  I was just giving the person a suggestion.  They were new!  I don't get what is so rude about trying to give some helpful hints.  If someone told me something, I would consider it!  Look, I'm taking you're suggestion!

Plus, if you want me to spell write, I will.

Anyway, I am having a problem playing the game.  Everytime I play it, it lags.  Does anyone know how to make it perform better?  I've let it stay on two days, and on the 2nd day, it was just starting to let the people move.  Please, help!

Where do you enter them?
Title: The Sim's 2 and expansions
Post by: RedNotDead on October 22, 2006, 12:09:32 AM
on the main neighbourhood screen - click on the options button then the one that looks like cogs (far right top button) when you have clicked on that you will see a key on the bottom right of the screen click on that and you will be shown a box to enter the code.

All codes are 19 alphanumerical characters long, of which the first 7 and last 6 are unique to the individual player (probably based on the key or an install ID). Hitting "Generate New Code" against an already unlocked item will make a completely new code including the prefix and sufffix but all should be 19 characters long. If you see any codes that are less than this (or more) they may be typos and you need to double check.

there are 46 codes in total

also they have now announced a new fun pack coming out in November another Holiday/christmas fun pack bigger than the first extras pack they did.

The facial features you can change a lot, so you have a lot of choice in how your sim looks
As you progress through the game your sim will age (although you can win objects to slow down this process), it is a highly addictive game!
Every month or so I delve back in, create a new family and get to the top of a career, I'm currently working on getting a restaurant in the Open for Business xp

dunno off the top of me head, but if it worked a long time ago, you might have installed something that takes up space that the game might run better with, or you might just need to do some maintenance on your PC or something else... My Sims2 works great if you play it first, but if I've played ZT2 first, I need to restart the PC before either game works again - they go all glitchy, but that might just be my computer... ^_^

Is there a list anywhere of the expansions and the order?  I might be getting Sims 2 and Pets (been a while since I've gotten a new game) and it seems so fun!  However I might splurge for any expansions that came before, but only the ones that seem good, so I don't have to uninstall...what a pain!  Hehe.  Any recommendations?

Also I've been at the store and seen like mini packs that just seem to be some extra outfits and objects and stuff...do those matter for installation order, does anyone know?

In order of install

Sims 2
Uni
Nightlife
Open for Business
Pets

Minipacks
Family Fun
 Glamour Pack

extras
Holiday pack 2005
Holiday pack 2006 (which contains 2005 stuff as well)

if you get the mini packs like fmaily fun and glamour pack install them before Pets if you dont get Pets then install them after Open for Business.  The extras discs dont matter when you install them

At Best Buy today they were selling Sims 2 with the Holiday 2006 pack for the same price as Sims 2 without it.  So I got the new version to get the holiday stuff.  :original: :original:

yeah, peacenote, that it what I am going to do. Oh, and i saw this really awesome mini-video on youtube for Sims 2 Pets. It is by one of the creators of Sims 2. It is really good. It shows you some of the cool things you can do with Sims 2 Pets, and some of the things you have to keep in mind. If I am allowed, I would paste the link here. If not, just go to youtube, it is called Sims 2 Pets walkthrough.

It's been 2 days.....

How much did you guys pay for the Sims 2 game? I just bought it at Best Buy forr $40, and it seemed like a little more than what I should have paid. Also, when I bought it, there were 4 discs labeled disc 1, disk 2, etc. Are they all used to load the game?

well, I just finished all the tutorials, and it looks pretty fun. I can't wait to get Pets! I have make a little more money before that, though. : :( : I'll just experiment with the original for the moment. Oh,and when you activate a cheat, like the never-aging one, it only works for that town/game right? SO that your Sims can still age in other games?
Title: The Sim's 2 and expansions

I'm not sure about that particular cheat, but you do know there is a money cheat?  Actually, there are several....
Title: The Sim's 2 and expansions
Post by: mikaboshi on November 24, 2006, 10:56:42 PM
I don't know if your sims DO age in other games, actually. Like, if you are playing in just one house of the neighborhood, then the other sims in other houses stay in the state that you saved them in; they dont all grow up too. So in that instance, the question is null. If, however, you are switching between houses, then I think the cheat is in effect until you quit the game. I could be wrong though.

Mikamod confession: I officially played Sims 2 Pets for about 6 consequetive hours today. And I don't regret a second of it! Mwhahaha.

