Zt2 Es - Variant Skins Won't Show Up

Hi!

This is my first post and before i ask anything, i want to apologize for my bad English - since i'm not a native speaker, i hope you'll understand me *ggg*.

Ok, here we go - I'm currently tryin to create variant skins for some animals in ZT2 - I began with the common peafowl and everything was just fine, i converted the skin-files to .dds, moved it to "entities.z2f\entities\units\animals\PeafowlCommon" and the new skins would show up without any problems.
But then I tried to do some skinning for the new ES-Animals and so made up 4 new skins for the wolf and 1 for the scitimar horned oryx- and here is the prob:
I moved the skinfiles (after converting them to .dds) to "x100_000.z2f\entities\units\animals\WolfGray" but when i tested the new skins, none of them would appear, even after adopting about 50 wolves - so what can I do to make the new skins appear in the game?
Do I have to put the files anywhere else?

I'd really be glad, if somebody could help me with this.

PS.: Another Question: Can anyone tell me, if it's possible to change the colors of the long tail of the peacock and combine this with a variant skin, so i could make an all-white peacock?

Hi!

It's not that hard, if you have some experience with Photoshop and know how to convert/import the skins ... I started  out with APE 2 to get into the basics, and then went on experimenting with the graphics - but please don't ask me anything more complicated, i just started out this afternoon, so i'm a complete noob at this time *lol*.

Ok then, so it should be extremely easy for you - it's just numbering the different skins for each species (for instance CommonPeafowl_Adult_F.dds for the original, CommonPeafowl_Adult_F_2.dds for Variety 1 and so on).

For me, this works fine except for ES-Animals.

Thanks for the link Zoohio - i'll try to submit the files in a few days, cause there are some more ideas for different peafowl-skins in my head and I think, I'll do a little more skinning and then submit the best of my creations as a pack for download.  

But over all I hope, that somebody will help me with my ES-Skin-Prob *lol*.

I'd love to help you with the ES problem, but unfortunately the only one I know to have it work is Martin1990.
The only thing I can think of, is if some of the animals you are trying to make skins for (like the wolf and oryx) already have some skins saved as 2 and 3 or whatever, then maybe you have to make yours 4 and 5 or something. Does this even make since?

Thank's for the tip, but I already tried that, and unfortunately it didn't work.

BTW, it seems as if there are only 5 different skins allowed per species and gender - I made some more skins for the peafowl today, but any number higher than 5 won't show up in game.  :8

That's a shame.. I was looking forward to combining so many variatians in my game..  Maybe there'll be a hack in the future.

As for the Wolf skin, I really don't know what to tell you.  I just made a wolf skin myself and didn't have any problems with it showing up.  I'm not sure where your problem is..  I wish I had some help.

Well, where did you put the .dds-file of your wolf-skin, if I may ask?

HAHA, I just fixed it!!!!!

The problem was, that the original skinfile was named "WolfGray_Adult_M", so i saved my skins the same way, numbering them through.
But the fact is, that varient skins only show up in the game, when they are saved as "WolfGray_Adult_F_1".
That was everything and now i can create varient skins for all the ES-Animals too *cheers*.
