Title: SeaWorld Pennsylvania
Post by: MarineManiac on November 03, 2006, 03:53:55 PM
Here's something to look forward to, my first ZT2 show and tell.  Hope you all enjoy.

Here's the storyline:
Ever since the closing of the SeaWorld Aurora in Ohio, all of us Northerners were tired of having to travel halfway across the country to see rare and exotic marine animals.  So after hearing enough complains, Anaheuser(horrible spelling:laughing) Busch decides to build a SeaWorld right up in Pittsburgh, PA.  And to be put in charge as marine park director...me!  So the project is just about to begin, be patient and pics of the next great marine park will be posted soon.

Show & Tell threads are supposed to contain pics of your zoos, not just the intent to post them. You have until Sunday the 5th to get some pics up here, or we will have to close this thread. It can be reopened when your pics are ready to go up. Just PM a Mod or Admin to open it back up.

Thank you.

Wow! Thanks guys!  I didn't think there would be much interest.  Don't worry LadyZ, I had the pics I just needed to edit, it takes a while:laughing:

Alright.  The land has been confirmed there is a large lake just outside Pittsburgh that is going to be great for the park.  Since it is a little grassy, I'm going to have to import some sand from the Sahara and add some dunes.  You can actually still see the city skyline of Pittsburgh, which will look great at night! (http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/1338/landou8.th.jpg) (http://(http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/1338/landou8.th.jpg) (http://img163.imageshack.us/my.php?image=landou8.jpg)

The park gate is also up after a few weeks of constructing.(http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/6043/gatelw8.th.jpg) (http://(http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/6043/gatelw8.th.jpg) (http://img179.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gatelw8.jpg)

Okay so after a few months we have sand, from the Sahara, added all around the lake and some dunes at the park entrance.  We also decided to go ahead the schedule and add the scenery for the park gate area.  Check out these. (http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/5924/parkgatebackjs2.th.jpg) (http://(http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/5924/parkgatebackjs2.th.jpg) (http://img528.imageshack.us/my.php?image=parkgatebackjs2.jpg) (http://img102.imageshack.us/img102/174/parkgatefrontzl4.th.jpg) (http://(http://img102.imageshack.us/img102/174/parkgatefrontzl4.th.jpg) (http://img102.imageshack.us/my.php?image=parkgatefrontzl4.jpg)

Just as a sneak hint, the animal attractions will be put up very soon, and are in progress as we speak.

Thanks!  I' m going to make this a little more fin. I'm going to give you all some sharp clues on what attraction is next.  You can post your fearsome guess if you want, but I'm not posting any more pics today until someone does correctly:wicked::mwahaha:  .  If no one gills anything by today's end, Eastern Time, I'll post the pics tomorrow.  Oh and by the way, the clues are in what I just wrote:wink:  And name not the animal but the SeaWorld attraction, unless you've never been to SeaWorld, give the animal.

the shark tunnel I know it
Title: SeaWorld Pennsylvania
Post by: MarineManiac on November 04, 2006, 01:39:05 PM
Yeah good point, but I guess no one will miss that sand anyway seeing as it came from the desert with the most sand.

andypvera, I'll give it to you anyways, since you got so close.  I was looking for Shark Encounter, but there is a shark tunnel in it.  Since ZT2 doesn't have any tunnels, I made a shark indoor aquarium called Shark Encounter.

