I have heard of this game here, but I see no thread! So here you go: a thread for spore, quite simply! If you have not the slightest clue about what this game is, then watchthis 35 minuet vid here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8372603330420559198 (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8372603330420559198)
The game is planned to be relewased in april-may '07, and has acheived E3's top hame list...Two years running while still in development...
-
Ive heard of it and it looks so cool, the creature editor looks really flexable you can make anything from giant woodlice to care bears. (Look round the web there is a pic of it)
-
I can not wait until that game comes out. It's totally awesome.
-
lamna: The care-bear is shown in the video, but just the editorial part...
Stitch: Only...One...more...YEAR!!! AHHH!!! THE ANTICIPATION!!!
-
It looks really good! I think all get it, but its definatly going to take the next year to make up my mind before it comes out.
-
Yeah, I have to say I'm really excited for this game as well! I can't wait to see/hear more about it!
-
as soon as i heard about this game i wanted it so badly and did anyone see the hands on time with spore during E3 on G4?:IloveZA:
-
Stupid computer! it automaticly loged of when it had loaded 27 out of 35 minutes! now i got to do it again!! But the bits ive seen look good.
-
Did you see the one with Robin Williams using the creature editor?
-
what the heck is it about?
-
Watch the vid...IT IS SOOO COOL!!!
-
I am suddenly oddly atracted to it. It sounds and looks cool.
-
I want it very badly I`ll be gone for months if I get it
-
LOL, true here too!
-
it is so awesome but why is it called spore?
-
well uh because a spore is like a cell thing and your create your creatures starting out from cells so uh thats my guess and any way I`ll be spending hours creating new creatures!
-
I think he mentioned why in one of the many demos for E3...Look fo it in the other movies via the link provided in the intro...
-
This game looks so awesome, and its from the same guy who made Sim City, so yeah. I'm gonna make all of my animals from my books in this game!
-
First thing I'd like to do myself is make a completely reasonable and viable race...The go crazy and try to make a dragon or something!!!
-
Ive already planned out some of my critters!!! Like the Beraque, which looks like a mixture of elephant, rhino, and giraffe! And what ever you make is transfered to the website where other players can download the animal/objext. And Will Wright said that it wont be only but a bew kilobytes, (err what ever the small one is) to upload and download yours and others creations!:woot: :woot:
-
Yeah, he said that the biggest thing in the game, the creatures, can compress into like three KB!!! And with the downloading, I hape they have something to integrate the AI with live play when buddies are online!!! WHEEE!!!!!!!!!!! :w00t
-
I like the music in the trailer
-
There isn't true multiplayer. It is a strict singleplayer game, that automatically downloads creatures created by other players. YOu don't actually play with anyone, at least that has been revealed.
-
I know, tiss mean, but it will make the game a whole lot better...Plus you don't have some advanced player going around and blowing up planets for the joy of it!
-
the video is so awsome I have watched every video I could find
http://www.spore.com/ the spore website
the movie has made me go crazy I NEED SPORE!!!
-
I will spend hours hours and hours creating creatures in fact I`ll be up all night making creatures when I get it
-
It will take hours and hours and hours and hours and hours to get to the UFO stage if I remember correctly...I just care about making a succesful planetary zoo!!! And Will said that far into the game you could access all the editors in-game...
-
I just pray my compy can handle the graphics...
I hope they release a demo that would let you play with the editors a bit... Specifically the creature editor...
-
I hope the plantery stage is advanced. I want to have energy beam defence satalites!!
And bses on moon and stuff. Mabye a death star, but only if there is a really thret.
-
I remember he said that in essence we would eventualy form into a 'God' of sorts...YAY!!!
-
Who agrees about the demo?
-
I hope the demo has a bit of everything and not just the cell stage.
-
Yeah, but not the FULL version of everything, just like, one or two potions for each kind of part to add to in the editor...
-
Mabey a partial cell editor and a wee bit of the creature editor...Enough to get peepz to want it, but not so much that they have basicly played the whole game!
-
I was informed about this game a few days ago by my cousin i was told that you can make a underwater empire or a land empire.: :) :
-
I assume that you can make anything known to man and then some! I'm thinking a space colony...
-
*nods* I hope we get a small demo witth just a teeny bit of the cell editor. That would really rock.
This game is perfect. I love animals, fantasy, construction and strategy. This combines all four!
-
I don't know what I like...But this sums it up for me!!!
-
I just want that creature editor. It looks amazing
:IloveZA:
-
As soon as it comes out i'm buying it!
-
As soon as it comes out i'm buying it!
me too
:IloveZA:
-
Hopefully, the demo will have the full creature editor and the full cell editor, at the least.
-
Then we would have basicly played the game, and would not need to buy it.
-
No, because the animal and cell editors aren't all that the game is about. There's still tribal up to the space level, which is most of the game. There'd be plenty of reason to buy it.
This looks like the coolest game ever! I'm gonna buy it the day it comes out!
-
Well, sporewiki says it will come out some time in early 2007, around April or may. Unfortunately, that's pretty much a whole year... and I cant even imagine what it must cost... or how much memory it will take up... :whistling
Edit: Game stop says it will come out on June 1st, and will cost about 50$... But hey, I'm willing to pay that!
Anyway, I wish you could create one sentient specie to inhabit your planet, and then make other non-sentient ones to inhabit it also, instead of having to use other peoples creatures. I mean, think about it: You've built this really cool looking dragon/dinosaur hybrid thing, and then an eight-legged, ten-ton, five-mouthed bug thing walks up, easily chases you down, and kills you! Don't you think you should be able to build it so creatures on your planet comply to the way you built your creature, and how you want them to look? : :) : (Or maybe you can, but I was under the impression that you couldn't:happy: )
-
I hope game stop's wright because i dont think i can wait much longer!
-
I. CAN. NOT. WAIT. FOR THIS GAME!!!!! *foams at the mouth*
I'm seriously so exited about this! I had a dream I got it last night and was going crazy with the creature editor. They better release a demo soon or I'll go NUTS! Or... more nuts.
-
I hope they release it over the summer... I mean, it looks to me that they have already made the whole thing! Well, there are some glitches, but those probably wouldn't interfere with the demo, because you would probably only be able to use two of the editors, and not be able to play it much.
-
Here is a site to keep you wet on the palette: http://www.orionsarm.com (http://www.orionsarm.com), this is basicly the text version of Spore, minus the cell and creature editors...
-
((Wrong quote, please refer to gibberish's last post))
Most do not realize that, and others will buy it for just that, THEN discover the games limitless awsomeness.
-
I looked for a demo on the Internet (Or at least when there going to release one) But I didn't see anything...
And if/when they release the demo, I hope its not timed or anything... I just hope it has just enough creatures to help whet you hunger for the game. : :) :
I hate to complain once more (: :P :), but I also hope the DNA points arent things like money. I mean, if you wanted to build some far out creature, but didnt ahve enough mony to, that would stink. I hate it in games where the only limit to you imagination is how much money you've collected. I think that DNA points should only be used to make an egg, and not to limit on what you can put on your creature. Who else agrees with me? :original:
-
I agree! Does anyone know their email adress? I'd like to email them asking for a demo. :innocent:
-
*Agrees with AD*
-
Most of you have probobly seen this already but here's another interesting walk-through video http://media.pc.ign.com/media/735/735340/vid_1499040.html
I so can not wait for this game! I have dreams about it, that's how bad it is! 0_o There are so many possibilities in the creature editor! I took a good long look in the "feet" section and there were bird feet (webbed and perching), dino feet, camel-looking feet, hooves, split hooves, rhino feet, three-toed paws, four-toed paws, a bunch of completly alien-looking ones, and much more! GRAGGG I CAN'T WAIT! *explodes messily like the creatures in the video* See? I'm so obsessed about it I even DIE like them! *dies*
-
Twas a good peep...I think...Well, I've seen that, the one with Robert Williams is more in-depth if you ask me though.
-
Actually, I looked on Sporewiki (The wikipedia for spore:laughing: ) and DNA points are used to buy things... But i think that's only when your playing the actual sentient creature game, and not in the editor on the main screen.
-
Just to clarify , DNA points are used to buy parets for your creature. They are only used up when you atucally put the part on the creature. LAter in the game you use them to buy tools , buildings , vehicles , etc. Also , once you get to the pace stage you get free use to the creature editor (as in no DNA points needed).
This is to prevent you from having a super , gorilla-trex hybrid at the beginning of the game and actually making it natural.
-
I think I am in loooooove
-

