Can't create animals

I have downloaded APE2 and I am following every instruction. Double check everything. I click on all of the xml files to see if they work. I don't know what the problem is but when I go into ZT2 to look at the animal I created all that is there is a little white box. When I hover the mouse over it the aniamls name is displayed but when I click on it the game freezes. What am I doing wrong that would cause this? Please help

something is wrong with the nif or bfm files. Did you edit those correctly? Did you rename them?
