Title: Carnovia
Post by: Decrosse on January 03, 2007, 11:06:25 AM
A New zoo created in the Sahara Desert that has just recently opened. This zoo is mostly for Carnivores but will take in other animals. Carnovia takes in abused, unwanted, or orphaned animals.

The animals in the zoo so far:

African Elephants: 1 Male, 1 Female.

Grizzly Bears: 1 Male, 1 Female

Dromedary Camels: 2 Male, 2 Female

A Snapshot of a part of the zoo:

Once the above animals are named their stories will be told.

Carnovia would like to get some more animals but would like to learn what they need or are missing to keep some of the animals "Happy".
The following animals are the ones Carnovia would like to keep "Happy". Other zoos have have told Carnovia that they tried but had to get rid of them.

((I'm planning to get the exspansions soon - user-created animals count for this zoo, if mention one of those needing a "saving", please put tips or whatever for caring for that animal. I might be missing something it wants I don't know yet though.))

Do you need names for the Caracals, Decrosse? I'm a huge kitty fan

If so, can I request Ava for the female and Juniper for the Male? If not, completely ignore this post except the following part:

Great pics! I don't much like sharks, but I really like that one you got of the White

Sable Zoo is a branch from Carnovia, but dedicated to the Cat species yet they will take in other species.
Sable Zoo as just received some pictures of 3 Cat species in too small cages and no care:

Sable has taken in the Jaguar, which has now been named Bahati. He seem's to be getting along with Sable's own female Jaguar (white), which had been named Uhuru when they had got her:

After having been closed for months due to natural dangers and disasters, returning to the zoo, the owner, Nancy Velocity, and her small staff group find none of the animals nearby and only a little of the zoo remained. But using what was left, they decided to start again. And so, Carnovia Reopens.

The first exhibit they fix up as best they could is the Grizzly Bear exhibit. They recieved two Grizzly Bears that were becoming "Problem Bears" walking right into a city. The Grizzlies have been named Sundae and Samson.

Samson - The Grizzly Bear

Sundae - The Grizzly Bear
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Sundae-1.jpg)

They then took in two Sand Cats which were being sold illegally by a few teens claiming they were Normal House Cats. There names were Rosaline and Tiger (the people that saved these two cats had named them).

Rosaline - The Sand Cat

Tiger - The Sand Cat
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Tiger-1.jpg)

Carnovia also took in two Asiatic Cheetahs which were going to be used as Live Bait Practice Dummies for an illegal dog fight. This had just been a rumor until one person either heard or saw them and tipped off the local Humane Society. The cheetahs were called Rumor and Sheva.

Carnovia had just gotten a call at 1pm from their friend, Steve, who works at a nearby farm,  asking for them, if they could, take in 3 animals...
Unfortunately, Carnovia had to decline them as they didn't have enough space to make one more nice exhibit.

Steve had caught someone selling a Red Panda as an Exotic Colored Raccoon, a Koala as a live Teddy Bear, and a Giant Panda as a rare striped bear. He knew he could not keep these animals, but did his best to satisfiy their basic needs until they found homes:

I am Jason A. Carter, a Zookeeper and care taker of the local zoo. I am also an agent of the local humane society.

I got the call around 3-4pm from our friend Steve, he had asked me to meet him at his private club house but he wouldn't say what for, regardless I got into my Jeep Liberty and headed over to meet Steve at his club house. (http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/JeepLiberty.jpg)

When I got their I decided to check out the animals at his farm, the club house was close nearby. (http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/farm.jpg)

After having saw that the animals were being well cared for, I went around the left side (http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/farm_garden.jpg)
After having stopped to look at the pretty garden, I turned away and headed towards the club house. (http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/clubhouse.jpg) Upon approaching the club house, I decide to take a better look, I go closer and look at what's in the small fences.
Steve has been known to foster young animals, his Club house is also where he keeps the different types of food.
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/clubhouse_foodstorage2.jpg). Now time to go meet him...

Once inside, Steve tells me that he caught someone selling 3 animals, a Red Panda, Koala, and a Giant Panda. He also said that he had asked Carnovia to take them in but they had to refuse as much as they didn't want to. Steve shows me the 3 animals, he already knows he cannot keep them.
I tell him I'll try to help him to find good homes for them and will call him when I do. Now back at my work station, at about 7pm I get a message that a zoo not too far from this city would be willing to take all three of them in, however I had gotten a call shortly after from Steve saying that the animals have escaped and that he and some of his friends have been looking for them, or any sign of where they were. I quickly headed back to the area were Steve had kept the animals.

