I have some questions about variant skins aka different color coats.
What are the species that are supposed to have them?
What do they look like?
Is there really a White Bengal Tiger?
Can someone please post some screen shots of some variant skin animals or tell me where to find some?
I am not sure if I am getting them or not all my animals look the same.
Please answer asap and thank you in advance.

If this is not the right forum please don't just lock it tell me the right forum to place it in, I really need this question answered.

Hello, Princess_serenety! I don't think I've seen you except in Introductions, so howdy!

1) yes, there IS a white Bengal tiger
2) a lot, not ALL, of the animals have variant skins. They aren't confined to one particular species. Some are from Blue Fang, many from user-made downloads
3) the chance of having a variant skin appear is about 33%
4) I'm not sure if anyone has screenshots of them, but you can see what they look like when you download them (there IS a screenshot with each download)
5) many of the 'skinners' have images in their topics (e.g. Penguinman's Projects, exitree's Projects, Gibbon_Fanatic's projects, etc)
6) MOST (not all) of the animal makers automatically include variants with their animals
7) if all you want is JUST variants, you can find them in our Downloads Section here.

i afopted about 25 caribou's but not one had a varient skin that ive downloaded, if its 33% i should of got some varients

Have you downloaded the skins properly or at all ? I don't think that caribous came with a variant skin. Try adopting 10 or so bengal tigers, you should get a couple of white ones.

yeah theres a couple of caribou skins in downloads n ive put them in the right place, i havnt tried any other animal with a varient yet tho so ill give that a whirl, but that doesnt explain why im not seeing different caribou's hmph

My display settings are set to custom with everthing set as high as it can go. I did a reinstall last night and laid down 250 Bengal Tigers and none were white. Is this White tiger a download from somewhere or did it come with endangered species expansion pack?

Hmm... Yes, the White Tiger is a variant skin of the Bengal Tiger, and it does come only with the expansion pack(and I'm pretty sure there is a White Bengal Tiger you can download as a separate animal, and it isn't a variant skin). All variants come with the expansion pack. Do you have the expansion pack, because that might be a problem. :8

i have the add on pack.. and i also adopted loads of bengal tigers and didnt get a single white one.. and the caribou skins and other animal varients are all in the right place.. not in any other folders within the downloads folder.. im getting my new comp on monday so will be installing it on there and ill start again with all the downloads, maybe it'll be ok then

I had this problem too. I think it has to do with the Detail Objects setting in 'options'. I'm not sure, but it has to be meduim NOT high for me.

well im gettin white bengal tigers now but no goldon tabby ones n ive got that download.. i think.. Also im getting caribou varients now but it takes a while for them to change colour n then before my eyes their changing back to the normal colour lol v weird.. and that was with my detail setting on medium and not high

ive ended up copying all the varients into the corresponding animal folders in the 100_000 file n i get all the varients now.. btw if anyone havin the same problem i was having with varients not showing ill be glad to tell how to get them into the 100_000 file

try putting the 'detail setting' onto medium bigheads and just place about 5 bengal tigers, u should defo get at least one white one

I have the expansion pack. I have tried putting my settings on medium. I didn't download anything. I was told that the white tiger variant is included with the expansion pack. So is it or isn't it and what is the chance of it showing up?

It is included and the chance seems to be maybe 1 in 4 or 1 in 5. Just place a bunch and see if it shows.

If you have the game paused while putting them in, their coats wont change.

It's got to be hard-coded to be random, because I placed two white females in two different zoos and only one male. I have no idea what BF's ratio is. And ALL my settings are on High. ??(shrugs) Just the luck of the draw, I guess. :whistle

i dont know what the bf ratio is, but i find the occurance of varients to be utterly random, sometimes i get one or two of one kind, sometimes thats all i get, sometimes i get pretty even amounts... you just have to click until you get the skin you want, atleast thats what i do lol

for example, with my giraffe vairents, some times i will have to click and click to get a light one, sometimes thats all that shows up, same with the other skins.
