Hello guys, I am Wild One, and me and my staff will travel across the globe and show you the best zoo exhibits from across the world! Our first exhibit are of meerkats.
"The meerkat is a unique species native to South Africa in the Kalahari Desert. So, how does a zoo try to replicate the meerkat's natural behaviors in Germany? Come found out at the Pine Forest Zoo, in Berlin, Germany."
Zoo Name: Pine Forest Zoo
Zoo Location: Berlin, Germany
Exhibit Name: Meerkats, Up and Personal!
Exhibit Price: $75,000
Exhibit Size: 650,000 sq. ft.
This is a wonderfully done 650,000 sq. ft. exhibit, which has space both down under and above!

"We really like to stimulate our animals at this zoo, these meerkats are no exception, we give them senrty rocks to look out in their enviroment, live lizard food, rubber toys, as well as rattle balls as well as many others." says head zookeeper Mike Jesko. "One day, we walked into the exhibit and found ALOT of prey lizards all stacked up in a corner."

Meerkats are small, so how do you manage to see such little creatures?
Through 1 inch think plexiglass and concrete! But this fence isn't like this becuase meerkats are strong enough to break out, it's there to give you a good view of them.
"I really like meerkats, so when I heard about 5 meerkats (Butch, Cinnamon, Soilder, Gnome, and Tammy) avaliable for adoption, I had to get them, as they are an attractive species, and are a challenge to care for. But we love difficult challenges to face here at this zoo." says zoo director Jannet Lane.

Here are some questions some viewers had about the exhibit.
Q: "How did you keep the meerkats enclosed?
A: "We put a light mesh 10 ft. under and around the entire exhibit."
Q: "Are the meerkats aggresive?"
A: "Sometimes, but they can be gentle as well with other creatures."
Q: "What are the meerkats fed?"
A: "Insects, meat, and once in a rare while, fruit."
Q: "Are meerkats good swimmers?"
A: "Like most other mammals, they can swim pretty good, so we added a pool in their habitat."
Q: "How tall are meerkats?"
A: "About 12-14 inches, this was a problem in the exhibit design, but were glad the way it woked out."

The meerkats at Pine Forest Zoo in Berlin, Germany are doing great, and hopes for a baby are high! Cinnamon, the female, and Gnome, a male, have been together a lot lately, and zoo officials are hoping for meerkat offspring in the near future.
Cinnamon, the meerkat female, is 8 yrs. old and was orphaned as a baby in the Kalahari Desert in Africa, now however, she is living a happy live at the Pine Forest Zoo.

Gnome, one of 4 meerkat brothers, loves to play, and does it all day, his brothers try to sleep and he keeps hitting them on the head.: :) :