wait wait wait... but what about the creature editor that they show on the main page? is that just for creating random, non-sentient creatures? Or is it the one you mentioned. (I'm confused because there are tow: The one where you edit your own creature in the game, and the one on the main screen where you make non-sentient creatures.)
-

I believe((I can fly))that the main screen editors are only for fun, who knows, mabey you can upload the stuff you make into the universe! And is this only for one galaxy, or the universe?
-
It is unknown currently whether there are two creature editors. But for the actual story mode you use DNA points for the parts you actually use on your creature. The main screen one may be a just-for-fun one but as of now it is unknown.
-
They could easily be an exlusive for the E3 demo...
-
I just hope the screen one makes it so you can make your own non-sentient creatures. (the ones that populate the world)
-
This game is awsome! I just saw that video from WolfXQeen it made my hunger grow for this game!:crying:
-
Again, for now you can go to http://www.orionsarm.com
-
But its just not the same.... Anyway, you should really go to sporewiki. It has tons of info.
-
I looked, all the info is the same as the movies from E3, or so I understand...I haven't had a chance to look, but I bookmarked it!
-
does anyone know the exact date for its release?
-
Well, no, but it is said to be in april '07, at the very least, calender '07...
-
Yeah. They said late quarter 2006 to first quarter 2007. If that's true, we will at least have MM2 to keep us entertained until it comes out.
-
Heck, I'm still waiting for ES and AA to arrive in the mail!
-
Well, than your all set. You'll be entertained until it comes out.
Anyway, I cant wait to make monsters like the ones in Godzilla
-
is there a limit to how tall you animal is?
-
Not that we know of.
-
I've heard that you can only have an creature as small as a hamster or as big as an African Elephant. I think that maybe it isn't true (I mean, its an Evolution-involved game for crying out loud! Shouldn't you be able to make at least a T-Rex Sized creature!?) I actually have four species I want to try to make when I get the game. A Velociraptor-ish creature that has three eyes, a creature that looks like a cross between a clam and an elephant, an aquatic giraffe (i.e. flippers instead of feet and legs) and a Twi'Lek like creature. They kind of encompass different types of animals, the raptor-ish one a carnivore, the clam/elephant as an herbivore, the aquatic giraffe a swimming creature, and the Twi'Lek-like a humanoid.
-
I've drawn up the specs on two, I hope to make one my base creature, the I'll eventuallybe able to acces the editors from there:)
-
I have made a stech of the frist animal I sill create but it has no name i`ll figer that out later this game is going to be so cool I am going crazy*bangs head on desk for 5 hours*thats better but still no Spore I just can`t wait!
-
One type of animals i want to make is that Beraques. I spun the name off of maquaqe (sp?). The Greater-One horned Beraque is a elephant like herbivore with a large horn atop its head, and a fairly long sized neck. The Lesser-Two horned Beraque looks more like a fat dog with thick legs and is the size of a small horse, it has two horns on its head, and is omnivorous. And the final one is the Red Beraque which is more cat like but the size of a black rhino, it has small knoby horns on its head, it is also omnivorous. Suprisingly the Greater-Oned Horned and the Lesser-Two Horned Beraques are the closet related. The Red Beraque evolved earlier and is a little more distantly related to its cousins.
-
Wow, this is turning into a real primodial soup! :D
-
Lol I feel like a EA rep here but here's the size deal : It has been confirmed that the animal can be between hamster and elephant size . Though , since the game probably isn't coming out until around April '07 this may change.
I really want to make a creature with the velociraptor feet ( w00t!) .
-
I hope so, because the size should be restricted only by the planet size and the reasourses upon it.
-
 This looks so COOL!!!!! I actually sent in this idea to a few game companies and the ideas were exactly like this except for the planetary stage. I can't wait for this to come out. I hope its soon. I am going to do a humanoid race that is going to look like the elves from the Lord of the Rings, if thats possible. I wonder if you can chnge the clothing a civlization wears? If you can my civilization will have the styles of the Roman Empire or of Ancient Greece. I'm going to make the cities in the style of Naboo too. I can't wait!!!!
-

There thinking about including clothing. But if they do, I hope its optional. I dont want my flying fish/insects wearing shirts and stuff like that. I got ideas for creatures for spore. Just go to Sporewiki, and check my name. It has three concept creatures I created.
-
Jeez, I only have two drawn up...
-

They seem cool!:specool:
Do you get to make your own plants in this game too?
-
Yeah, if you look at the main screen on any of the E3 demos, you'll see all the editors, it includes plant.
-
That's going to be cool!:specool:
-
this is going to be so great i wonder how much it costs, oo im so happy i wonder if this will blow zt2 off its rocker though
-
I watched the video and theres lots of blood in it. The creatures also mate in the game( which you can see happening). A little too weird for me now.:ermm:
-
Heh. I find it funny that this is an evolution-based game yet you create the animals to work with. ;P
-
Heh. I find it funny that this is an evolution-based game yet you create the animals to work with. ;P
I know. I was thinking the exact same thing.
-
My friends thought someone I knew was developing because I quickly got them to see the video when they walked in the class!
What is the Spore Wiki page?? Is it this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spore_%28video_game%29) or something else???
-
No, this is Sporewiki:happy:
http://www.sporewiki.com/Main_Page
-
Thanks.
Some of those creatures that people have made up are really good. When the game is out and someone makes a new creature, they should post it here so that we all know it. That would be fun!
-
I....I....I..... can't beleive it! : :) :  This is going to be the BEST GAME EVER (ZT2 is brill in it's own way, so I can't compare). Imagine sandbox mode....... *dies of suspense*
*comes back to life* The trailer is SO COOL! The music is some one of the best theme songs for a game I've ever heard. There are some new videos i found at IGN:
http://uk.media.pc.ign.com/media/735/735340/vids_1.html
-
IT looks awesome. I just don't like how the creatures actually mate in the game not like how they mate in ZT2. Just weird to me.
-
Its not grossly visual, its just a bit more movement than we're used to in ZT2!! It only lasts a few seconds anyway (from what I've seen so far).
-
Were did you get the information about them mating?:sign_ques
-
Go to round about four and a half minutes on this video (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-394434397798392775).
-
Its meant to be comedic. Not gross or adult.
-
I know that. I just thought it was a little strange:laughing:
-
I know.
-
I found a couple of videos on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L99YX7lNNCo&mode=related&search=
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtoraGP-pzg&mode=related&search= - This isn't really for SPORE but its related.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTaJASz2wzE&mode=related&search= - A must-see, shows the sounds, ambience, and a lot of blood.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdpbegPyGr8&mode=related&search= - another must - see
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UI_iS2MAEzs - The AWESOME trailer
-
I definitely haven't seen this video before >>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpM1CsO0S0I&search=spore (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpM1CsO0S0I&search=spore)

