How Do I Install User Downloads

To install user downloads in Zoo Tycoon DO NOT use the check locally feature found in the game. This adds unnecessary files to the game that can cause problems and take up space you can use for other files.

1.) Make yourself a folder called Zoo Tycoon 1 Downloads somewhere on your system in an easy place for you to find it.

2.) Download the items the want to use in your game. Keep in mind that ZT has limits about how many files you can have installed so don't try to install to many. (360 ztd files in the updates/dlupdates folder & 63 dll files in the main Zoo Tycoon folder)

3.) You will need a program called Winzip to unzip the files you get from most of the sites. If you don't have winzip you can get Winzip Here

4.) When you unzip the files you should see 1 or 2 files inside. A filename.ztd file and a filename.dll file. Not all downloads have a dll file this applies mostly to buildings, some animals and some fences.

5.) Use edit/copy and edit/paste to manually install the files.

They get placed in the following folders

If you have just Zoo Tycoon or Zoo Tycoon and Dinosaur Digs Expansion they go into

C:/Program Files/ Microsoft Games/Zoo Tycoon/Updates

If you have Zoo Tycoon and the Marine Mania expansion ot Zoo Tycoon Complete Collection they go into

C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/dlupdate

Zoos you download go into

C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Zoo Tycoon/Saved Games

After installing a zoo you can open it using the Load a Saved Game feature
