Editing Animals From Bluefang Download Pakcs
« on: February 17, 2006, 08:28:53 AM »
Hi there, had zoo tycoon CC for a while but just recently got into this editing thing.  I think I understand the basics of how to edit animals.
But what I want to know is is there any way to edit non-standard animals, like the Komodo dragon, or Llama in A.P.E. 2?

Ape 2 is an edititng guide for ZT 2 not Zt 1.

The only way I can see to edit these animals for ZT 1 is to locate the animal's ztd file and open it in APE 1.1 to extract the images, however you will not be able to extract the animation images.

You have to look into Ape Enhancement and the like files.  The sticky above has a tutorial how to use them.  I'm using them for the last few years with great succes (meaning without messing up my ZT games).

I have looked around, for the llama and the komodo, use this file from the Zootycoonabc site.

Shortly:

1. copy your config.ztd (find in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Zoo Tycoon) file somewhere safe (I suggest making another folder for it)
2.delete the file in your ZooTycoon folder
3.take the config.ape file from ApeXP
4.place it in your ZooTycoon folder
5.rename your config.ape to config.ztd
6.open ApeXP
7.create new project
8.choose llama or komodo dragon

Watch out, if you want to play a game, you have replace your config file of ApeXP back with your original config.ztd file.  That's why you have to have a copy of it somewhere safe.  Otherwise the game will crash.

Also: I've had it, that my created animals won't work correctly.  Don't worry, this can be helped by extracted the original uca file of the llama, adding its uca numbers into the file.. etc.. it can be helped, shortly.  If you come across the problem, please post and I will help you.

Sorry my bad not A.P.E. 2   A.P.E. 2.5, I also have the DD and MM versions of that one, and the APE enhancement.  What's that APE XP?  Is that another version with the extra creatures in it's config file as well? And if so can I download it here?

Yes, it works the same.  It contains an config.ape file and ape.abc.  It is said you have to place both files in the Zoo Tycoon folder.  Which I did.  But you also have to change the config.ape to config.ztd, to get it to work.

I have that version Taz but haven't tried it as yet. Does it also include all the objects in the game or just the animals ?

I looked it up and yes, it includes the objects.  I'm not sure it has them all, though.  I see DD, MM and developers objects.  I'm saying this, because I know some animals are missing (harbor porpoise, f.e.).  I use this file, (switching occasionally) with the file of jbl.  I nearly have all animals if I do this.