Nice find! I love it! : :) :
-
Those videos are awsome
-
I saw the G4 one the first day it was out (on TV).
-
Wow...Lots of vids...Too many to check right now...Brain rupturing(SC)...
-
I hope we can make non sentient lifeforms. If we can im re creating Naboo! (Though i might make the gugens less annoying:laughing: )
-
Heck, recreate the etire solar system! (I wanna make a Wookie! Oh! Wait! Ewoks!!!)
-
This is :specool: I SO WANT THIS GAME!!!
-
I love hearing that ^_^
-
You know, I just thought of something. With DD2 comming out soon, then MM2, we'll have enough things to keep us entertained until spore comes out!
-
But you cant create an animal!:crying:
-
Wait..... that gave me an idea.....
What if we could convert SPORE creatures into Zoo Tycoon 2! : :) :
-
ooooooo...........Genious(SC)............Or the other way around, and then modify the animals into bizzare creations of the mind and body............
-
That would be cool, but I think its impossible. And while we may still be begging for spore, we'll be able to play MM2 and DD@ to help pass the time until it comes out!
-
I will try and make the most inteligent spesice on the planet. Mice!! ha ha
-
Like in Hithhikers Guide to the Galaxy' mice? Cool...
-
What platform is Spore going to be for?
-
Compy.
-
Actually, its going to be on all platforms, along with on the computer, like X-box360, PLaystation3, and maybe nintendo wii.
-
if its on wii i'll get it that level in the video looks like it would be fun with the censory controler
-
I hope we can desinge our ships, i dont want to be stuck with the toy like one in the video, i want to build, Wraith darts (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wraith_dart), N1 starfighers (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/N-1_starfighter), Puddlejumpers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puddle_jumper_%28Stargate%29) mabey even a TARDIS (http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/TARDIS). (Though i dont think that if could disapper or travel through time.) I really hope the ship editor is flexible. If the game has a online feature we could have a Zoo admin fedration.
-
Looks cool I like the 1 tailed aliagtor looking guy
-
Oh, I just thought of an idea: Planet Zoo!!! Y'know, a depository planet or two for non-sentinent(SC) species found around the galexy...
-
Thats on of the ideas they had, making a planetary zoo out of all of the creatures you find.
-
Actually, its going to be on all platforms, along with on the computer, like X-box360, PLaystation3, and maybe nintendo wii.
No. They are focusing on PC. The creater said the design of the game was based on PC technology, but that, in the late future, they might try it on Next-gen consoles.
-
*Rakes brain for sighns of life*
It dosen't make sence to put it on anything else for a mass multiplayer offline game...
-
Theres no true multiplayer. You don't verse or work with other players. Its called a "Mass Multiplayer offline game", because during gameplay, if the game detects a gap in a specific niche on the current planet you on, the game will automatically download specific creatures that other players created.
Thats one of the reason it wouldn't work on the Xbox 360 or the PS3. Because of how Xbox Live and the PS3's online device work, you'd have to manually download all creatures made by other players, instead of it happening automatically. This would slow down and hamper the gameplay.
-
No. They are focusing on PC. The creater said the design of the game was based on PC technology, but that, in the late future, they might try it on Next-gen consoles.
Thats what I was kinda refering to. Anyway, it also uses other players planets to poulate the galaxy, but you cant influence someone elses planet (you can still do stuff to it, but nothing will happen to the person playing on that planet), like megaraptor said.
-
an add-on to the zoo Idea- put one species on each of the many planets so that none are killed by other species, or put up unpassable ridges if you can.
-
This may sound stupid or may have already been coverd, but is there a sertane extent to what your animal can look like?
-
The only limit to your creature is the DNA points (they act like money) you have collected, and its intelligence (the more intelligent your creature is, the more items you have to place on it)
-
this game sounds awsome im deffinatly gonna get it
-
I just think some game developer had to much time on there hands and it resluted in Spore (nothing against the game thought)
-

Thanks for the info!
-

Will Wright has been working on this for x* number of years!
*I forgot how many, please fill in...
-
I'm guessing that if you want a super battle creature, you either have to kill alot of things to rise up your DNA points, or cheat! The first one would be more fun, but it would take longer... hmmm...
I wonder if your creature was an omnivore it would be easier to gain DNA points. You could eat both animals and plants, which should get you double the DNA points.
-
I almost forgot, CHEATS!!! I would use them on any other game, but I don't think I would discrace this one.
-
How did you find out about these DNA Points?
-
I learned about them through the E3 vids, I posted a link on the first page...
-
For the DNA points i expect plants are easyer to catch, but dont have that many points, and meat has lots of points but is hard to catch.
-
I agree
-
I am about to explode I am so excited about Spore! I wonder why they began to tell us about it so early. I mean I have to wait about a year for it. I hope they just keep showing us some more little tidbits about it till it's out. The more I hear about it the more I go crazy! So x10000 excited. :)
-
Well, I assume they want the suspense to build...Or they just wanted to get into E3...
-

when is it supposed to come out:huh:
-
Quarter 4 of 2006
-
REALLY? I thought it was schelduled to June of 07!
-
It could have changed since i last checked, so don't hold me to it.
-
Quarter 4 of 2006
Of '07, remember? Calender '07, the possibility of september '07, ect.
I've seen all the demo movies:happy:
-

Good for you. It was a honest mistake to think it was 06.
-
I hear Q1 of '07.
-
I doubt it will be that early, I mean they have only recently gotten beyond the random skin generator...
-
I saw June....
-
That would be perfect! My B-Day is on June 20th!!
-
There was an article about Spore in the Discoverer magazine. It was an interview with Will Wright, he said that at one point they tried to make it so you could play and evolve on Gas Giants but it was to hard to program.
-
I thought it was Q4 06 - Q1/2 07.
-

That would be tough, because the storms are so mutch larger, there is almost no plausable way to do so. Mabey one of the planned subterranien sentinent creatures...
-
I am really looking forward to this game. It has everything you could possibly want. It is by far one of the most original games I have ever seen.
Will Wright said in an interview with Gamespy.com (http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/spore/707976p1.html) that Spore will be realeased in Q2 2007
GameSpy: So it will come out in the first quarter of 2007?
WW: Probably just after that, though we are not being precise. What we are saying is just outside the fiscal year, which is March.
GameSpy: So April or early May?
WW: Yeah. Right.
-
Can you make a creature evolve from a monkey to a human?
-
Definately. But it'd look a little cartoony.
-
$600?!
Is anyone willing to split the cost?
-
What 600 dollars.
-
$600?!
Is anyone willing to split the cost?
What?

I think they're talking about this:
GameSpy: I've got to ask, how do you think Sony will do with that $600 price point?
WW: Six hundred bucks; that is a lot of money. I'm rooting for Nintendo. What I don't like is that the way the Wii controller works depends a lot on how close you are to your TV. If you are five feet away it feels one way. If you are 10 feet away, it feels completely different.
I don't get what they're saying at this point of the interview though. Someone please explain.
-
I believe that $600 is the price of the PS3.
-
How in the macaroni-covered gorillas (I love saying that) did Spore suddenly change to the cost of a PS3 ? Anyways , I've started drawing pics of what I hope to make. I want the planet to have 2 continents with 2 more minicontinents. One continent will be a long , narrow land-bridge extending to the poles on either side. and another large continent beside the one side. The two polar sides of the bridges and the continent will be covered in six foot high grass , while the middle of the bridges and an off shoot of the second continent will be covered in rainforest.
My creatures are :
Galiron - a three foot tall biped with stalk eyes extending seven feet into the air to see over the tall grass. It also has long stripes to camoflauge itself with the grass. To aid in its search for food it has two sets of nostrils , each with different sensors.
Torangun - A small primate with extremely long , triple-jointed arms. It also has very short legs with no joints tipped with long , sharp claws.
I might put some pics up later. Anyone else want to join in the showing off of soon-to-be spore creations ?
-
Spore I've heard is supposed to be around $60
-
That doesn't mean the game is 600 bucks. that would be to high for one game. also it wouldn't be bought that much, only by rich people, which would be to small of income for the company. For it to be mass produced the highest price would be $50.
-
No one ever said the game would be $600 ... As for your $50 theory a huge game like Spore I believe the selling price for the first month or so would be around $60-$70 . It wouldn't cause anything bad for sales , it already has a large fan following and when Halo 2 was released it sold for ( I think) $70 and it still sold thousands of copies in the opening week. $50 would be an amazing price for it.
To be honest , I believe it will be the largest game ever. Think about it , your planet alone is populated by hundreds of creatures itself , then there are usually (I think it was in an interview somewhere) 2 habitable planets in your starting system of about 5 , of which you can make almsot any planet habitable using the genesis device. Add to that thousands of systems in an ever-growing galaxy populated by creatures made by other players. Plus , it is almost every genre in one : Arcade for the microbe stage , sim/RPG for the creature stage , Sim for the tribal stage , strategy for the city stage , and finally all of the above for space stage. Don't even get me started on the vehicles , buildings and foliage.
I want it so badly :crying: ...
-
Halo 2 sold for 50 dollars. The selling price for all Xbox new releases. The game will not cost 600 dollars. Whoever thought that is dead wrong. People are upset about the PS3 costing $600 dollars, and i can't quite understand how you guys are coming up with prices this early in development. Game Designers wouldn't confirm a release date this early, let alone a price.
If you think its more than 60 dollars (common price of a next gen game) then give us proof and i don't mean what proof of why you think that. I want something like a press release, or an interview, in which the price is stated.
-
The price hasn't been stated, Megaraptor. Someone checked the link I saw and got it confused with the asking price of the PS3. $600 is a ridiculous price for a gaming system, let alone one game unit.
-
http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=646589 (http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=646589) A Computer Game Cannot Go Over $70, But Most Are $40 Unless its an Architect design game.

I know its hasn't been released. Thats what i was talking about. I even said they confused it with the PS3.

Thanks for the link bulldog! I'm half tempted to pre-order! lol.

All of that is subject to change. And it probably will. Games are allways pushed back, and the prices have changed at times too. So, don't think of that as concrete.
-
Well, usually, if you preorder something, you pay for it beforehand, and then they ship it when the game comes out. So while the release date may change, I'm going to doubt that the price will.
-
Well, at least it wasen't WoW price ($60.00)...I'll be able to afford it!!! w00t!
I highly doubt the release date will remain June first...But that would rock, because my B-Day is on June 20th, and it could be here in WA by then!... w00t!!!

Yeah, plus the whole 15 dollars a month to play WoW...man, I wish I were rich.
I doubt that the release date will stay that too, but who knows?
-
I think that gamestop put that date as and estimate. I have a fealing that it will be sonner then that. The first news we got was quarter 1 of '07. And in my experiences gamestop did not get AA for a while because they said it wasnt shipped yet. But thats what they said....
-
Will himself said that it would be released April- early May . I can't wait for flying creatures! Also , I recently heard that there will be a feature to buy a figure of your creature from EA. They already are making some of their critters using the all powerful 3D printer . But what I really want is to make underwater civs . They'll either be eel/worm creatures or manatee-looking things Can't...wait...lungs...stopped...call... ambulance ...

I've heard of that printer, and I would LOVE to have something like that as a non-contest gig! Mabey like, 20 bucks depending on the creature...
-
I made a thread about this a year ago.
-
On this site?
-
I made a thread about this a year ago.
Firstly , about what. Secondly , whats your point. Not to sound rude or anything , but what use does that post serve? Anyways , if the creature figurines are five bucks or udner I'm going to get one of all my (good) creatures.
-
Ooh! No way! Were did you see this???
-
Where Can I Find This?
-
Yeh?!?

The underwater civs will be in a big bubble. I still want to make them though. Also if you colinise a uninhabitable planet the civ will be in a bubble. One thing i REALLY cant wait for is the editor for the plants and buildings and stuff.: :) :
-
Umm underwater civs will only be in a bubble if they're on land or on an uninhabitable planet... I never said that the figures would definately be under $5 , I jsut said that they might have the service ,for those that were confused. I'm going to have alot of fun with underwater stuff. But , I hope udnerwater will be in three dimensions instead of two.

