Regurgitated Meat
« on: April 04, 2006, 05:18:27 PM »
recently I've been letting my zoo run during the day while at work, and I've been noticing that in my carnivore exhibits there is a lot of regurgitated meat.  What causes this?  I know u can delete it, but is there a more effecient way of getting rid of it?  Do the Zookeepers get rid of it?  I think it might only be the Endnagered Species animals that do this.

Ive noticed this with my Wild Dogs, and have never noticed it before ES. It is deletable/recyclable, and im not sure but i think you cant clean it up in zk mode. The dogs regurgitate it to feed their young.

Regurgitate pretty much means vomiting. When an animal eats something that doesn't agree with its stomach, it regurgitates it, and usually leaves it alone. Birds also do this to feed their young. Also, if you sneek up on a snake that is in the middle of swallowing its food whole, it'll quickly regurgitate it, so that it can either bite you or slither away. Its quite nasty :sick

well that feature comes with the african wild dogs. in the wild the adult dogs feed the pups by letting them nurse, and when they get old enough, they regurgetate the meat for them, which makes it easier for them to digest, b/c its already partially digested, its just like what a parent bird would do for its chick.

Yeah, you're right, wolfkid, and so are you, dootdoot. The canids do that on purpose (even as the penguins do) so, as you say, the young can have partially digested meat. It has nothing to do with their stomachs being upset, Megaraptor - sorry.

I wasn't saying that the animals in the game had an upset stomach, i new that they did it to feed their young. I was simply explaining to Koala Komander why many animals in nature regurgitate. I've had my Wild dogs do it alot, and i find it awesome. So realistic.

No, you can't delete a carcass. I've tried it. You have to let the other animals eat off of it and then click on it to refresh it.

I had no idea that this behavior happened in ES!  That's pretty cool.

What does it look like?  Is it red like the regular meat?  Do you know if it's lying around if the baby dogs will go and eat it eventually or if they don't eat it right away if it's OK to delete it?

When I have an animal killed I can delete its carcasses :blink

The regurgitared meat is quite gross but very realistic.  I just wish the pups would clean it ALL up so I wouldn't have to see it. :sick

ok,ill give ya the whole scoop to you and alll the members who want to know,a small pup will beg from an adult with a paw raised, sitting and wwagging its tail, then the adult dog will come along and make a hacking sound and a lil peace of tiny mean apperes, not really gross, its looks like the original ZT2 meat, then the pup eats it or sometimes leaves it and soon or maybe never, another pup comes and eats it,if it dosnt, you can delete it

hope that helps everyone! :happy

You're exactly right, Zoo Animal! And, it IS very realistic, as stated above, since in the wild, pups (of many kinds) do exactly that.

Also, ktesch, that's isn't correct - you can easily delete a carcass, whether the animal died, was killed, or it's artificial.

No, only the ES animals of wild dog and gray wolf do that. But, the penguins offer meat from their throats (a la March Of the Penguins) to their young. :happy

Make sure your wolves and dogs have pups then look for little red splodges on the ground and the pups feeding off it. Or, when a pup's hunger level is red, click on it's current action. If it says 'Going to feed on regurgitated meat' click on it's tracker and follow it to the meat. You should be able to see it either of those ways. :wtg