At 1am, an no luck in finding the animals, we decide to have a meeting at 6am in the morning. Heading back to my Jeep, I notice something hanging from the fence that was holding the 3 animals. I untangled it, Steve notices I've found something and asks me what it is,
"Poacher's wire..." I reply, "Usually used to trap animals. Might find more of this stuff in Africa, not so much around here."

6AM, June 7th

I meet Steve back at his Club house for the meeting, after the meeting I have decided that we build our own zoo, a conservation zoo. One of the other members said that they could even do the same with the extinct dinosaurs, they had a time warp portal. (http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/clubhouse_portal.jpg)

Steve had to stay behind to take care of his farm animals, so it was up to me to pick out the members for my crew. After 15 minutes, I had my crew together.

On our list of animals, the first 4 to get were:

June 9th,
Once at the Wetlands, we start looking for our target animals...

We see a herd of Buffalo (http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Wild_WBuffalo-1.jpg)

looking past a hill on the opposite side of the buffalo herd we see one of our target animals, but did one of them see us? (http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Wild_WCamargueWildHorse-1.jpg)

We also see some Beavers (http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Wild_Wbeaver-1.jpg)
some reptiles
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Wild_Wcaiman-1.jpg)

a few Crowned Cranes (http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Wild_WCrownCranes-1.jpg)

a small group of frogs (http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Wild_Wfrog-1.jpg)

some flamingoes and hippos (http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Wild_WflamingoHippo-1.jpg)

We spot our Nile Crocs not to far from the buffalo herd (http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Wild_WNileCroc-1.jpg)
but wait, why are some white? is it just a rare color, different species, or a subspecies?

We find our Florida Panther across the low river/lake from the Beavers, (http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Wild_Wfpanther-1.jpg)
But what's this against the tree? Why, it's another Florida Panther but darker colored, or is it just really dirty? (http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Wild_Wfpanther2-1.jpg)

We find our Fishing Cats roaming among the Hippos and Flamingoes (http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Wild_Wfishingcat-1.jpg)

We crate the animals and put them together, soon a helicopter arrives and takes them away...

I have a quick question for you: on post #52, the 5th picture (the one with the black animals), which animals are they? I've been doing "farm type" zoos lately and I thought those (what ever they are) might be a good edition.

And Very good zoos and "scenarios" btw, I wouldn't have the patients to do that! lol!

http://zoo.ogresnet.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=41

anyways,
--------------------------------

June 11th,

Now we head to the Boreal Forests, our target animals are The Grizzly Bear, The Eastern Timber Wolf and The Gray Wolf.
There are many animals here,
we see a small herd of deer
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Ad_Herd_Deer.jpg)

later some Amur Leopards,
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Ad_AmurLeopards.jpg) going back to near the first deer herd we spot some bobcats going to the watering hole
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Ad_Bobcat.jpg)
the watering hole is full of different kinds of fish
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Ad_Wfish.jpg)

We spot some Russian Brown Bears not too far off from the watering hole
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Ad_RussianBrownbear.jpg) and a moment later we find one of our target animals - The Grizzly Bear.
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Ad_Grizzlybear.jpg) We crate them and move on, we see some Moose with Japanese Serow
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Ad_Herd_Deer3.jpg) and some Fishers
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Ad_Fishers.jpg)
and more deer, Fallow Deer, to be exact
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Ad_FallowDeer.jpg)

after awhile of walking northwest but more west than north from the Fallow Deer, we see two Coyotes
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Ad_Coyote.jpg)
and soon after we find our Wolves, both are together in the same spot
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Ad_EthiopianGreyWolf.jpg).
We crate them and then take our crated animals back, the helicopter couldn't get to the area in the Boreal Forest so we caried them. When we got to our zoo however, we found two mysterious crates sitting just inside the gate,
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Ad_MysteryCrate1.jpg)

June 14th,

As most of my crew was busy helping build the exhibits, the rest of my crew and I tried the time portal

We see swimming in the water a small crodile-like creature.