Hey, I'm a co-admin of sporewiki and I was doing a random google search for the site and saw it mentioned here. If anyone of you are really interested in spore and haven't seen sporewiki I suggest you give it a look (http://www.sporewiki.com/Main_Page) and more importantly make an account and add some stuff that we've forgotten. If you haven't used a wiki before or have any questions about the site, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page there (http://www.sporewiki.com/User_talk:Mason11987) and I'll be sure to help you out.
We plan to host spore content when the game is released so you'll be able to use sporewiki to find some cool stuff that you haven't encountered in-game (because well, you won't find everything in-game) and download it for your game, for now our creature database (http://www.sporewiki.com/Creature_Database) is all just concept creatures with a few in-game creature pages (http://www.sporewiki.com/Category:Creatures) thrown in. Hope to see some people around and I can't wait for spore myself! :-D
-
If you are already bi an a wiki for a game that will be out in around a year, you might just want the game...
Cool, I am a member, and I have tw creatures I haven't had time to add...
-
I'm a member too. (I'm still AD) I have a few concept non-sentient creatures of my own. I'll have to get around to adding more... anyway, I plant to make my first city out of huge crystiline structures (like the arctic caves in superman returns). I havent decided what to make my sentient beings look like though...
@dinwrest: I believe the underwater phase will be 3D, unlike the ameoba stage.
-
It will, I think, be 3D, allowing you to move about as sutch...
-
I'm a member too! I'm Tripod on the site. I've heard that each creature will only take up a few kilobytes of memory, if this is true your world could be home to hundreds of different creatures.
-
Hehehe... you guys can look forward tobeing terrorized by the tenta monster!:badgnome:
Anyway, I wish they would release a creature editor demo. It would have all the features, just you wouldnt be able to play as them.
-
Did they (the developers) say that they were releasing a creature editor as a demo or is this just wishful thinking by us fans?
-
I think its just wishfull thinking. I hope they release one before summer's end. Also, I hope that baby animals (which you can design also) gradualy gro into adults, instead of just poping into adults like ZT2.
-
Wishful thinking thus far :(
-
I mean, they could release a demo. It looks like there almost completely done with the creature editor. The only reason their not releasing the whole game is probably because they just have to work out the kinks in the system that automatically transfer creatures and planets to other peoples games, and problems with various graphics problems. (i dont know this, I was just guessing)
-
this doesn't get released til next year right?
-
2Q next year
-
actually, I think its 1Q.
Edit: If you want the creature editor demo to be released, you should sign this petition I found a few days back: http://www.petitiononline.com/SPORECEB/petition.html (http://www.petitiononline.com/SPORECEB/petition.html)
-
Yay! What is the goal number?
-
I dont really know. But signing it could only bring us closer to the number. : :) :
Anyway, I hope that things like the vehicle editor and building editor dont use DNA points, seeing as I dont know how you would get them at the civilization phase.
-
I'm sure they do, everything runs through the base currency of DNA points... But I'm wondering if you can make something and then put it into a full game...
-
Yeah, I just found that out. I read about it on Sporewiki. And I think you can make things and insert them into the game, like if you make a tree in the foliage editor, you should be able to drop it down on the world.
I also wonder how powerful the vehicle editor is. I mean, in order to make my chryidian battle tank, I would need the vehicle editor to be able to accommodate HUGE vehicles, and have multiple designable weapons to install.
One more thing- It would be interesting if they released two of the editors on a demo- One would obviously be the creature editor, and another could be the plant editor, because both of them would help populate the game when it is released. They could also release a combination of the creature editor and the vehicle editor, though the vehicle editor would be for pure fun, seeing as all the vehicles the computer uses are procedurally generated.
Wait, I'm not done- It would be cool if you pre-ordered it from EB games for 50 bucks, then the price escalated to 60, but you got to keep the ten dollars. Probably wouldn't happen though. They'd most likely make you fork over the extra ten bucks. : :) :
-
I don't think that they can make you pay twice on a game you've preordered. Generally, a game that is up for preorder will not change prices, and if they do, I'm almost certain that they won't call you up and say "By the way, we can't ship this to you yet. You owe us another $9.99"
-
Well, as for the editors, I'd assume that along with the Creatur editor, they would hand out a version of the UFO editor, seeing as that is a huge chunk of the game...
And I'm always out to save a buck or two!
EDIT:mikaboshi is right, it is unlikely to change price wise...
One thing I'm wondering; Do you know if you can change your UFO later in the game...
I have not seen any writing on this myself...
-
Yes, I believe you can make yourown UFO. He (Will) said that he just bought a stock UFO in the demonsration.
-
I know, I mean can you change it mid-game...
-
Yeah, I'm pretty sure you can add stuff to it afterwards.
I want the creature demo released so badly! I hope once the petition gets enough signatures, the guy who made it will email it to Maxis.
I've already got so many creatures playing through my mind, I'm gonna go CRAZY!
-

Oh yeah me too! ive got whole sories in my head. predators, prey, environments! i CANT WAIT!
-
My favorite creatures created are the willosaur and the battle fish. The garoupa and dilema are pretty cool also. :specool:
-
'm keeping sane, unlike yall,by thinking of Spo-- Charis! And I also think about Sp--Bunnies! And, my fav thought SPOR--ZT2!!!
-
The first thing I'm gonna buy for the UFO is the genetic editor, so i can freely make whatever animal I want!!
Anyway, I have some cool creatures:
lycaenosaurs (Wolf lizard): A wolf like reptile with tusks like a warthog.
Reptavian: A parrot/peacock/hoatzin.
Aroid eagle: An 8 ft tall vicious eagle.
Leapordiz: a 4ft tall quadrupedal carnivorous reptile. 2 of those feet are made up of the paired spikes that run down its back.
tenta monster: A fly-eyed eight ft tall creature with 4 tentacles for arms. Can basically be described as a nightmare
unguapa: a four eyed 6 ft long salamander like amphibian with a 3 ft high sail running down its back.
And I have many, many, more
-
i'm sorry if this has been asked and answered before, but 22 pages to read is alot. In spore do you think we will be able to make flying creatures and amphibious creatures?
-

There is some confirmation that we will. but nothing is FOR SURE yet. but i think/hope we can.
-
It has been confirmed that there will be flying creatures, but no evidence has been scene to support it. i.e, no screenshots of flying creatures, no wings, etc...
It is also unknown if amphibious creatures can be made, I don't see why not. I guess you could just give a land creature webbed feet, and it would be able to swim.
-

