1. It depends on how you are resizing - smaller or larger.

2. also depends on the program you are using to do the resizing.

Can you give me a little more information please.

Say I wanted to resize a... um... theoretically a gorilla. Sizing bigger. What about that?

A lot depends on what program you are doing the resizing in. I use PaintShop Pro 8 for all my graphics and can get some things to enlarge without the pixelating if I don't enlarge it too much. Different programs will enlarge differently. Doesn't matter what the content is whether a gorilla with transparent background or a favorite wallpaper landscape. Each different program accomplishes resizing larger or smaller in different ways.

yep, 'tis true, 'tis ture, just as Rose says. As y'all know, I'm a graphic artist (I'm not bragging, just repeating it for those who don't know), and I, too, use PSP. I've found while teaching myself this resizing/recoloring stuff that, as she says, the actual MS Paint program doesn't work NEAR as well as a graphics program! That's why I'm becoming reluctant to use Paint much. So - there's a 2nd. vote, WR!

p.s. - of course, if you're really, REALLY rich, you could buy Adobe Photoshop! hah.  :rolleyes

I have photo shop versions 5 & 6 and I find they do not work as well as Paint shop. I can do more with paint shop than those 2 versions of photo shop especially when it comes to resizing to a larger size. If converting to a smaller size even paint works well.

Yeah, you're right about resizing SMALLER, but I was amazed to hear you prefer PSP (I have versions 8 & 9) to Photoshop. At work we were always told that Adobe was "THE" best graphics program. Surprising to hear you say that (but pleased, since I couldn't afford to invest in it! :lol )

Yellowrose, what version of PSP are you using?  I was just curious, because I thought Photoshop versions 5 and 6 were really.....old!   :lol   If you're using a different version of PSP it would stand to reason that it would work better.  I know they've made SO MANY changes since then, I believe the current version is CS2.

I am sorry to pop in, as while I used Photoshop all the time I haven't actually used it for APE resizing, but I was wondering if either of you have used Corel Photopaint.  And if so how does it compare to PSP, which I have never used?  I use version 11 for all of my needs, including the ZT2 editing I'm trying now as well as screenshots I post, and I think it works really well.  And it integrates really well with the rest of the CorelDraw suite.   :rolleyes

I use Paint Shop Pro 8 right now untill I get ver 10. I find once I have the initial image editing done I then convert the image with the tranparent background into a tube then open a new image and resize the tube larger. Provided I don't go to large I don't get the pixelating effect Wooly Rhino mentioned. As far as I know no version of Photoshop even the newer ones offers this tool. Tubes in Paint Shop Pro are images with transparent backgrounds that can be used almost like a paint brush to make all kinds if things. If you check in the ZA Clubs section as well as the Community Bldg you will see posters I made. All the images in the posters are individual tubes I used to create the finished poster.

Same thing with your sig pic. The ZT Logo is 1 tube the award cup another the word winner another etc and they were just placed on an edited ZT background croped from one of the ZT scrrenshots from the official ZT Fansite Kits.

Wow, thanks for the info, I always get really frustrated with transparent backgrounds, that's good to know.  Maybe I'll download the demo of PSP and see how it compares to Photopaint, or see if there's a similar feature in it.  Thanks again.  :)