Using sticks, branches, and vines we create a cage area

Looks like Bush Prowler had two cubs, could only get a pic of one though... a male and a female.

Tsunami also had two pups, a male and female. the female one likes to play chase the jeeps.

the Klipspringers also had a baby, a boy.

i use photobucket now. used to use image shack before but since that seemed to be upload only one at a time was going a bit too slow for me gettin the pics then trying to find them again which i couldn't, so i found something else. :original:

before photobucket changed some it's stuff, was able to upload up to like 29 pics at a time.
now its only 20, but still good. it's resizing the pics for me (uploading options link there when going to upload pics).

back on topic...
more pics in awhile i think or tomorrow sometime...

just finished watching "when good pets go bad"...

i don't like what some people do to animals, but then there is some other stuff that i may think is not fair. well, started a sorta project at school i've a name for it but i going to try to get most if not all animals in there. i guess i could use a bit of ZT2 to help...

Circuses, well i like them in some ways but in other ways i don't like them. i don't like rodeos either...

i'm a she by the way.

anyways...

The Jaguar
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/TheJaguar.jpg)

beutiful cat, :original:  also has a black color variation.

Fact: one bite from this cat to the skull of it's prey and the cat's got it's food, unlike most other cats which go for the throat. not even the turtle's shell can withstand the Jaguar's bite.

Fact: In some places/states, like some people host dog fights (legal in some places/states but illegal in most states) they do similiar with these cats. I watched once on TV (most likely Animal Planet), a young black leopard/jaguar in a small cage, just looking at it's eyes could tell it was frightened, maybe even a bit/a lot weakened. They (people) opened the cage and as soon as it bolted from the cage the "attack/fighting" dogs were on it. that cat didn't live. :crying:

The Bear (Brown Bear or Grizzly Bear)

Fact: People still feed bears and that gets rid of their natural fear of humans, thus some have been coming into cities for the food from garbage and etc. Creating "Problem Bears" and not all Problem Bears can find a home in a reserve or zoo or something similiar...

Another show, either Animal Planet or Discovery Channel, a young bear kinda leashed/tied up, the people let their dogs attack it but didn't let the bear defend itself with it's paws/jaws. :crying:  i dunno/forget what happened to the bear if anything...

i've seen on tv a bit of dog fights, rooster fights...

i've seen other animal fights here and there, with people making them do it.

though the one i just saw today...
while watching the "when good pets go bad" on Discovery Channel.

The Horse (ZT2 doesn't have a "horse" yet, or horse DL i haven't seen anywhere)

nice pretty creatures, gentle. but can be dangerous as all animals can be.

in the show these people had two male horses fight, kind of a fight to the finish. but to top it off they placed a female horse between the two fighting horses... :crying:

Earth & Nature are both beutiful and delicate... :original:

might have a few quotes tomorrow... may put with a pic or a couple pics...
might name the above animals tomorrow...

Carnovia: Wildlife Adventures

Most locals in this city know me simply as Dean, though being a cop and an Agent of the local humane society, there was this one animal that made me decide to head out into the wilderness, to not only document the animals but also get other peoples' opinions on things.
My friend Brian had just bought an empty lot very recently, he was playing to make it into a zoo.

So, one day well on a drive on the way to see the lot,
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/OnDrive.png)
seeing Peacocks roaming freely was not an unusual site around here.

There was this one store i decided to check out, it was a flower shop.

I parked my jeep not too far away, and went around back of the store.

I looked into the fenced off area,
(http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g205/DeCrosse/Flowers3.png)

The Iron bars in the corner almost hidden got my attention, what I found was a bit surprising to me. You'd think that someone that takes care of flowers and plants well would be able to care for an animal...
The animal was a raccoon, it was in a small area with no shelter or food, rains have made small ditches in the muddy ground.
The animal looked right at me, seeming to ask for help.
A Tag on the bars said the Raccoon's name was Kitty, apparently this person had been misinformed that this animal was a Cat. However, there had already been a notice posted before with no reply on Kitty,  so I took the animal from the small enclosure left another notice in case anyone would return to check on the animal.
I took the animal along and continued on my way to the lot where they were still building their first exhibit...

more pics in a little...