Wow, I can't wait to get Pets, and I'll be on the computer as long as you guys! Well, i just did all the tutorials last night, and now I am going to start experimenting with the game. When you build a house, do you have money to start off with, or is it free? Could you tell me one of the money cheats?
Title: The Sim's 2 and expansions
Post by: Bengal on November 25, 2006, 06:32:28 AM
If you start building a house on a lot that is not occupied, it doesn't take any money and is totally free. But once you have a family buy that house, the amount that you spent building will be the price.  If a family does own the lot you are building on, it takes from their money.

The two money cheats are kaching and motherlode, I think kaching is for 1,000 § and motherlode is 50,000 §..I'm not exactly sure about the amounts. I do know motherlode gives more than kaching.

I motherlode like there is no tomorow, make my own house and sims, make it as fancy and nice as I can, decorate to make it look cool, move my sims in, and then live it up!!
I have quite a bit of patience when it comes to this game! XD but you have to be, when it takes 15 minutes to load a family! But seriously, one of the best games ever, and my cousins and I have been playing it for the last, oh iI dunno, 2 weeks!

OK, so I started a new thing, and got a lot and started to build my first house on it. Didn't get very far. I got totally confused and my house looks like **** and the area between my house and sidewalk are hilly and I tried to level it out and I just spent the last half an hour getting frustrated because I couldn't get my house right.:pinch: So.... I really need building help. How do you activate a money cheat?
Title: The Sim's 2 and expansions
Post by: Bengal on November 25, 2006, 08:28:55 AM
To use the money cheat, press Ctrl Shift C all at the same time. This will open the cheat box.  Then, type in motherlode (or kaching- I use motherlode because it gives more) as many times as you want to increase your Simoleans.
Title: The Sim's 2 and expansions
Post by: germanwolf on November 25, 2006, 10:44:46 AM
cool. Thanks, Bengal. After you make a lot and a house, how do you create Sims(people)?
Title: The Sim's 2 and expansions
Post by: Jane on November 25, 2006, 02:02:29 PM
As Bengal said
press ctrl+shift+c to open the cheatbox. Press any letters and enter to make it bigger and not disappear as soon as you press enter. You have to take it away with esc.

You can print motherlode and press enter over and over this way to get a lot of money or even better you can
print motherlode, press enter. Copy motherlode with ctrl+c and past it with ctrl+v
enter past until you have enough money.
Mostly new Sims can´t buy many buildings as they only have 20 000 from start so I drop them at an empty lot, give them the money they need, save and leave to neighbourhood.
Now just move family to family catalog and move them to the house you want them to have.

The Cheat for not aging.....aging off+enter is just for that particular family and will remain until you take it away with....aging on+enter.

There is also this wonderful cheat that will give them all skills, make all needs satisfied make them platinum, set to birthday and much more.
Use this one carefully and when having an error, be sure to press reset.
The spelling has to be perfect
boolProp TestingCheatsEnabled true
press enter.
Make this before open a lot or you have to save, go into neighbourhood and go back.
There is also a twin cheat but best making twins is to let the sim eat cheescake, any time while waiting baby

I've had my Sim go crazy and this therapist came and got him better and stuff.... It was weird.

Anyway, you can probably make a wolf - just get a dog and shape it and give it the characteristics of a wolf.

A tip to get wolves to come to your lot: Put lots and lots of trees! They are also attracted by toddlers. I ended up adopting 2 wolves!

You adopt by calling the adoption service..on your phone of course!

I just downloaded Sims 2 Pets, and now I have a HUGE problem. Whenever I enter a lot, the screen turns blue, and only the Sims and a little area around them are normal. The Sims still move and such, just the screen is blue. Or, instead of turning blue, sometimes the screen flickers and turns a blank green color and then flickers back to normal every second. I've just spent the last hour and a half trying to see if I could fix it, but nothing helped. ( but I suck at computers anyway, so it's not like I know what exactly is wrong ). I sent my question to EA games; I hope they will respond. I spent alot of money on Sims, and I really want it to work. If somebody could give me suggestions on how to fix this.... it would really make my day. I am so mad at myself and the computer right now.. I want to scream. :crying:

@Germanwolf: I had been reading for Sims 2 that the Stuff packs and Pets 2 require a better video card than the original Sims 2 game, so some people were reporting graphics problems after installing Pets 2.  If a drivers update does not fix the problem you should check the requirements for Pets 2 and make sure your graphics card still qualifies, as apparently there are different requirements than the original game.  At least that's what I read.