Actually , if you look closely in the GDC '05 video (the one with the willosaur) when it comes out of the water you can see a creature fly overhead.
I really want to make something completely black and nocturnal . It'll have tons of tentacles but also four regular legs. I shall call it the knightmaer (it is supposed to be spelt that way).
-
I think this is some new infohttp://www.comcast.net/games/invasion/index.jsp?fn=/2006/08/09/724577.html&cvqh=gamesEXTREME_spore (http://www.comcast.net/games/invasion/index.jsp?fn=/2006/08/09/724577.html&cvqh=gamesEXTREME_spore)
-
Yeah, I'd never seen that before.
But I agree with will when he says that "as the deadline draws near, you have to start cutting stuff out" I know he was talking about the game developers ideas, but it also works for users. There are some creatures you wont be able to make.
-
I'm glad they are keeping swimming creatures. I want to make a creature that looks like a squid.
-
I wonder if they'll have jet propulsion for animals, like a squid.
I hope they have lots of wings to pick from, and not just dragon and bird ones.
-
Well I did hear Will say "jet propulsion" in the '05 demonstration.
-
really? That would be cool... I hope this game will have lots of expansions with extra parts to go with them... But I wonder how that would go into other games... Say, person A gets an XP, and builds a creature that goes along with the new parts. But then, person B, who hasn't gotten the XP, visits person A's planet, and sees the new creature. What would happen then?
-
He would probably think, "wow, that is cool! howcome I can't get that!" LOL
-
No, I mean, what would the computer do? Person B's computer doesnt have thos new parts on it, so it may not recognize the creature as being there. Maybe they have it so it downloads new XPs into the game automatically... that would be cool...
-
Probably those with the expansion cannot see the person's planet.
-
Like som, ebody said bfore, 20 odd pages is a lot to read so I've skipped most of this disscusion. Tjis game is my dream! I have always wanted a game that did just this. Can't wait for a demo (hopefully).
-
Yeah, a demo would be good - they could have one of just the creature editor, as it would keep the download size down and that seems to be one of the most anticipated features of the game
-
And if it was connected to the Internet, it could help disperse creatures when the game comes out.
-
Ah, SPORE! This game sounded wonderful since I first heard about it a year ago.
-
I completely forgot about SPORE untl a few minutes ago when I saw this topic on favourites! I searched YouTube a few weeks ago and saw THE WHOLE E3 video - in parts of course. AMAZING!
Woah, it's the Ford Explorer! :lolol: :sign_lol:
-
I'm one of those rabidly waiting for Spore. I had a few planet ideas that are below.
Inscetia
A planet where the "higher" life forms never developed and invertebrates rule the primordial swamps.
Aquanos
A completely oceanic planet ruled by a species of sentient barracuda-like creatures.
Frostimun
A planet locked in a perpetual ice age that has turned every facet of the world into an snowball.
Dustrillia
A desert world covered in creeping dunes, salt flats, and petrified forests that all point to former greenery.
-
I cant believe that its still such a long time until spore comes out! :pinch:
I have so many Ideas! For planets, heres one:
Nitaria: Home to the bipedal snake like creatures the chryidians, Nitaria is a beautiful world, covered mainly in a single giant pangea. To the south ( just a little below the equator) is a Large Boreal forest, stretching northwards until it gradually changes into the hostile (but lush) Altarian rainforest, which covers most of the middle part of the planet. It is covered in the ruins of an ancient civilization (think skull island,) and is permeated by a large winding river, surrounded by swamps and marshes. The rainforest is populated with the incredible Omnisaurs: Reptiles that fill almost every niche in the rainforest, from hostile predatory Horridusops, the peaceful yet strong Ageliosaurus. To the south east of the jungle is an expansive plain, housing mainly mammal like reptiles, such as the pack hunting leapordiz, and the scissor jawed racator. To the north of the Jungle and savanna is a huge mountain range, rivaling the height of the Himalayas. Few creatures live here, besides the piragars, fierce aroid eagles, and vicious snow tigers. Slightly to the west of the mountains is a desert-like valley, the only place where mammals have carved out a large niche. Residents here include rock apes, ezim weasels, coyote like Corams, and predatory Rosna. But even in this mammal haven, Reptiles still rule. The dangerous yet bizarre Tenta monsters stalk the rocky slopes, using their four tentacles to grab prey. Monstrous blind crag snakes sleep in huge caves, waiting to seize and prey to blunder by. Caves in the sides of the cliffs give way to massive submerged passage ways, filled with bio luminescent bacteria, giving the water illumination. Even here, life continues on, filled with horrifying predatory segmented worms, and predatory fish that rival the fright given off by the Deep sea creatures of earth. To the north of the mountains is an expansive sandy desert, dotted with strange rock formations here and there. This place is hardly inhabitable, save for a few durable creatures, such as the mighty Krall, the even mightier Crypton, the migratory Elemimus, and the 50 ft giant Burrowing snake. All in all, Nitaria is an interesting, yet sometimes dangerous, place.
And that was just ONE planet in my solar system!
P.S: I'm very deeply sorry if this was to long. I just had a lot of ideas... :blushing:
-
Well, If we've waited this long, we can wait a bit longer. :original: Well.. (2 seconds later) AAAAAGGGHHH I NEED SPORE!!! :loony:
-
Same here - I REALLY want this game, particularly after reading some of these ideas!
-
When I first saw the video of this game, I was like "35 minutes!!?!?!?!?!!!!!!111!!!11!1oneone!" But I started to watch it and I could'nt stop.... This is the coolest game ever... I CANT WAIT!!!!!
-
Is it on computer?
-
Yeah, its a PC game
-
I heard that you can block all other peoples animals but your friends and play with their creatures... Anyone know if this is true?
-
One of the animals in the editor looks like sid the sloth
-
I heard that you can block all other peoples animals but your friends and play with their creatures... Anyone know if this is true?
