Raising Your Zoo Rating

Is there a really good way to raise your zoo rating? I've tried putting in flowers, trees, benches, and everything that pleases the guests but so far I haven't even gotten over 80 yet. Maybe I need to place gift shop or fountains. Would that work? BTW the scenario I'm on is the Southeast Asian Zoo.

I always put Atractions and more Animals in. :)

BTW, has anyone ever gotten their Zoo Rating too 100 and to stay 100?

I can't do it!  :><

Here's a good article on how Zoo Rating works

As for me, I can usually get 99 when I've pretty much had a good exhibit of every animal in the game with a bit of scenery here and there.  Every so often, it blinks 100 when the Guest Happiness reaches somewhere over 96.

I think the only way to have 100 Zoo Rating after all that is to have only 1 guest at your zoo and that one guest has to have 100 happiness.

BTW, moving to Strategies.

And also I think having a lot of awards helps also. I try to make sure my guest are happy, lots of happy animals with high suitability exhibits along with as many different species as possible.

Also, if you're just a few points short of where you need to be, try doing all of the research, even if you don't need it. That can help you get over the hill, without hardly doing anything, but generally Happy Animals = Happy Guests = High Zoo Rating, if you have enough exhibits with happy animals and your guests are cared for, the zoo rating should more or less take care of itself.

well, the zoo rating is based off animal happiness, guest happiness, and a whole bunch of other stuph 'm either too lazy to point out or I don't know.

Once, I filled the zoo with the most expensive scenery, lots of foliage and flowers, ponds, statues, everything guests love. zoo rank: 92. LOTS of nice scenery wil make the zoo rating go up, as far as I know.

I remember making a topic about this. You have to research everything in order to make it go up.

Research does help.  Also, add more exhibits.  And it helps if you try to increase your zoo value and beauty.  Make sure you don't have a lot of trash, add decorative fencing and foliage, things like that.

  • All research must be done including DD/MM if you have them.
  • LOTS of well maintained exhibits with good access for peeps to view. Prepare your zoo so that the most popular exhibits are to the back of your zoo and spread out to draw your guest away from the front of your zoo and give your zoo good circulation. Make sure your exhibits aren't too big either, anything deeper than 10 spaces and the peeps can not see the back of the exhibit.
  • Attractions placed wisely throughtout your zoo.
  • Good placement of food booths, trashcans, seating and restrooms
  • Flowers, fountains statues placed periodically but not too much as the peeps prefer animal exhibits.
  • Tour guides help
  • Good admission/food prices help guest happiness which factors into your overall zoo rating.
  • Make sure your entrance isn't too big or peeps will be angry by the time they do reach the animal exhibits. Fancy entrances are nice but the tradeoff is lower ratings.
  • Awards
  • Sufficient zookeepers to address the needs of the animals. One sick animal shoots your ratings down until it is cared for.
  • Plenty of maintanance men as full garbage cans will reduce happiness of the guest. Using just restaurants reduces the need for garbage cans although small booths and vending machines fit nicely in some of the small areas.
  • Prevent as much as possible overcrowding of your zoo or particular areas. Overcrowding can be eradicated in some instances by simply raisiing the cost of admission to your zoo.
I hope this helps you and is only the tip of the iceberg but the main areas of concern. Happy zoo building :)

Remember that guest happiness is important.  Every time a new guest arrives, his or her happiness starts at 70 or 75 ( can never remember  :crazy ).  So if a new bunch of people come into the zoo, the law of averages dictates that happiness overall will go down if existing guests were high at, say 95

So on a challenge/scenario where the rating needs to be high, when your zoo is full of people, bump the ticket prices up so that no or few miserable guests will arrive to spoil the party  :( and the existing peole will get happier  :D
