Hi
I have the full retail version of Zoo Tycoon 2 with the update patch installed and I am still having problems trying to place the ZTD files into Zoo Tycoon 2. I have tried placing them in the folloing directories as instructed in the forum but to no avail.
C: > Program Files > Microsoft Games > Zoo Tycoon 2
C: > Documents and Settings > All Users> Application Data > Microsoft Games > Zoo Tycoon 2 > downloads
C: > Documents and Settings > Your Username > Application Data > Microsoft Games > Zoo Tycoon 2 > Your Profile Name > Saved
Is there any other directtories I should be looking in or have I tried everything and am just unlucky.
Regards

Saved zoo's go in saved folder - not the downloads -
When you say ztd files? what files are you trying to put in there exactly. Zoo's for ZT2?
-
If you are downloading ZTD files, they are for Zoo Tycoon 1 only. Zoo Tycoon 1 and Zoo Tycoon 2 or are not compatible with each other.
-
Thank you for the advice, it is much appreciated, I thought the downloads were for both versions. I will now have to find downloads for version 2. :)
-
Could someone provide a list of the ZT2 extensions for downloads? I found the folder I am to put them in, but now I don't know what goes in there. I downloaded some files, but now realized that they are specifically for ZT instead of ZT2. Thanks
-
ZT 2 file extensions include .dl and .ztf. They would be in your downloads folder usually within other folders - english version files are in the 1033 folder.
ZT1 extensions are .ztd (with a dll file if its a building)- so remove those from the ZT2 dowloads folder.
If you still having problems - you can email me a copy of your downloads folder and I can sort it out for you :)

I am having MAJOR trouble finding the 'Saved Games' folder where I put a new user-created ZT2 game in. I followed those instructions perfectly, but once I clicked on my ZT2 folder, it doesn't have my profile name or anything. It just has a downloads folder, which I do not need at the moment, and a folder called 'tmp'. What should I do?

Its in aplication data? Wow! It very hard to find that place but I have found it once...

its confusing i know but theres actually two extra zoo tycoon folders one with the downloads fiolder and the other that has saved games and photos in that one can be found following this path
C:\Documents and Settings\Your user name\Application Data\Microsoft Games\Zoo Tycoon 2\Default Profile
the other route for a folder is C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft Games\Zoo Tycoon 2
-
I know, I know. I follow it exactly, except once I click on my ZT2 folder, it says tmp and Downloads. No 'Default Profile' or anything else....

Question for you all! I've been trying to find the aforementioned path in my game as well. Which version of Windows are you using? That path sounds like a WinXP path to me. I'm using 98SE and have always displayed hidden and system files and have nothing like that anywhere on my hard-drive.
-
I am using WindowsXP, but I can not find it...
-
Stuffed Panda - Is your hard drive divided into 2 or more partitions? My hard drive has 3 partitions and WinXP is installed on the D:\ drive rather than C:\.

-
Stuffed Panda - Or another thing you can try is a search zoos you have saved on your hard drive.
Go to Search and type - nameofyourzoo.z2s you're going to put the actual name of your zoo there
or *.z2s the asterisk is a wild card
That will show you the path to the folders you're looking for.

How do I search?

-
Thank you so much you guys! I FINALLY found the Saved Games folder! :w00t
-
I have nothing in my zoo tycoon 2 folder? What can i do? :huh
-
Hi all. I have joined this site as it looks like a GREAT place to be for zoo tycoon 2. I am having problems finding the saved games folder no matter the instructions I follow on this site. Can anyone help? I have set to view all hidden folders etc.. but I still can't even find the default profile directory. Thanks!
-
Could this be because you haven't saved a game yet? Try saving a game and then look for the folder again. :happy
-
I've done everything so far, but I can't find the Aplication Data in my username. Where would that be? It seems that in my username, that there is not a folder labled Aplication Data. Do I need to look in my C: Drive.
-
MarineManiac, have you definitely made it so you can view hidden files and folders? If you have, and you still can't find the folder, try searching for your zoo's name. Right-click on the start menu, and pick search. Make sure you change the "look in" drop down menu to local hard drives instead of Start Menu. Or you can try searching for *.z2f which will find all your saved games.
EDIT: If you're navigating to your username and you're not seeing the folder Application Data, most likely the hidden folders are the problem. I'd recommend first going to the beginning of this topic and following the instructions to allow you to see hidden folders and files. ;)
-
I will let you know what happens in a bit.
-
I found it! :D So it's all good. Thanks for all of your help! :wtg
-
No problem! Glad I could help. Good luck in the contest. :happy

Hey do downloading zoo maps apply for zoo tycoon 2 saved games?
-
I'm not REAL clear on what you mean, but if you're asking if you can download zoos and zoo maps for ZT2, the answer is Yes. They are located under our Downloads Section (http://zoo.ogresnet.com/downloads/db/?cat_id=56). If you're talking about saved games that will unlock things, those can be found under the Hacks section there.
p.s. - I see you're from Austin - my hometown!
-
Wow you are from Austin cool but what I mean is that do you put Zoo Tycoon 2 maps on your game the same way you put Zoo Tycoon 2 zoos?
-
Yes, essentially you do. They go in C:\Documents and Settings\YOURNAMEHERE\Application Data\Microsoft Games\Zoo Tycoon 2.
as to Austin, yeah, over by Lake Travis. Nice to have another 'home-y' around, y'all!