Yes, you can block other players content from being uploaded directly to your computer. If some creatures are inappropriate or, say, you dont want a giant care bear walking around your planet, you can block them.
But dont worry. All my creatures will be fierce yet realistic.
-
, you dont want a giant care bear walking around your planet, you can block them.
That video is absolutely classic. OH SNAPS RUN FOR THE HILLS!! IT'S A CARE BEAR!!
*godzilla roar*
-
I really wonder how the editor will work. It's releasing in October, right?
-
Hey AD I saw one of your plant ideas in SporeWiki
BTW whoever doesn't know, there is gonna be spore on the DS and the PSP
-
i heard its also gonna be on wii! that would be awsome!
-
Yeh Will said he's exploring the possibilities there and he might put it on the Wii. If he does, im gonna buy spore for my Wii straight away, and if he doesn't, i'll buy it for y pc straight away
-
woot!!! this game sounds very fun!!!!
i want to create an wolf/dragon/raptor beastie woot!!!!
-
Im going to make some ordinary animals, chimpanzees will be the main ones, terraform a new planet, make greys ( The small grey aliens with the big heads) and abduct things from earth! Hahahahahahahahahahahah!!!!!! (Ignore me)
-
Man, your chimpanzees are going to be slaughtered by my super spiders armed with sixteen knives per FOOT!
I mean. Good luck with your critter making.: :P :
-
Fine then i'll justs start to abduct your guys with a flying saucer and put them on uninhabitable planets so they explode :original:
-
Chryidian battle tanks destroy all! :badgnome:
I wonder how you would seperate animals in a planetary zoo... would you be able to build fences?
-
Battle tanks? OMG H4XS!!!!1!
You don't make a planetary zoo. You make interplanetary zoo.
-
Yes, but Chryidian battle tanks aren't our average everyday tanks. *ahem 200 ft long, ahem 150 feet tall ahem* And if that doesn't stop you, my army of Space fairing SUPERNOVAS will. :badgnome:
I guess you could build fences for th zoo. Just use the walls from you city...
-
Or maybe really steep mountains between each species would keep them in.
-
Hmmmm.... I'll make an extremely intelligent race the size of a hamster, and make a Elephant sized warrior race to protect them! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
-
I'm gonna make Parasaurolophus - my favourite dinosaur.
-
NONE SHALL STAND IN THE WAY OFF THE GLUGTHAG BLICKTHOR!!!!
Sorry...I'm one of my "take control of the universe" moods. Knowing Will he'll probably slip earth in as an easter egg and something to do with llamas. Perhaps Earth willl be RULED by llamas!!! That'd be so cool... Anyways , I really want to make a huge kill cube of DOOM. Not like a borg cube , though , it'll be a land vehicle. Oh and has anyone heard? They're taking out water civilizations (not sure about the water stage though).
-
wait, you make your own animals?! wow! thats awesome! do you get to choose color and shape and stuff?
-
Yes you do. It's been said lots of times
Im gonna make a sphere animal covered in mouths with a single giant eye in the center.
-
:woot: ha ha ha. i just saw the video on YouTube. thats awesome!
-
For fences: when Will was demonstrating it, and he was chasing one of those spider things with the UFO, it went all the way over a mountain... (though it was kinda small)
Plus, my BLACK HOLE ships will simply use their tractor beams to implant ballistic outer space objects into your planets surface. Then they willl use their tractor beams to rip your ships apart. Absolutly no barriers can stop them.
-
That's why I'll have a deathstar, with Tie fighters to protect them. Maybe some capital ships as well. Wait... wrong game.
My flying saucers will play Wierd Al on their stereo systems. It will be like the Sirens of Greek Mythology, but with laughter!
-
Your guys wont be laughing so hard when a meteor plows them through!
Seriously, I cant wait for this to come out.
-
wait, so its not out yet?! aaaaaw man! i was getting all excited.:pout:
-
July or so is when it'll be out.
-
It won't be possible to destroy people's planets, only identical copies of them  Anyway. AD, i'll come to your planet and display fireworks so we can be friendly planets : :P :
-
wait, so its not out yet?! aaaaaw man! i was getting all excited.:pout:
You really need to read the wikipedia page.: :P :
And AD, we will laugh so hard when your planet gets a meteor blasting through its core.
-
Lets see your space ship take out my planetary defense system! Land-to-space missiles, OPDMS (80 times stronger than an atom bomb at minimum setting) and a planetary shield. Your meteors (and ships) would vaporize on contact with it! MUAHAHAHAHA... Ahem... Sorry...
That sounds like a good idea, Bep-Boi. We can go on a parade of destruction together! :badgnome: Or explore the galaxy. :prof: Or both! : :P :
-
I really want to mess around with my creatures! It comes out April time. I think. Or was it August?
-
Good idea AD! Let's do both! The Universal Destruction Tour! Lol! Let's choose planets to destroy and then we both destroy the identical copies of them! Muahahahahahahahaha!
-
Or, instead of destruction, conquering! Add the planets to our vast empire! The alliance between the chryidians and... whatever your going to make.... cannot be stopped!
I wish Will would give us a straight release date. Not "within fiscal year" that, or "a couple of months" this... :pinch:
-
I am very looking forward to Spore. I've been obsessed ever since I saw the video. :)
-
AD, you and my hamster people or canary people will be the rulers of the universe!
-
Most Intresting Topic Ever
-
hmmmm.... i will create my solar system as a planetary zoo system....
once the creatures get senient they will worship.......ME!!!muhuhaha!!!
and then i will crosbreed the species (how do you do that anyways??) crating newer uber species!!!!
my creatures will look like a cross beetween a canine and a raptor with its tail like a grasper shown on one of those vidioes lol just picture it people.....lol: :P :
-
Why is everybody talking about enstei... hybrids? : :P :
-
WW has said that eventually once you reachthe UFO stage you can croswsbreed species you have found with your own or others. I doubt this will work out to be in the final version, though. Hardly anything has been metnioned about in the last 6 months.
-
its probobly been posted but how high do the graphics on your computer need to be?
-
I am so excited about this game!!!!! :woot: :woot: :woot: I can't wait for it to come out! I plan on making somthing like a Velociraptor (The Jurrasic Park kind) with a scorpion's tail. :)

