Problems With Animation Of Color Change

I am trying to change the color of an animal and have followed all the steps in the color change guide on this site.  I have been successful in changing the colors of all directions other than east and west.  Only the First frame of the annimation changes on these directions when i follow all the steps.  Does anyone know how i can fix this problem or is it just a bug? I'd really appreciate some help
