Kiekebanus' questions
« on: July 05, 2006, 11:54:07 AM »
How can I prevent hhis:

It's a usermade animal by myself. So I want to know how I can prefent this. And in the animal adoption menu it's the same.

you need to keep the transparancy of the .dds file. One way to do that is to recolor using this guide

Well the problems could be from:
Badly named folders
THe entities/units/animals/ai files not working
Or making the z2f file badly

I still don't know what I do wrong. So I have stopped with this animal.

But I have another question.

Can you made a Adult female of a baby that looks different then the adults.

Sorry you had to stop that animal :(

Yes, you can make the baby an adult. The way to do this is to take the baby .nif file and then copy it and paste it. Then rename it the same as the adult female's .nif file and delete the adult female's.

Hope this makes sense!

You have to edit the alpha channel and make it transparent. If you are using DXTBMP this is easy, would you like me to explain how?

Ok, tell me if anything is unclear.

You should already have DXTBMP since I explained that earlier. So now, load the beard file in there. Now, in the top right section will be a black and white image. Set the editor to paint, and then double click on the black and white image. Now, in paint, make the entire thing black, save it, go back to DXTBMP, refresh, and save

First of all thanks for explaining me. It works :IloveZA:

But I was looking in the download database and i saw that you can have a gazelle as deer (boreal forest pack). How do you do that. That should make my deer more realistic.

Well, since I did the black-tailed deer, I can answer that. You just use the dds from the male caribou for the male, and the female gazelle for the female deer. All that's required is to re-color her, and in the ai and bfm file, change her scale (so she's a little larger). It doesn't matter when you 'mix' male/female models, as long as you name things correctly. :original:

Sometimes this happens if the dds file is not saved right. Be sure to save it as DXT3 :original:

If it's made without the Materials files, it should. Just make sure and use the original entities files for a basis.