The Shark Encounter Aquarium is now finished.  Animals are being transported at this very moment.  Although I can't show any pics of the inside here's one of the actual complex. The sharks are now situated in their new environement and you are all invited to a private showing of this aquarium.  Just turn here into the entrance. (http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/4690/entranceyy8.th.jpg) (http://(http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/4690/entranceyy8.th.jpg) (http://img294.imageshack.us/my.php?image=entranceyy8.jpg) Please remember that these are sensitive animals and try not to tap on the glass.  you will also be going into all exhibits except for the Goblin Shark exhibit, they are VERY solitary.  Ok our first stop takes us to the Black-tip Reef Shark tank.  As you can notice the exhibit is quite colorful and Bali (m) and Coral (f) seem to enjoy themselves.(http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/6026/btsexhibitcg7.th.jpg) (http://(http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/6026/btsexhibitcg7.th.jpg) (http://img136.imageshack.us/my.php?image=btsexhibitcg7.jpg)  Next up we have our hammerheads, Hammy (m) and Shell (f)  Their exhibit displays foliage from both coastal and reef biomes, due to a new discovery that palegic animals can tolerate both. (http://img95.imageshack.us/img95/6091/hsexhibitvz7.th.jpg) (http://(http://img95.imageshack.us/img95/6091/hsexhibitvz7.th.jpg) (http://img95.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hsexhibitvz7.jpg) Now we have our fearsome White Sharks, Jaws (m) and Jewls (f)  Don't be fooled by their viscious appearance, for these animals are quite gentle unless provoked.(http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/6272/gwsexhibitso5.th.jpg) (http://(http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/6272/gwsexhibitso5.th.jpg) (http://img138.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gwsexhibitso5.jpg)  Next up are the Whale Sharks, George (m) and Helen (f).  Their exhibit is quite deep and is necessary because Whale Sharks prefer deep water.(http://img273.imageshack.us/img273/8615/wsexhibitqu7.th.jpg) (http://(http://img273.imageshack.us/img273/8615/wsexhibitqu7.th.jpg) (http://img273.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wsexhibitqu7.jpg)  Finally our last visit is for Rumplestiltskin (m) and Goblina (f), our two rare Goblin Sharks. (http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/5933/gsexhibitxn1.th.jpg) (http://(http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/5933/gsexhibitxn1.th.jpg) (http://img223.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gsexhibitxn1.jpg) eye_ of_ the_ tiger and SeaWorld Fan, I told you no tapping on the glass:angry: ( Kidding, just play along:wink: )

Now get ready to suit up for a shark dive: :) :  If you would like to skip the shark dive to health conditions just let me know and I will scratch you off the list.

Amazing pics MM---you've done a great job with this marine zoo. I am very impressed with the Shark Encounter exhibit you created. Since I don't have MM2 yet (and won't for a while) I truly appreciate you taking the time to showcase what can be done with this new expansion.

If you have an enclosed diving bell, I'll go--but since I can't swim, I'll just keep my feet dry and watch from a safe distance!

Keep Building!

Thank you very much LadyZ, and yes I do have a enclosed diving bell, for those who don't want any danger.  I will tell you all to prepare for a dive very soon, sometime tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks everyone!  Here are the pictures from the very successful shark dive.  Although the sharks just loved being around eye_of the_tiger (probably because they knew he had no insurance and was an easy snack:laughing: ), HorseGal, and Crookshankz, and It had quite a nice turnout.  Just click on the links below.

I look at your pics and how do you make a roof on a water exibit
Title: SeaWorld Pennsylvania
Post by: MarineManiac on November 05, 2006, 01:23:00 PM
Basically all you do is take the elevated pathway from ES and place at a good height above the pathway.  Next adjust your tank walls to go just under the "roof".  Now add a opaque tank wall near the path as an actual wall and lower or raise that to fit under the roof.

It is similar to Orlando, but it will have some things that no SeaWorld has done before.  Anyways, yes Clyde and Seamore take Pirate Island is correct!   However, it will not be a show, due to a lack of space( I'll try to fit one in if I can), it will be an exhibit featuring Otters and Sea Lions called Pirate Island with pirate theming.

