Breeding Giant Pandas Scenario
« on: May 25, 2005, 10:57:43 AM »
I've got the right number of exhibits, all at the right suitability/happiness levels, etc., but I can't get a panda!!  My conservation and research numbers are set at "maximum" but right now they both say "no program"    Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?? Thanks in advance!

I assume you mean the panda is not upi for adoption. Make sure your filter is set to Zoo Tycoon or All content on the Research and conservation tabs, then make sure that endagered animals has a check beside it as well as Foliage and animal shelters so you can get all you need for the Panda and the panda himself.

Yes, that's what I meant. Sorry I wasn't too clear!  Panda is not up for adoption, but I do have panda care, all the training for the zookeepers, the panda cave, etc. Just no panda.  Thanks. I'll try again!

Did you click off the endangered species? Have you researched them. If so, then you may need to reinstall.

You Must Off UnTicked The "ENDAGENED SPECIES" Icon. It should be there. Looks Closer :)

ya it should be there.  it's like the last endangered animal that is researched.  if it doesn't come up then your game may have a glich in it and you may have to restart or reinstall... :sad

When I try to make my exhibits have 90 or more suitability, My Elephant exhibits are always 80-85. I've tried everything (Rocks, favourite foilage, toys, shelter)
(By elephant I mean Asian elephant)

I too had a problem with getting Pandas in this scenario. If you start it over, be sure to save it just before you have evertyhing completed to get the Pandas.

This scenario only allows you to get the Pandas once. Once you have bought a pair (with the game time running) you can't get any more! I don't know whether if you don't get them right away, they disappear or not. But if you pause the game you can buy as many as you like.

The second time I played the game I saved up enough cash to build 4 Panda exhibits (and no money cheat!). 3 of the 4 pairs bred. I use both Bamboo & Himalayan Pines.

PS Pugseli - you can often find info on animals in the Startegies section. I didn't see anything on Asian elephants - here's the basics:60 RainForest, 20 Grass, 20 FreshWater, 12 squares FULL of foliage (use a minimum of 10 Foxtail Palms. the rest can be FT Palm, RF Fern, or Giant Ficus). 4 small rocks, 1 large rock, 1 elephant shelter. Gets you 100.

You don't adopt pandas. They are sold to you when the chinese goverment likes the zoo.

Yes, but you still have to buy them in the same way you adopt an animal. They are not plopped down by the zoo entrance as in other scenarios. When the govt makes them available, you go through the animal adoption menu. They are not available until then, and not available after. It's just that there's a glitch in that you can buy more than 2 at that particular time.
