Kiseki's Wolf Den
« on: October 18, 2006, 12:24:18 PM »
I decided to turn the Boreal Forest (Small) map into a gigantic wolf exhibit. I will get some full pictures of that later, but reading up on the wolves being territorial gave me this idea.

First off, I am only starting with two gray/timber wolves, a male and a female. My thoughts are that if they can create their own wolf pack, as in the wild, they won't be as keen to kill off the other wolves. However, one or two wolves might be introduced later for breeding purposes.

Second, because the exhibit is so large, they will not feel overcrowded, so this should please them quite a bit and make them less likely to act up. I did have a jeep tour going through at one point, as some of the pictures show, but it is now gone. I might bring in a sky tour later on...

Later on, I might attempt to bring in a second wolf pack to share the exhibit.

So, without further ado, let me introduce you to the first two wolves in the huge exhibit.

Keiru: "Alpha" male of the pack. He's mostly seen running around the exhibit as fast as he can. When the jeep tours were in, he used to chase the jeeps.

Sachi: "Alpha" female of the pack. She's playful, but mostly stays around the den and food bowls. She doesn't seem to enjoy exploring.

The pack has begun!

This looks very interesting Kiseki! I can't wait to see how the pack goes, it's a good idea to just see how the animals go on their own and document on it, nice work! :original:

After some consideration, we now have two packs going. :juggle:

The "Feather" pack, which is the original one with Sachi and Keiru, and the "Waterfall" pack, which is a new pack located on the other side of the exhibit. Actually, the Feather pack is more loctaed in the middle of the exhibit... this might get interesting if the two collide.

Sachi gave birth to two new pups, Kicho and Mizu.

For those who were wondering how the guest layout was:

And... the new pack's alphas:

Forever, the male:

And... the Waterfall which the Waterfall pack is named after:

One last pic - I saw this ambient squirrel, and thought the photo came out nicely:

The Feather names are mostly Japanese... (Keiru isn't)

Sachi is the short version of "happy child," Kicho means "tree butterfly," and Mizu means "water."

The English names I just came up with randomly. :blushing:
