Question About System Requirements
« on: November 30, 2006, 11:07:59 AM »
I read the system requirements and noticed it said 32x Speed CD-ROM drive. I'm thinking about gettting a new computer and am lookin into the MacBook, which I can get free software that allows me to install Windows XP (doesn't come with it) on it. But the CD drive is only 24x speed. My question is will the CD-ROM speed keep be from being able to play the game?

Thanks,
 - Nicole

You should still be able to play the game, but it might lag sometimes.

well, there are basically two answers:

1. your game would be able to run but your system won't be able to keep up with it.  EX: sounds might not go with the correct game speed, animations could be slower, etc.

2. it might not run at all.  if number one does happen to be the case, i would just choose not to get the game at all.

Well, there is an option of using an image making software like Alcohol 120%, and then "mounting" the image of the CD on your computer virtually...it'll be like running a cd from your harddrive, and bypasses the CD rom altogether. I do it with some of my games so i dont have to switch cds all the time

Also know that in order to run Virtual PC or Boot Camp on the MacBook, you should have more than the recommended amount of RAM for ZT2...XP is a memory hog, as is OS X, and with all three running together, it could get crazy.

For the speed of your current CD-Rom, look at the front of your computer.  On the CD drive itself should be the model name and speed.  If there is more than one number, it will be the largest of the numbers - ie mine is a CD burner and the numbers are 16/10/40, the 40 is the reading speed and the others are the write/rewrite speeds.

If it is not marked on the front of your CD-ROM or DVD, you can download a free utility to measure the speed of your drive.  Just go to:

http://www.cdspeed2000.com/

and click on the download link and follow the installation instructions.