Thanks!: :) :   The animals have finally situated at Pirate Island.  We have 4 California Sea Lions: Bonnie, Clyde, Shelly, and Seamore and 2 Sea Otters: Otto and Jamie.  Here's the a pic of the exhibit as the guests would see.  The pirate theme was greatly used in this exhibit. (http://img459.imageshack.us/img459/4779/pirateislandzz6.th.jpg) (http://(http://img459.imageshack.us/img459/4779/pirateislandzz6.th.jpg) (http://img459.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pirateislandzz6.jpg) As guests round some corners, there is an underwater viewing of these animals.  (http://img456.imageshack.us/img456/5276/pirateislandunderwaternv9.th.jpg) (http://(http://img456.imageshack.us/img456/5276/pirateislandunderwaternv9.th.jpg) (http://img456.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pirateislandunderwaternv9.jpg)  Now I'll give you all a tour of the exhibit.  First up is the island where we find Bonnie and Clyde are leisurely resting.  Make sure you hold on to personal items, these two are known for getting their hands on human objects.  (http://img488.imageshack.us/img488/5021/islandnu4.th.jpg) (http://(http://img488.imageshack.us/img488/5021/islandnu4.th.jpg) (http://img488.imageshack.us/my.php?image=islandnu4.jpg)  And now we have Shelly and Seamore going for a swim among a forest of kelp.  (http://img480.imageshack.us/img480/6092/piunderwaterol7.th.jpg) (http://(http://img480.imageshack.us/img480/6092/piunderwaterol7.th.jpg) (http://img480.imageshack.us/my.php?image=piunderwaterol7.jpg)  And finally we have our two Sea Otters: Otto and Jamie who are just romping around.  (http://img388.imageshack.us/img388/3716/ottersbr7.th.jpg) (http://(http://img388.imageshack.us/img388/3716/ottersbr7.th.jpg) (http://img388.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ottersbr7.jpg)

Oh and here's the next clue; and if you can't guess it, I will give a mystery pic:

Alright folks, get ready to chill out but don't relax, because things are about to get a little chatty.  We're going to go where Bielski lives but just the opposite.:bielski:

I thought of I would have some pics of the penguins by now, but they are giving my employees a bit of trouble, the rockhoppers are very sweet.  Unfortuantely I can't say the same about the emporers, with their biting.  Well, you know what they say, if no one else can do it, do it yourself.  So far I can only give a pic of the finsihed building.  I'll get pics, with the mystery pic (though I won't tell you what it is in case I do that again) later once these rambunctious penguins are settled.  (http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/114/pebuildinguc3.th.jpg) (http://(http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/114/pebuildinguc3.th.jpg) (http://img520.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pebuildinguc3.jpg)

Finally, those penguins are settled, and I have the bruises to prove it, who would have thought those penguins could kick so hard:wacko:  Anyways this also gave me time to start another project that I will divulge later:whistling   Now for the tour of Penguin Encounter.  The first sight you will see is a very long hall, and that's about all your going to see in this building anyway:laughing: (http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/1659/hallnl9.th.jpg) (http://(http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/1659/hallnl9.th.jpg) (http://img295.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hallnl9.jpg)  As you can see there is a little more water depth for the penguins than there was in previous Penguin Encounters.  (http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/8121/underwaterpz6.th.jpg) (http://(http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/8121/underwaterpz6.th.jpg) (http://img295.imageshack.us/my.php?image=underwaterpz6.jpg)  If you look on your right very quickly, you can see one of those cute Rockhopper Penguins swimming by. (http://img396.imageshack.us/img396/5769/rockhopperjg2.th.jpg) (http://(http://img396.imageshack.us/img396/5769/rockhopperjg2.th.jpg) (http://img396.imageshack.us/my.php?image=rockhopperjg2.jpg)  Now for a closer look.  As you can see these penguins are equipped with everything they can need.  (http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/4624/onlandrj5.th.jpg) (http://(http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/4624/onlandrj5.th.jpg) (http://img293.imageshack.us/my.php?image=onlandrj5.jpg)  Here you can see how happy they are in their new exhibit.  (http://img392.imageshack.us/img392/1171/inwaterfn8.th.jpg) (http://(http://img392.imageshack.us/img392/1171/inwaterfn8.th.jpg) (http://img392.imageshack.us/my.php?image=inwaterfn8.jpg)  All I have to say is watch out for this one.  (http://img55.imageshack.us/img55/9120/emperorgt6.th.jpg) (http://(http://img55.imageshack.us/img55/9120/emperorgt6.th.jpg) (http://img55.imageshack.us/my.php?image=emperorgt6.jpg)

There is a new attraction coming later.  Although it isn't the last, it will be the crown achivement of this park.  It has been in construction for more than a year and the animals are about to be in place.  I will give the clue later.

Does Wild Arctic contain Beluga's, Polar Bears. And narwhals? And don't they have a huge scenery with like people are exploring the arctic with huts and other ice things.
Title: SeaWorld Pennsylvania
Post by: HorseGal on November 13, 2006, 12:44:14 PM
Yeah, that's basically it, except I think that there aren't any Narwhals. Just Belugas and Polar Bears, and I think a walrus.

Sorry the tour for Wild Arctic took so long.  I had to deal with construction, just as I was about to place the animals, one of the tanks cracked and filled the lower floor with thousands of gallons of water.  The good news is that no one or animals were hurt.  The bad news, I couldn't get pics.

To begin our tour.  As you enter Wild Arctic you walk beneath a beautiful Inuit arch.  (http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/8990/wildarcticentrancege4.th.jpg) (http://(http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/8990/wildarcticentrancege4.th.jpg) (http://img116.imageshack.us/my.php?image=wildarcticentrancege4.jpg)  Our first stop on the tour is the Beluga exhibit, Betty (f) and Warren (m).  Although they seem shy, they will warm up to humans soon. (http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/2468/belugaaboverg3.th.jpg) (http://(http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/2468/belugaaboverg3.th.jpg) (http://img232.imageshack.us/my.php?image=belugaaboverg3.jpg)  Next up are the Polar Bears, Pete (m) and Patricia (f), who to be relaxing quite contended. (http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/2961/polarabovezh7.th.jpg) (http://(http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/2961/polarabovezh7.th.jpg) (http://img45.imageshack.us/my.php?image=polarabovezh7.jpg)  Now its time to check out our lovable walri, Wallace (m) and Winona (f) , who are resting on the rock island.  (http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/4254/walrusabovenk8.th.jpg) (http://(http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/4254/walrusabovenk8.th.jpg) (http://img45.imageshack.us/my.php?image=walrusabovenk8.jpg) Finally, a world first, the Narwhals.  The female (Nikki) is in hiding, but the male ( Noah) wanted to come and say hi.  (http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/2518/narwhalabovetr5.th.jpg) (http://(http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/2518/narwhalabovetr5.th.jpg) (http://img74.imageshack.us/my.php?image=narwhalabovetr5.jpg) But... that's not all.  Now it's time to go downstairs(http://img506.imageshack.us/img506/2913/downstairsya0.th.jpg) (http://(http://img506.imageshack.us/img506/2913/downstairsya0.th.jpg) (http://img506.imageshack.us/my.php?image=downstairsya0.jpg), but it's time for a break in the tour and eat some delicious cookies, that csleesburg has baked.

Edit: Sorry about the walrus pic, I think that was the end of my roll of film.  I think I might need to switch to digital.

I'm getting Marine Mania 2 for Christmas and I don't really know much about the features, but I doubt I'll be able to replicate what you've been doing. This is more-or-less the reason I joined the forum in the first place, to view the artistic skills of fellow ZTers. I'll be looking forward to viewing more.

Great news.  The construction for Key West Fest is almost done!  The animals are settled and the scenery is taking shape.  So far the exhibits done are: Turtle Point, Coastal Cove, Flamingo Lagoon, and the Key West Fest stadium and show (although there aren't that many tricks now.)  There is also one more exhibit, but you will find out about that when I get the pics up sometime today or tomorrow or the next day, preferably today but you never know how computers will act.

I don't know.  I've never seen it.

Thanks, lizardlips!

Anyway, due to icy weather in my park I will not be able to take pics right now, but be sure to expect VERY soon.
