It might be that BF wanted to make it so the mother's skin was passed on, but they just didn't get that deep into it and just ade it random.

which is still really cool in my opinion, that was why they added that new giraffe, i wonder if they could do that for say, zebras or something, that would be really cool.

o.k. i have now had a male masai, from a m. ret X f. masai cross, breed with a female masai, from a m. masai X f. ret cross, they both have reticulated blood, so we will see what happens...THIS IS SO MUCH FUN!

This is cool, early real zoos had this problem because they just took any old giraffe from the wild so there was a sortof new subspesies the "zoo" giraffe

So even if you dont have the other subspecies in your zoo they can still give birth to the other sub species?

If so I may never use giraffes again!

No what is is if you have 2 hybrids that are, say reticulated then they could still have a masi baby.

i don't think that bluefang would make it that complicated, but its still interesting to think about it, again, i am waiting for a baby from a pair of hybrids, waiting to see what it will be

Hey why don't we form a genetics club and studty the giraffes and the hybrids.: :) :  Also if we can find the code that causes the in breeding then we might be able to nuse it to create hybrids from user made animals!: :) :  If this is possible I'm gonna start making petigrees to study stuff.: :) :

If someone does find the code we might be able to have ligers. And other things too. Soo cool.

A liger is a real animal. I saw it on the news. A cub is about 900 pounds.

I wonder if penguinman or another good coder could find out if we can use that file to other animals.

Great! I didnt quite understand at first, as it would be really diappointing if too pure breeds could give birth to another sub-species

kool, i like the idea of the genetics club, i really want to make it,  i wonder if the mods would agree.  Also, i tried to do some other things as well, i used the user downloads of like elephants, and tried to interbreed them, however it didn't work, but really, i don't really like the idea of hybrid animals, but studying this is still very interesting.  The experiment zoo i was working on with my orginal giraffe family is now huge, with most of the giraffes being masai, its too big to keep track of, so i am going to start over, and find a better system of monitoring.  YAY

Reticulated and Masai are 2 of 9 subspecies of giraffe.

OK, I thought I would pop in here and explain about user-created things and the files. The files basically say that they can mate with with the other giraffe and give birth to the other giraffe. So yes, if we were, say, making a zebra pack of sub-species I could make the all interebreed and have a chance at giving birth to any of the others.

But, what I cannot do, is make it so they will only give birth to a different species if they mated with a different species. For instance, if I were to make it so that lions and tigers could breed and give birth to a liger, there would be a chance that if 2 lions bred they would give birth to a liger as well, which is VERY unrealistic.

Hope this makes since, and I think it is a VERY neat feature.

Sounds awesome, PM! I would LOVE a zebra pack, then. What other animals could we do? OH! I know! A Mustang pack! That would also rock!

ok, before we get any further, lets just make it clear, that we are NOT creating hybrid animals, just experimenting with fantasy cross breeding, correct...

This could just be an experiement. Maybe blue famg wanted to see if they could do it so they can perfect it for another expansion pack.
