Elevated path glitch.
« on: July 07, 2006, 08:00:16 PM »
THis is really ruining the game for me. I'll have set up a simple elevated path design. Heres a screenshot-

You should be able to see the fences along the sides of it, underneath it. A car-track runs directly underneath it, right to left. THe guests and zookeepers (argh!!) get stuck on the edges, and can't move. When i pick them up, the all get mad, then try to cross it again! even if i close the zoo, the keep crossing and getting stuck.
Another view-

Any help is appreciated. Especially since i've spent two days on this zoo, and don't wanna lose it.

Thanks, I never tried that. I get back to yah.

Thanks for your help heppes, it worked for a second,  but it happened again.

Its simple, yet horrible things like this that ruin the game for me. I just rebought the AA expansion, and i'm already turned off by these things that ruin any zoos i make.

Megaraptor, I have encountered this problem before, not sure it's a glitch or just the way they made the elevated paths work. The problem is that you can not have an elevated path join the ground right at the edge of a cliff. Did you build the elevated path and then lower the terrain underneath to meet right where the elevated path comes down and joins the ground? That is what I did and was exactly able to replicate the problem you are having. See the pic here.

You must extend the elevated path in from the edge of the cliff before you add the slanted sections that join ground to to elevated section. Once you do that guests will have no problem. This might have been what heppes was trying to say.

I hate this bug. I've had it plenty of times. It even happens if you got into zookeeper mode and go onto the path, the path will 'magically' push either back or forward. This only happens if the path comes directly off the edge of a cliff. Have the path coming off the cliff and not the very edge. :original:

Yeah, i just tried it out. Thanks both of you for the help. Its a pretty stupid thing. They gave us elevated path, but not bridges.

Megaraptor, here is a pic.

This is how I do it. I extend the flat elevated portion of the path in from the edge of the cliff, and then add the slanted section that brings the path down to the ground.

The elevated paths aren't perfect, but they still are pretty cool.

Thanks for the picture, and all the help. I guess a mod can close this now.