Post by: Decrosse on February 26, 2007, 09:30:45 AM
The exhibit was not yet done when I brought Kitty in, I put her down in the enclosure and watched to see if she would be alright... It took her a moment but then she went to one of the logs to eat...
When she went into the hollow stump that is when I left.

I began my journey, heading to Australia. This was where I was going to begin.
It took a few days to get there, but once I was there I began the adventure, I did not know what I would find or what would happen, all I had with me mostly was my camera. I knew to be careful with what to bring into the wild, if I brought food I should expect some animals that may be near me may be wanting it.

okay, so now that i can get back to here....
-----------------------------------------------------
So now in Australia near the coast on the South East, though despite its beautiful scenery, there were still two buildings that caught my attention.

This building seemed a bit suspicious to me, the main reason being the dry shrub area outside the building where most of the ground surrounded the building itself was green.

I decided to take a look, the gate was unlocked...

looking around I spot a shelter which indicates they have animals here, but what I don't see is Food or Water.

Having a little bit of food with me, I place some down. Two canines come to the food, they were hungry.

While they were eating I placed down a bowl of water, then went to check the smaller area in the corner. There were 4 more canines.

I somehow got in to them, and also placed down some food and water for them. They also were hungry.

One of them starts to run off Happily.

After watching them for a moment, I dropped a few toys I had to give them sonething else to play with while I went to check the other building...

I did not get into the builing, but did manage to get 4 more animals though they wouldn't tell what they were.

I headed back to my homeland as some friends wanted me to check out this strange device thing they noticed was being built, they wanted to make sure it was safe.
So, i had the 10 animals delivered to the zoo gate, when I got back there I decided to check it out. The device was not yet finished but the workers said they would tell me when it was done.

While waiting for it to be finished, I decided to check up on the Zoo and the Raccoon named Kitty...
Kitty (the one who is standing), seems happy in her exhibit and also got a mate, that Raccoon had been named Bandit.
I meet up with some friends who are helping out and we chat while watching the tiger, her name is Sheeva.

Jason: "A Carnotaurus, and a hungry one..."
The Carnotaurus's first target was the bird, but it had spotted us and given a choice it decided we were easier targets and attacked. We were trapped with the cliff wall behind us. Still, we tried to get to safety.
Just then, someone came rushing in, but not before it had gotten a hold on me...
The someone, and my friends which stopped trying to get to safety came back to help me, they whacked The Carnotaurus from behind and on its legs with branches. The Dino got annoyed quickly and dropped me to turn on the someone.
They managed to "crate" the dino and told us to come along...
The Someone: "Sorry about that, that Carnotaurus is Victor, he kept escaping a couple times but it shouldn't happen again. And, by the way, I'm Micheal of PESBC, Prehistoric and Extinct Species Breeding Center. This here is still a secret place to the rest of the world, and we wish it to stay this way until we've got enough of the species."

Micheal took the crate somewhere, we followed, and my friends helped me along...
Our first encounter with the Prehistoric Beasts didn't turn out well, and we all hoped our next encounters with them would be much better, and Safer...

Micheal told us they had a place where they took care of workers, caretakers, and their own creatures that have been injured by one of their creatures and would take us there. It was still quite a distance away but we went.
We passed the Carnotaurus enclosure, and the one named Victor was there.

After awhile after passing some more enclosures we passed the Tyrannosaurus enclosure, this was the last one to pass...
A Curious Rex took a peek at us but seemed to pay us no attention.

We get to the place,

Once there, the rest of my friends leave the "building" to go help out except for Bruce. He tells the rest that he will catch up as he "wants to make sure I'll be alright". He waits on the bench, once the worker leaves the area a few minutes after he gets up to leave, he pauses in the doorway to look back at me before continuing. The look on his face I've seen before a couple times.
Did he have anything to do with that Carnotaurus attack?

Meanwhile the rest of my friends and Micheal went to get two Dienosuchus. When they got there, they just expected to see Triceratops on the other side of the water but instead caught a battle between Triceratops, Styracosaurus, Carnotaurus, & Tyrannosaurus Rexs. Meanwhile those dinosaurs were busy with each other, we managed to crate one of them croc-like creatures. The second one was smarter, which made it more difficult...

But they managed, it was not happy about being caught. They "crated it" and quickly got out of that area...

They returned to the "Breeding Center" and just helped around, Bruce joined them. Until, a couple months later...
