APE confusion

I've tried to do my first colour change using APE but have had problems. I've followed the tutorial on this site but still my animal hasn't worked.

I have followed the instructions on the tutorial but on another site it says you've got to change each animation frame by frame.

So..
1. Do I have to individually draw every frame?
2. Does the tutorial work for everyone (it seems very good so i'm sure it does).

The tutorial should work for everyone - APE is the same for everyone.

Yes you have to draw each frame individually.
