After installing AA my animals have began to turn completely black or white and my guests have been walking around with out clothes :ermm: I've tried updating my graphic card drivers- though I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. Not to computer savvy. My display is Dell M781S on NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 4000. I may have just downloaded the wrong driver or something. But does anyone have any ideas?

Sincerly, ZA's computer illiterate mod. :blushing:

changed the title for you Bengal - dindt want to worry too many people

Oh I'm sorry! I would change the title, but I haven't figured out how to yet since we moved hosts for the forums. Thanks anyway.

Oh no! I have no clue what would cause this... how often does it happen? I would recomend trying to put some graphic setting on low. I for instance had weird things happen on the terrain where it would turn black and funny colors but when I changed "Terrain Texture Size" to low it went away. You seem to be having the same problem but on animals. You could just use trial and error to see if you can get it fixed I suppose...

(btw to change the name of the topic you just click once on the area near the topic name. If you want me to do it just post the new name you want  )

I think the tilte is fine and perfectly describes the problem Bengal is having. I would advise leaving the title as is in case some other members have the same problem after instlling AA.

I have this problem, too, and I do have a new video card and uninstalled/reinstalled twice. For a while until I found this thread I thought I was the only one having this problem and was thinking about taking the game back in case it was defective. Hopefully they'll come out with a patch to fix it.

Thanks. I might also add that the skins flicker back and forth between normal, then to black or white. This also happens with the guests. I just bought my new video card when ES came out, because it wasn't compatible with my old one. :pinch:

I put the graphics on low, and they didn't seem to change to black or white. But, I just can't stand the way the game looks on low. It's so nasty! Is there anything that I can leave on low in Custom options, without having a blank space of the world in the background? :crying:

Yes, what you want to do is put the graphics back to what you had before, then turn it onto custom. Then one-by-one add one setting to low, load a zoo, see if it fixes it. If it does not, put that setting back to what you want and try another on low. Obviously try settings related to animal something or other.

Hope this makes since and if it doesn't please ask again and I'll help. It is kinda tedious, but worth it if it fixes that kind of problem.

Thanks penguinman. I have a lot of time (no school today yay!!) so I will go do that. Hopefully it works. I just always feel so incomplete without all my graphics set to high :crying:

Edit: Also, Roaming Tigeress, could you specify what type of graphic card you have?

Edit Edit  : I just contacted Steve from BF and he said he would look into this problem right away. So don't go out and buy a new graphic card just yet (which I was on the verge of doing, even though I really can't afford it  )

 Well hopefully Steve will know something. That's really nice of him to look into it!! Hopefully the graphic setting causing it won't change anything else, but I am worried it may make varients not work! :crying:

I know :crying: I've been fiddling around with all the graphic options..still haven't acheived anything yet. I thought I'd include a few pictures..here is a shirtless man..

Usually the kids just run around without ANY clothes.

Here's a white Masai Giraffe. I thought that maybe this issue only happened with the AA animals, so I tried some original and ES animals, but it happens with them too.

For anyone experiencing this problem, your first step should be to download and update your video card drivers. Bengal mentioned that he had a GeForce 4 card. If you are experiencing this problem with any other type of card, please post the card type here.

Here is a link to the site for downloading the drivers for any GeForce card running on Windows XP or Windows 2000.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_84.21.html

ONLY use this driver if you have a GeForce card and are running Windows XP or 2000.
If you are using a different operating system, visit, http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp and select, Graphics Driver, your card, then your operating system.

Be sure to follow the installation instructions.

Again. This is only for people using an nVidia GeForce card.

Just installed AA and now all of my animals are either all black or all white.  All of the other game colors are correct, and the colors of the animals are correct in the adoption window.  When I purchase an animal they appear to just be shadows.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled and that doesn't help.

I went to the site to try to download the new driver but was unable to get past their accept/don't accept button, it does nothing when I hit accept, but cancels the download when I don't accept their license agreement.

Well the wise thing to do when you want to use the manufactures driver is to accept their licence agreement. If you don't you won't be able to get updates or needed tech support when you need it.

Companies are getting smarter about their license agreements and sometimes won't let you accept until you ACTUALLY read through.  In case the driver is one of those, scroll all the way through the agreement and then see if it lets you click accept.

Blue Fang proably didn't test the game thouroly so maybe they are up to somthing.

I'm certain the game passed all possible tests. Your comment about BF being 'up to something' is NOT appreciated!

Well as has been mentioned other places only a few people have the game yet...but to even have the chance to help we'll need a few more details.  Are you having the same problem as Bengal and that's why you posted here?  Are you getting an error message when trying to install?  Does the game freeze before it finishes loading?  Or something else?

And even if WE can't help you, any information you can give might help MS/BF to come up with a fix or patch.

I can't get past the license agreement because when I click on accept it doesn't do anything, I have tried scrolling through the agreement and also waiting an appropriate amount of time to have read the whole thing (which I did while I waited), still can't get it to download the driver.  I also have a NVidea GeForce 4 mx440 card if that helps whoever is working on the problem.
