Editing the lifespan of the live prey
« on: November 01, 2006, 11:30:45 AM »
I've tried opening all the files but the .bfm file (because I don't know what program to open it in) and haven't seen anything that seemed to include the lifespan variable for live prey items. Does anybody know/think it would be possible to make their lifespans match those of the actual animals in the zoo?

EDIT: By this I mean all live prey items; the fish and the lizard. :)

What live prey are you speaking about - lizards (answer is NO) or live fish (answer is still NO).

Aww. If the answer is 'no' in both instances, I guess it won't matter which... *lol*! I meant all of them, to clarify -- guess I ought to edit and make that more clear. Are you saying that no, you don't know, or that it isn't possible?

not sure what csleesburg means, but did you try the tsk file in ai/tasks/animals? In there, there is a section where it dies of old age and includes: lifespan="GE 100", so maybe you could change that number to a higher one

Thank you very much :D Once I get back from my classes I'm going to try that.  I'll edit this and let you know if it works!

There really isn't a reason to editing the lifespan of the live prey.  They don't server any other purpose than to be eaten.

No offense intended, but I do have a reason ^^; I wanted to make a tunafish tank, and I want my koi to live longer. I also like letting the lizards run around the zoo. :)

EDIT: I've edited several files so I'm testing to see if your advice worked :) (To penguinman)

I agree with starstruck_disaster.  Making an arctic cod tank and a tuna tank would be cool additions to an aquarium, and its a bummer from what I hear (yup, marine mania still ain't working for me...) that koi dont live very long... I dont know if this is possible, but it would be interesting if someone released a "lifespan hack" that changes the life amounts of all the live foods and the koi, to something like five years. : :) :

I'm pretty sure it's working :) it wasn't hard at all to do; worked the way penguinman said! I wouldn't know how to make it a hack, but if anyone wants to head to my projects thread and tell me I'll be happy to oblige.
