Well, what have we been adding to PPNE today?
Firstly,we are still moving towards a complete listing of all the suchians, the crocodiles & their relatives,in the reptiles guide. As,compared to some reptiles, there are relatively few living species we're going to break our normal rule. What we've been doing with the reptiles so far is to only add the extinct ones, where there are no LIVING examples of that type left. When we added the Tuataras,as there were only two living species we added those in anyway. We will do the same with the living crocs.
In the meantime the evenings are currently taken up,as with the last few days, with adding parrots. There are many genera (plural of genus,a genus being a group of closely related species) of parrot which only had a few species;including the Grey Parrot,Psittacus, which gives the name to the entire family & order of birds. We've done a sweep of these smaller genera & added them tonight. The parrots are by no means finished,so please check in regularly.
We've added a few of the cockatiel colour varieties as well.
The last thing tonight is that we have also added all the known prehistoric parrots. In PPNE there is a rule that, unless the animal is well known, like the Cave Lion or the Dire Wolf,or recently extinct, then if the genus has living species the prehistoric one's aren't listed in PPNE.Well,we found precisely FOUR prehistoric parrots,in their own family, which we have added.