Otherwise I'd just try installing and reinstalling everything.  I had to do the first time to get my Sims 2 to work - it wouldn't launch at all the first time I installed it; it kept quitting with an error.

I also have a general Sims 2 question - how do you get the Sims to apologize to each other?  I can't figure it out.  Sometimes in their aspirations it says they want to apologize to someone but I can't figure out how to help them do it.
Title: The Sim's 2 and expansions

I re-installed Pets to see if that would help, but it didn't. The blue thing is mainly gone now, but the Lot screen still blinks and is wierd adn sometimes when I am creating a Sim the floor blink blue for a second. Thanks for the info, Peacenote, but since I am not good at computers, I will have to wait until my father comes back from his buisness trip on Monday. : :( : How do you get a new graphics card? Do you have to buy it, or can you update? I *think* I updated my drivers, but it didn't help.

@ Rosina- I'm pretty sure you have to build your relationship back up to a certain level before the apologize option appears. If in the relationship panel, the person which you are in a fight with's icon is still red, try doing certain things that will raise your relationship and see if it becomes available. What version do you have? I have all of the strategy guides so if that doesn't help, I can look it up.

@ Germanwolf- What type of video card do you have? I don't have an exactly great one, but it still works with pets. If you want a new one, you have to buy it. They don't run cheap either, unfortunately. Mine was $70, and that's for just an average video card. (I don't get reflective water in ZT2, but all the games I play is compatible with it.) I have a Nvidia Geforce 4000, so if you want to get a new one, I would recommend Nvidia. They are all around good cards. To update your drivers, go to the manufacture's website (the brand of your video card) and there should be an option somewhere on there to update your drivers.
Title: The Sim's 2 and expansions
Post by: germanwolf on December 03, 2006, 07:27:39 AM
How do you find out what your video card is? I've had my computer for about a year and a half, and it is not old, and I can get reflective water on ZT2, even if it does run a little slower.

Right-click on your desktop and scroll down to properties on the box that comes up. Hit the "settings" tab and it should tell you what type under "Display."

Or, you could run dxdiag, buy clicking Start- Run.. and type in dxdiag in the box that comes up.

Thanks for the advice, Bengal. Also, I have another question: How do you adopt stray animals that wander around in your backyard? There was a stray cat called Noodles in my backyard, and I wanted to keep him, and welcomed him and gave him a bunch of kitty stuff, and he stayed for a while, but then went away.: :( : How do you make him part of the family so he shows up on the family icon thing on the left side?

I'm assuming you meant me, since I asked the question, so sorry if you didn't!

But I have the Sims 2 w/Holiday Edition and just the Pets Expansion.  And the Glamour Life stuff, although I don't think that matters.

So they have to be not red anymore to apologize?  Kind of defeats the purpose, then, huh?  I thought it would work to get them less mad faster.

Oooh I also have two more questions now:

1.  Is there any easy way to locate bills and homework?  I have a problem where I keep losing where they put the bills, and can't find them.  Same with homework - in a big house, I can't seem to remember where they put it.

2. Is there a cheat to delete things in use?  One of my beds somehow got marked as being in use even though no one is on it.  So no one can use it, and I can't delete it because it says I can't delete things in use.  So it's just sitting there, taking up space!!

Also, referring back to my question, how do you adopt stray animals that are wandering around your backyard? I wanted to keep a stay cat called Noodles, and I put in a bunch of stuff for him and he stayed ahwile, but then he left. How do you make them part of the family?

maxmotives keeps your sims happy and their 'needs' bars green. U know, like energy, environment, hunger, etc. just tpe it in the cheat-code box when you press ctrl + shift + c, and you have it! I type it in every 10 min or so, when the bars start to go down again. I can focus with them more on what I want to do with them, rather than keeping their needs happy.

Ok, I want to download the scissors, and I click download and then open file, and then it says " Please double-click a custom content package file to install the content." What does this mean?

oh, OK, thanks. yeah, I kinda understand what RedNotDead meant. The runs with scissors thing kind of sucks. They don;t even run with them. They just kind of "poof" from one place to the next, holding the scissors.

Thats because you have the updated version of them  They were actually released as an april Fools Joke a few years ago and if you donwloaded them on the day you got a special pair that was quite funny in the interactions with ohter sims and the accidents that happened whn you ran with them.  The day after april fools Day the sciccors were replaced with a less fun one.

