do i put the variant skins i download into the same folder as the animals i download, or a different folder. currently im putting them into zootycoon_com_zt2_1033.
and is there anyway to delete official animals. say i wanted to delete the gemsbok. is there anyway i could do that?

You need to put the .z2f files inside one of the download folders if you are putting them in 1033.
You can also put the .z2f files in the program files for Zoo Tycoon 2.

Putting them directly into C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Zoo Tycoon 2 will work just fine. They will appear from there. Don't forget, variant skins only appear once in 33% chance, so only every 3-5 animal will have one. If you have 4 variants, your chances will, naturally, increase. :original:

When You do a variant skin does it make anthour animal with the 33% chance or replace the current animal with 33% chance?

If I understand your question correctly, it doesnt replace it. It just adds another. You can download as many as up to 4 variant skins.

Just put them into the folder that yu have been putting the downloaded animals in.

I believe I told you already(?) they go into C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Zoo Tycoon 2. The variants live there and will show up AFTER you place the animals. The skins that show while you're placing them don't show the variants, but once you place them, they show. :original:

I'm confused.
I just haven't ever had any varient skins show up for me.

Your graphics have to be on Med-High and you have to have ES for them to show up.

I think I have mine on medium/high and we reinstalled the game so my dad and I looked and couldn't find them so I guess we have to download them.

Do you have the Endangered Species expansion pack? You can only see variant skins (downloaded or official) if you have that.

I have ES, MM, and AA. But we had to reinstall the game and I have NEVER got a varient skin. I've placed probibly fifty animals that we got varient skins for and none. I also know its a 33% chance.

Do the official variants show up in your game?

Such as the white tiger which shows when you place several Bengal Tigers.

The you're probably not installing the downloaded variants properly. :) Make sure you place the .z2f file in the main Zoo Tycoon 2 Directory, which is by default C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Zoo Tycoon 2.

Okay. Whenever I find a variant skin how many can I get or is there a limit how many you can get?

Yes there is a limit to four variants plus the main skin so a total of five different skins for each animal. Also, baby animals do not have variant skins.
