Animals' Livespan

I've noticed that animals in Zoo Tycoon die of old age at around three years. :blink: That's a bit young, but I have two great whites that I got in year one, and I'm now in year 11, and they're still around. I also have some very old manatees. Is it just the regular Zoo Tycoon and Dinosaur Digs animals that seem to die young?

The creators tried to create some differences in animal life spans after the first 2 games came out. The MM animals do tend to have longer life spans (in game years) than most of the other animals, with maybe the exception of the Lions and Moose (at least for me).
