Aquiring Bldgs. - Game Months...

Thanks for your replies to my compost bldg. question.   If this (and other) buildings or items are only available after a certain amount of "game time" has passed, my children may never see these things!  (Their attention span isn't huge...)   I'd like to be able to show them the game's potential and explain a few things to them -- is it possible to tweak the amount of time that has passed?   Thanks!

I don't think there is a way to do that, but I couldn't be sure.  You could download the Freeform Unlock, it gives you everything available in the game on day 1.