I don't know about unlocks, though I looked for some. I did however find these snippets of coolness on gamefaqs.com

Listen To Mp3's On Sim Radio
First get whatever Mp3's you want to put on the game, then open up MyDocuments/EAGames/TheSims2/Music/(whatever RadioStation you want your song on). Then, Drag your MP3 into the folder. Now, start Sims 2 then go to options menu, then music settings, then the Radio Station, then pick witch songs you want the radio to play. You can now listen to your favorite songs in your Sims game.

Use your own videos for the TV
It's possible to watch your own videos on the Sim-TV. You must put the video you want into My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Movies\Broadcast (the TV sender you want). If you then turn on the TV in the game you can watch it! The video must be .avi-clips and the clips shouldn't be larger then 128x128 pixel also it shouldn't have more then 15 frames per second.

Cool info, mika! Also, I havea question for the Pets codes that RedNotDead posted on page 15. So do I just enter these codes when I have clicked on the key on the right-had corner, and then the other, smaller key, when the "Enter code" box pops up? Because I got kind of confused about the part you said on the bottom, about each person having a unique code or something.

yes you just enter them on the screen and it dosent matter about the unique code  that only matters if you send the code to someone else via your game (which no one does LOL)

Well I got Sims University & Open for Business for Christmas!!!  I think I'm going to buy Nightlife so I only have to uninstall and resintall once!

But I have a question for all of you Sims 2 experts.  Well two actually:

1. Am I going to have to (or is it advisable to) uninstall the original Sims 2 game, or can I just uninstall my Pets and Glamour Life expansions, before I start with University, etc.?

2. When you install each expansion pack, should I launch Sims 2 and restart the computer in between each one, or should I just run the install for each expansion all in a row without bothering with that?  Any advice as to which way would cause the game to run better if any?

Thanks!!

Also I am wondering if there is still a way to get the fun version of the running with scissors item!!  : :P :

TSR the sims resource is the best place to get what you want for your Sims, so even cheats

http://www.thesimsresource.com/ (http://www.thesimsresource.com/)

What I know, you don´t have to uninstall to install new expansions.
Be sure to get the patches though at The Sims homepage
I haven´t used the scissors myself, but I am sure it will work in any version

Peacenote:

1. I would uninstall and then do them in order; usually it makes you do that anyways. If it DOESN'T make you, then I don't think you have anything to worry about, and can install them in any order

2. I would restart the computer after installing ALL of them. That's what I usually do anyways

}eacentote its best to uninstal and then reinstall in this order (including adding the path for each version before adding the next one)

sims 2
Uni
Nightlife
Open for business
Family fun
glamour pack
Pets

if you haqve the xmas min packs it dosent matter when you instll it

as for the original run with sciccors no i dont think that is possible anymore you could ask on asite like modthesims2.  they are very good at finding things like that for people.

I looked at the website to see what it was all about, and there's a couple of others, not just the Life Stories one. There's one about pets and another where your sims are stuck on an island (castaway, I think it is...) and you have to get them to find food and all that sort of stuff. I like the sound of that one, it's something a bit different :original:

So how does everyone like Seasons so far?  I'm really enjoying it, for several reasons - weather is a great addition to a Sim day.  Also, being able to store leftovers in the fridge is not only a timesaver but great for when the kids get up and want to eat before school.  I've played every expansion so far, and I have to say I like this one best.  Pets was ok, I didn't get much out of Nightlife or OFB, and I liked University a bit, but this really adds alot of reality.  There's also several things to make life easier, like the leftover thing, bonuses to relationships and skilling in the different seasons, and a few great new career rewards. Enjoy! :dancer:

have to agree with you caribou_caro the seasons expansion is far by the best of all the expansions.

as for celebrations
http://thesims2.ea.com/about/sp4_index.php
the link shows you more about it basically its just some add on for weddings and birthdays so its not really that interesting at least not to me LOL cos weddings and birthdays dont happen that often, basically they are just recolours of existing stuff that you can get really from any decent sims 2 fansite.

I got TS2 Pets for Christmas ^^;
However, I lost the CD for it <.<

I've made some very interesting families, an discovered some equally interesting things!
I had a kitty be taken away because she got in her litter box and there was no way for her to leave [she got stuck, the game soon-after crashed]
I had an adult chat online with an infant [not toddler, infant]

I still haven't had a family have twins; that's my goal :D

I think the seasons is the best, but I wouldnt like the sims 2 very much if it didnt have the pets. So I would say the seasons and pets are the best expansions. I dont really like the University as much but it's ok.