I really have loved the concept of Spore. Right from when I first heard it. Like many, the scope of spore was stunning. I'm still excited... but I'm now hesistant to hype myself about it too much. I need a release date, and even then, I fear delays. Spore is an epic game, and like all epic games, you have to fear delays. Spore has been a game in production for a time now, and the release date is still "Q2 2007." But alot of games say Q2 and get pushed back a few months. And then the company says, lets time it with the holidays. Still, I do think we will see it this year, and I can't wait to see how it plays.
-
: :( : I really really want this game :crying: But man, is my computer going to need a massive update... you can just tell... Spore just looks amazing, and it's pretty certain that my PC won't be able to handle it :throw: but I still can't wait
-
Or it could be worse! our computers could reject the game! witch means that the main program ( ex: windows, mac, etc.) cant keep up with certain parts of the game such as AI or animations so it utterly destroys its memory and other things just like a homemade virus (my poor computer).:crying:
-
Heads up, everybody!
Will Wright announced two new stages for Spore! Check it out: http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/spore/762995p1.html
-
I doubt this will work out to be in the final version, though. Hardly anything has been metnioned about in the last 6 months.
Hardly anything has been mentioned let alone crossbreeding.
-
Has there been a release date yet? I've heard October 1
-
There's no confirmed date, it could be as early as March/April or later to July/August, we don't know. Hopefully it will be soon, I don't really think it will be as late as October, although it could happen.
-
Okay, but I just really want it to be quick! lol
-
My avatar's from spore!!
-
Okay, you know how everybody thinks spore is coming out in summer? Not going to happen. According to an article in Popular science, Spore will not be released until fall! :fear:
-
wha?! th-thats impossible!! NOOOOO!!!!! :boohoo: i always thought it was coming in March!! :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo:
-
I myself was aiming for somewhere during the summer, but I guess we'll have to wait until fall.... :crying:
-
I wouldn't worry about it, Sporewiki says that it is approximately 145 days until the release, which is much less than even half a year. :console:
-
I believe their taking a rough release date on Sporewiki, and probably added that countdown calender fucnction when the release date was still around june....
-
Well I just figured that they would change it if they found out that the release date was october.
Besides october is just one group's opinion. I still think it's coming out sometime in June/July, maybe August at the latest.
-
I'll uninstall every game on my computer if that's what it takes to make room for spore. As a last resort i may even remove ZT2 :surprise:. Hopefully it doesn't come to that though.
-
I dont mind if spore comes late. i want them to do a good job on spore!
-
True, but Will could lose some hype for his game if it comes out to late...
-
I'll NEVER remove ZT2, but it's the only game I currently have anyway...
-
I hope there isn't any posibility of lawswits, because I'll rip off most popular fictional creatures...
Oh, and, beware young players, there is a huge percentage of will-be players that plan making creatures that look like Masculine genitalia. Disgusting...
-
That's not a problem. You can just ban their creations from being uploaded on to your game. :D Plus, I think Will said that if to many people block someones creations, they will not have there creations automatically uploaded to someones game, even if they haven't chose to ban them specifically.
-
Is there any new news on spore anywhere in this big world? :ohmy
-
I haven't really heard anything concrete yet :(
-
On sporewiki there is an article with Will Wright himself saying that it will be released at a Septemberish time. :boohoo:
-
I was hoping for a summer release date... more people could play it. And the game is basically done. All will is doing is pretty much toying around with the stuff, and possible making it worse. Like the newest version of the creature editor. He made it very, very, very cartooney compared to what it was.
In fact, I have a video of the newest creature editor version, but I don't think I can post links here...
-
You were able to before, why not now?
Seriously, he's making it worse?
-
The game itself isnt really worse. The creature editor just doesn't look as good...
Okay, the editor panels look the same, but the background is different. Instead of it being in a sci-fi looking "inside an egg" environment, it's now more outside looking. Your creature stands on a flat, undecorated green platform, while in the background there are 2-D trees and 2-D plants everywhere. When you go into the little "test drive" area for your new creature, the trees disappear, but you are left on that flat, featureless green disc to walk around on.
And in the creature phase of the game, all your little emotions you can use are displayed as big smiles in the corner of the screen, layed over the environment. Not to mention that during the UFO stage, the buttons were more cluttered up instead of being nice and spread out.
I may be able to post pictures and links, but I wouldnt do it without a Mod or Admin's consent. :D
-
That's for the best  .
About that creature editor, I thought the green area was already there before?
-
Before, it looked like your creature was standing on a piece of earth, surrounded by a metal band in the previous creature editor. Now, your creature stands on a bright green platform with cartoon trees in the background. And in the little "test drive"area before, your creature would walk around on a little piece of actual land with little hills on it. Like I said, now you walk on a plain, uninteresting flat bright green platform....
You can PM me if you want the video of the New creature editor.
-
Iwont be getting this game :boohoo: Not because it looks lame; which it doesnt, it looks highly addicting. but my computer cant handle it. If they put it on Wii then id buy it. but not PC.
-
Is your computer an XP? If so, it should probably be able to handle it when it comes out.
-
when does this game come out? i really cant wait for it! i want to make a sort of bird-reptile thing.
also, is there an ocean creature mode? i thought i saw a clip of it in one of the trailers for the game on youtube.
-
There was an ocean creature mode, but Will took it out because of "problems" he has yet to disclose.
There is probably no flying creatures as well, and the game comes out "septemberish"
But don't worry, Flying and marine creatures will probably come out in the future, and you will probably be able to make flightless birds with the original version of the game. :D
-
thanks for the info. also, i wanted to make a flightless bird.
-
Then you probably won't have a problem with it. I have lots of creature ideas! I can't wait for the game to come out!
-
No marine creatures at the beggining? Aw, I wanted to make Kyogre...
-
Yeah, I was going to make a kraken... Or maybe a nice Nessie...
-
Even if we don't get marine or flying adaptation choices first up, we can still have some fun with this :D well, if my PC can handle it :crash: but it would be good if they could bring out expansions or something that added those in, because then you could make a really cool looking dragon :woot:
-
Is your computer an XP? If so, it should probably be able to handle it when it comes out.
I have lots of files on this PC and not alot of hard drive space, only like 2 gigs left so....
-
i think i have enough space for spore... but if i dont i will probably take out some other games.
-
What about RAM :fear: ? this game will probably lag really bad without probably 2 gigs of the stuff.
As for regular hard drive space, it'll probably be between 15-20 gigs of space, which is a real problem for me, cause I don't wanna get rid of any of my other game cause I like them!
-
My Compy likes me. Civ 4 is supposed to not work on my computer, but it still does... So Spore should be no problem. :eggthumup
-
15 gigs? That'd be outrageous. I'm thinking more like 5.
-
I agree, there is no way that a game would take up that much space. They would lose a lot of their market because people's computers couldn't handled the game.
-
I have a 100 gig drive though. Hehehe...
-
Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Deluxe edition takes up 15 gigs of hard drive
space.........this game looks bigger than a flight sim.
-
I'm thinking it'll only take maybe 4-6 GB . Considering WW said that each universe is only a few KB in size the majority is probably going to be the procedural animating systems and AI . Most fansites state that the game will mostly likely be released in December. WOOHOO!!!!! Still , I think it's taking a bit too long. I mean , the first news was released in March 2004. 3 YEARS WILL!!! 3 , LONG YEARS!!!!
-
I seriously doubt that with all of the Editors and the fact that the game is going to have to manage the Universe all at once that the game will be half the size of a Flight Simulator.
-
Will Wright did say that all the things would be very, very, very compressed to be as small as possible.
-
Well, whatever he says but this game is still gonna be pretty big, has he mentioned RAM?
-
Last I heard the system specs would be similar to The Sims 2, though that's probably incredibly old now. If it's going to be all procedural, it wont be very big at all, because nothing is pre-stored, the computer generates it all according to algorithms. It's pretty rare to see a game bigger than about 4GB, even if it is Spore. It will probably be quite CPU heavy, but nothing that a decent-spec system these days can handle, but generally it should probably be expected to run on 1GHz processors with 512MB of RAM (even Oblivion runs on that, and that's the closest parallel I can think of). That's pretty standard for most games on XP, but of course the more the better.
-
Well, I'm going to get a Vista Quad core, so Spore should run smooth as silk on it :D
-
It's pretty rare to see a game bigger than about 4GB
All of my favorite games are bigger than that.
-
*sigh* if this thing is bigger than 3 gigs i can proably forget about getting it...... though even if its not past that estimate i'll probably have to beg my parents.....alot..... :faint
I hope they come out with a demo though id be satisfyed with that... :eggthumup
-
You'd be suprised how much space you can get from running the "Disk Cleanup" boosted mine by almost 8 gigs!
-
Can't wait for spore the Nibblonians shall rule the univese in 5 nibblits
-
... Until the Chryidians come and destroy them! :eggevil
Anyway, I'm wonderng why will doesnt release a demo.
-
maybe cuz things are still in production, it seems like they have a long way to go... just in my opinion, anyways.
-
Will is practically done with the entire game. he's just redoing parts of it, maybe even accidentally making them worse. He could have released the game in 2005 and it would have been fine. 2 years later, however, and we don't even have a demo...
-
Yeah wish we had a demo. And the Nibblonians well eat your silly Chryidians
-
I mean, he would only need to give out a demo of the creature editor, too.
And your Nibbians cannot defeat my Chryidian Battle tanks!
-
i heard its coming out in june or july on the official website wich is www.spore.com
-
Nibblonians were 17 when the univese started! You may also know us as the furlings, forunners, Celestials, and the first born. We will kill turn you gas giants inot stars! The hurl a gas giant into you sun causing to to flare and steralise you planet. The we will activate the halos and kill any of your race left.
-
Not unless my gigantic 250 metre high killer lizard men stomp on your pathetic lil' planet! Muahahahaha!
-
The site says June, but will wright himself said "septemberish"
Not if my OPDMs blow your solar system up! And good luck getting you Nibblonians past my uber strong fleet of QUASARS to my solar systems one and only gas giant. There equipped with antimatter weaponry. One particle of the stuff can cause a catastrophic atomic explosion. So just think what a glob the size of a Saturn V rocket would do? :badgnome:
