Sanctuaries Around The World
« on: June 18, 2006, 01:22:31 PM »
Hello, I'm going on a 7 day trip to visit some of the popular sanctuaries around the world.

My first stop, The Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary, located in Canada. It is Canada's only Grizzly Bear sanctuary and home to great populations of grizzly bears.

After arriving in India, I visit the well know Elephant camp, Theppakkadu. There are over 20 Elephants at the camp, all are female.

Theppakkadu acquired one lone bull, he wandered into the camp and has made it his new home.

Thanks for the comments everyone :)
Flames The Dragon, I don't know how to explain, haha.

Still in India I managed to visit Kaziranga National Park, home of the Javan Rhino(and the Indian Rhino). Its swamps and grasslands with tall thickets of elephant grass and patches of ever green forest support the largest number of Rhino population in the whole of Indian subcontinent. Once reached to an alarming point due to hunting and poaching, this area came under wildlife conservation in 1926 and in 1940, Kaziranga was declared a sanctuary.

Wow those pics are amazing! Especially the wolverine, elephants and the rhinos!

Um sorry to be irritating but Kaziranga is home to Indian Rhinos only, no Javans..
Still awesome pics!! Hope you go to S-E-Asia next!

I swear I saw somewhere on a site about The Kaziranga National Park is home to 18 Javan Rhinos.

If I didn't see Javan then I wouldn't have picked that sanctuary.

I make my way over to Thia Land and come across a popular Tiger sanctuary.
These magnificent tigers are not tame, they are now here at Luang daa Ma-ha Bua temple, after being rescued from poachers or private breeders who just didn't want them anymore.

My next visit is the Khama Rhino Sanctuary in Africa. They house a decent number of White Rhinos & Black Rhinos. On The way to the sanctuary we passed a few Lions who just made a fresh kill and a pack of Wild Dogs.

Charlee, I just looked at your thread for the first time! Oh wow! The detail on some of your pics is the best I've seen! In fact at the first glance I thought the first grizzly pic was a photo!:specool:

I will be checking out this thread regularly!:sign_wow:
