Being a beta tester, I can now tell you that you can put any kind of water in the tanks that you want.

Well, there are crocs, and beavers, and hippos and wildebeest, etc. All the MM2 animals are ocean animals.

I can't wait for the aquariums and the Koi!!!

But what does it mean by koi? Will it be a koi pond? Or will the koi be an enrichment item? Just a statue?
Title: New Tours, Objects, and Fences
Post by: csleesburg on October 03, 2006, 02:25:16 PM
You make your own pond and buy the koi, individually.

No, they're not food. They decorative fish and they just swim, like regular koi do.

Cool! I was wandering what the koi was, I saw a file in the demo.

What of those objects is a tour? I can't see any tours, unless they're unlockable... :woot:

How does the treasure chest bubbler work? I was assuming it would be an enrichment item, like the clam bubbler - but to be a tour item it must be placeable somewhere where jeeps can go!

Guests can see it (chest) through the tank walls and you can place it out of a tank if you want too. it just dont bubble. lol.

oh well... i never open my zoos anyway:laughing: but it would be nice if guests said like 'watching the koi is very relaxing' or something..

does EVERY marine animal use one of the 3 shelters?

Well ya know, if people want freshwater water-based animals, we could always have the coders/skinners/modellers whip something up.
Maybe a bass, perch, and other freshwater game fish to enhance the exhibit?
I mean, wouldn't a land-water hippo tank with talapia be awesome?
Title: New Tours, Objects, and Fences
Post by: amkid247 on October 05, 2006, 07:08:36 PM
river otters too lol
anyway i wonder what crazy tours i can make with ES and MM it'll be awsome! just think a lift tour barely touching the water over a great white shark tank!

Title: New Tours, Objects, and Fences
Post by: amkid247 on October 06, 2006, 12:39:52 PM
the proper name is beta but that would be cool especially if someone gets the fins right. anyway the koi is an excellent idea! ive been to many zoos and if they have hippos they have fishes in the tank with them, and although they always have chichilids someone could always modify the koi. so all in all koi = awsomeness.
Title: New Tours, Objects, and Fences
Post by: Crookshankz227 on October 07, 2006, 02:44:03 AM
I hope we can make proper animals out of the koi!! Just think of all the possibilities!!!

Do animals mind the ship etc? Will they swim through them?

BTW, bettas would be awesome, but I don't think you can make splendens because of the fins. I think you could make the other species, though.

So the new marine fences are glass?  Guests will get an underwater view throught the fences, like in ZT1 Marine Mania?  I hope that is how it will work.

Well, there is a tank wall just like MM1, and there are marine themed walls, just like jungle, tundra, desert, etc that arn't tanks.

can you put land in a water exbit?!
Title: New Tours, Objects, and Fences
Post by: mikaboshi on October 17, 2006, 04:22:25 AM
You can make marine exhibits in one of three ways:

-Just a regular ol' tank, just filled with water.
-Combined land/tank exhibits like in MM for ZT1
-Having a land exhibit, use the biome brush to place water in the land exhibit, and place the marine animals in the water (no tank needed)

in zoopedia on the demo, it was called an unlockable
from a campaign i think.

That would be the blue whale hall.
An unlockable object from the first 3 campains.
Cant tell you what it 'does' as there were bugs that stopped some testers getting it unlocked after completing the campains.

(i think its ok to say that?)

The koi can be added to any tank. That would be nice if the guests could view the koi, they are very relaxing, I use to have a whole pond of them. Betas would be cool so would Japanesse Fantails.

Also as I remember in the Beta 2 there where a few unlockable objects. I never got to unlock the Blue Whale hall in the beta, so I'm hoping the Strategy Guide will help with that this time.

It would be cool if BF made a building were you could release ambients like the kangaroo rats in the desert zoos. They always end up dissapearing but the building would allow you to keep making more and releasing other ambient species like chipmunks or maybe even some fish to put in crocodile exhibits or hippo exhibits making them more realistic.

-Boat Ride with glass bottom

It's just a thought but it would be cool to have it! Also, can any Zoo Tycoon 2 animal(polar bear,crocodile,hippo...) swim in the tanks or is it just ZT2:MM animals?
Title: New Tours, Objects, and Fences

most animals that can swim can have tanks or at least hybrids, but whats the point of putting a lion in a tank lol? so yes polar bears can go in tanks
Title: New Tours, Objects, and Fences
